This is my experience with Direct Tv. Around July 2015 I was approached by a Sales person from their authorized dealer. He promised the Premiere Package at the price of their lower Ultimate Package. We signed what I thought was a conract. I wrote a check for $39.50. The installer came the next day. When he was finished, he showed me a one page agreement to sign. Luckily I refused, because of the language. He left and left me a copy of the agreement. It was 3 pages and it was for the Ultimate. The installer only showed me page 3. It seemed the installer and sales person were trying to get people to switch providers without the Knowledge of Direct TV or its authorized dealers: by promising the premier Packaage and attempting to switch people at the installation. I informed the Attorney General for the state of California. Their reply was that they did not have complaints on the issue Direct TV refused to honor the installation agreement, even though it was the onle existing paper work. Is this the perfect crime?

After my 2 year contract was up, I cancelled my service. Two boxes were sent, in which I packed the equipment as requested, and sent ALL of the pieces back. Direct TV said they did not receive one piece of the equipment, (which was in the box) and charged me $193.00 on my credit card. After a phone call, they said they would remove the charge, however, the next month it was charged again! They have removed 1 of the charges, but not the other.

I signed up for a bundle cable package through CenturyLink and was told that the cable would be connected through Directv but it was all part of the same package deal. I sign up for a no contract with CenturyLink but for some reason they could not get the phone sevice hooked up but in the mean time the Directv man hooked up the cable. In the mean time the phone company could not get the phone and wifi up and running so since I was still hooked up with my original provider I called and cancelled the CenturyLink account with no problem but could not get Directv turned off. Since it was already hooked up I decided to keep it and I had not signed a contract with them plus it was at a low rate. I called my original provider and had the phone and wifi with them but continued the cable service with Directv. One month to a year of being with Diretv I received my bill and it was almost doubled what I was paying. I called to correct the bill but was told that the price I was paying was a promotional price and that it was back at it's normal price. When I called to cancel the account I was told that I could not cancel because I was on a two year contract and if I cancelled I would have two pay a huge early termination fee and return the equipment. After attempts to influence me that I could not cancel the person on the line typed up the cancellation order. I received the bill with a $200 cancellation fee (of which I'm not paying). I payed the final bill less the $200 cancellation fee and sent their equipment. Now I'm beginning to get their harrasement bill for the $200 early termination fee which I do not owe. I will continue to return their bills to them and file any complaints I legally file against them if it takes forever. As an American citizen I refuse to be taken advantage of by scammer just out to drain my pockets. I want them to stop asap sending bills to my house or calling my phone.

My wife was contacted by First Choice Communications Salesperson (representing Directv) at a fair. She came home and gave me the information and I called the Salesman, who assured me that we have a bundle deal at a much lower rate that Comcast. i informed him that I had Directv for approximately 24 years prior and cancelled because of their customer service (rather, lack therof). He assured me that the customer service has inproved and that we would be very satisfied with our service, so we agreed and we would be ALL set up within three days with our bundle.

Three days later, the Directv technician came out and set up the Satillite. When he was done, I asked him about the Internet and he said he did not know how to set it up. I told him it was supposed to be a bundle deal and he told me to call the company (First Choice Communications). I called my Salesman, Jay Whitley and he stated that the internet had to come after the set up of the Directv. I asked him how long and he said within a day or two. It has been two weeks later. I called First Choice Communications and asked them about our Internet and they stated that they tried to contact me on the 24th of May (which would have been a week after installation, not a day or two).

When I nformed them that I just wanted to cancel my Directv since the contract hasn't been completed, they said I had to contact Directv. That confused me since I made the deal with First Choice Communications. I contacted Directv and they stated that I would have to pay an early termination fee. i stated to them that the contract hadn't even been completed and they stated "our portion has" I was NEVER informed that I would be dealing with three different companies for my "bundle". I was told to contact AT&T for the internet.

I believe these companies are baiting people, and when the consumer finds out that they have been taken advantage of, it is too late. I am going to contact the FCC and make a complaint. I encourage ALL to stay away from these companies.

I called ATT/Direct tv from a mailing ad to switch providers, customer service rep was very nice and accomidating.Told him what the ad read and made sure to get the channels and sevices I had with previous company, especially The Weather Channel which I watch quite often which on back of ad listed the channels included in the $89.99 package with High speed Internet and home phone.I also got a Tablet which was free with $10 a month charge. He told me there would be a $45 activation charge for tablet, but per add no installation charges for services....first bill would be approx $155 regular monthly bill would be $110 including fees and taxes. Got installed which took 8 hrs and still not right after another installer came out/no Weather Channel/called customer service and they were going to add higher tier no charge due to ad.Got first bill 1 mth later for 290.15....spoke to many customer reps ...got overcharged for phone and cable was more due to higher tier which was no advertised as included, also charged and installation fee for internet which was also included at no charge per several ads. When I called customer service several times and spoke with Supervisor was told this is what I agreed to and if I cancel it would be over $400.nothing but problems since installed with service and billing.Worse than Spectrum which is pretty bad considering they were so nice when signing up.Would not suggest Direct TV or ATT to anyone, shame since my father worked there for 40 yrs.

I am completely floored with the way Directv has treated an elderly neighbor in our area. They signed her up at Sam's Club in Tri County for a 2 year bundle to give her a very low rate for TV only. They came out and set it up and left. And by the way the bolt this thing in your roof that will cause leaks and issues with roof if you ever go to remove it. Is that advertisement, I think we will paint her dish and say DONT USE DIRECTV so everyone will see.

The very next day after set up their was alot of rain. Oh wow, she did not know but found out quickly within the next few months that when the wind blew hard or in certain direction, or it rained her Directv would go off.

This elderly woman who use to have Time Warner and had no problems begin to wonder about her change. At the Sam's Club where she was talked to by Brandon the sales rep while some of us were with her. He told her and wrote it all down that she would get thie 2 yr bundle for a good price. For her living on SSecurity I can understand her wanting to go with it. She signed up. One yr after her time with Directv she received a bill for 3 times what they said it would be. They were to only increase her bill maybe $10.00 after one yr and that would last through 2nd year, so the rep said.

We began to make contact with the customer service on her behalf, she can not hear well. The first conversation they took her off Select Programing. We called back and told them she was not to loose that per her contract. They began to talk to us like we did not have a contract in our hand that said anything that she thought or had written by the sales rep on her paper. IT was shocking over and over they basically called us liers. Customer first is out of the window for sure with this company know that going in. Calling time after time to get things straight no one offered to lower her bill to what she was told, she was about in tears. We then all discussed that she needed to go back to Time Warner and that we as neighbors would all do the same. We called to do this and canceled. Of course leaving a contract they said she will get a large bill which was over $200.00 and I again tried to tell them that if they are using this contract when it is convenient for them its shocking and totally unethical. The customer service reps must be trained to say the same no matter what was said to them each time, they would repeat "I have your contract and it does not say what you say. The money owed is because you broke contract." If we said what is this we have if you are telling us this? Did the sale rep lie to us? they would repeat something in the lines of the standard again......,"I have your contract and it does not say what you say. The money owed is because you broke contract."

For this elderly woman her shows were important to her and going back to Time Warner because her Directv was out as much as it was in and they broke their word on what was rules to be for her bundle/contract was a no brainer. However, for all of those that might see this letter you should also do the same, I just know we are not the only ones that have all the issues with this company.

They expect this woman to pay a large amount for which they send her a bill and add to it each month. Heartbreaking! If anyone knows how to get them to stop billing her and give her a break on just that one thing please say so. Appreciated by her I am certain.

Directv does not work in good faith in my opinion. I used the service. after filing several customer complains and objections to there service practices and billing. They canceled the service. When they cancel the service they charge the customer for early cancelation even though there the ones that cancel. As well as get paid though att they still carry the charges. and expect to get paid twice.

  • Apr 22, 2017

Directv used a card I made as a one time payment ( I stressed to the agent the card was only authorized to be used one time!) and took 400 dollars out of my bank account months after I cancelled service with them. I moved from a house to an apartment where cable service was provided and no longer need their services and months after cancellation they went into my account and took the money. When I called them to dispute the charge I was informed they keep any card ever used to make a payment on file, even if the card isn't in the persons name and use it at their will to take funds!! How is this even legal?? Why isn't this information told when you state the card is only yo be used one time? They can't keep getting away with this!!

I strongly suggest that anyone considering directv rethink your choices unless you're tied to it. Got it two weeks ago and out of the reported 219 channels I can probably say 20 may be considered entertainment and the rest are either garbage or infomercials. Call to complain and they threaten you with a near $500 cancellation fee. I will be blasting them continually on social media and complaint sites mainly to protect others from making the same mistake I did. A perfect example as to why to dump cable altogether. Rude, threatening and uncaring individuals and ATT was no help even though they own directv. Once my lawyer gets me out of this garbage company they will never be allowed in my home again. Shame on me.

I have been a directtv a.k.a At&t customer from Feb. 2016- 2017, I thought by signning their contract for one year that if you want to renew your contract with the company, that they will send you a email with reminder or contact you by phone with the number that they have in file with your general information. During the frist year as being a customer with directtv/At&t loyal customer, my bill was for 74 dollars and change and the other months I seen that it went up between $118 to $125 including with HBO,Cinnamax, and straz, that was not a big deal to me, but a few months later when I recieved a new bill from these crooks the bill climbed up to $189 almost $200, just for one month alone!!! If they were going to increase their price for the any packages you as a customer chose, I think it is fair, that directtv/At&t, should better communicate with their customers , we are the ones that is pulling our money out of our pockets or/& debit/credit cards for them to contiune give service as in cable and loyal customer service as we are to them, when we signed their contract....

After the year was over and the contract was finish, these people never contacted me about renewing for a another year or email me, In the month of march of 2017, I recived a bill stated that I was past due of amount of $165.12 and the April bill is for $175.... that is 350 or a little bit more for only for those two months alone, to me that is crazy, so I called cistomer service to ask them why every month the bill is getting high and higher his response is that because I have the movie channels.. my bill was $118 to $125 every month for the past year and that was including the hbo, cinnamax, showtime and straz, so he started saying a few months ago from jan. that I only made a part. Payment, and I truly did not understood, what did the part. Payment that I made in jan. And I paid the remaining balance for the same month to restore service, had anything to do with the month of March and April, and what I also did not like that when I mention about my year contract being finish cause I signed with them from feb. 16 till feb.16,2017.. He said that my contract will not be finish till MAY of 2018,, I have never signed a contract with my signature nor have I been contacyed through email, text or phone call about renewing absoutley no permission, no communication were made, so I decided to discontiune with the service and returned their equipment that same day.

They are very dishonest and lack of communication is certainly involve, to me I think they will say anything just to keep you and contiune giving all your money to them, if your lights are due and it was going to be shut off the next day and the cable is due and was going to be disconnected the next business day... which would you pay for that is esstential to life everyday including water??? I will choose light and water over cable, you can survive without cable.

After many years of seeing my bill skyrocket with DirecTV I decided to look elsewhere for TV service. After finding a company, I called DirecTV to disconnect my service as I was at the end of my contract.

DirecTV put me through to their retention department. The retention department promised me $35.00 a month for 1 year. They also mentioned something about a discount with aT&T stated its new and I qualifed but that it was supposedly separate from my formal agreement with DirecTV.

DirecTV recorded that I agreed to exend my contact with them. DirecTV recorded that I would pay $35.00 a month and then put me though to AT&T who had NO idea what this $25.00 a month DirecTV was talking about. I was upset and called DirecTV to complain and the person who I spoke to saw in the system that there was a note about my agreement to get charged $35.00 a month.

A month goes by and I'm charged $62.00 which was withdrawn automatically from my bank account. I call DirecTV and was told that after reviewing everything I only recieved $50.00 off my bill. I was told there was NO apreement to pay $35.00 a month. I told them that they used this so called discount with AT&T to confuse their fraudulent practices. It didnt matter however because my agreement was to pay $35.00 a month with DirecTV. I insisted that my contact be voided and my services be disconected.

Watch out for this company they will lie and try to purposefully confuse the customer and after they have retained you, go gack and erase notes in their system, and tell you that you are a liar.

DIRECTV recently billed me $19.95. At first glance, oh! Great this is an insignificant amount, I must have underpaid my final bill from a month ago, or was late returning the programmer card from their equipment. But wait, lets’ review the bill to determine what the charge is for before I just pay the amount under threat of having the amount automatically deducted from my credit card n file. What do I find? The charge is for a “Pay-Per-View event ordered on 07/2009 via Remote. Charged on 03/14/17”. Now how can this be considering we are 1) eight (8) years after the fact; 2) I have never used Pay-Per-View services and have no interest in Girls Gone Wild; as well as was on assignment to Guam from 2009 through 2011 with the United States Navy; and 3) my account with DIRECTTV was closed by me in February 2017 (disconnection confirmed as of 02/17/2017) with a final bill paid on 02/28/2017 in the amount of $26.52. My conclusion is this bill for $19.95 is obviously a mistake, but an easy fix – I will just contact the company and get in corrected. Right! , wrong!! -DIRECTTV representative (Brian customer representative # 7001446) stated he would be happy to wave the amount, but to do so he would need to reestablish my service and could do so at a cost reduction. SCAM Alert!!!! I refused, and informed he as well as his supervisor that I would not be paying the fraudulent charge. Oh! And during the conversation, I was extremely alarmed to find that AT&T would assume ownership of DIRECTTV with such illicit business practices. What firm waits eight (8) years to charge Pay-For-View services.

Thinking through this situation I recall the numerous phone calls, emails, and regular mail received to inquire as to why I canceled my services, and offer me discounts to reconsider. Being the polite person I am – I completed a survey providing my dissatisfaction with DIRECTTV’s Customer Service, the inability of the firm to provide uninterrupted service to my residence, and their attempts to charge for technical support services to trouble shoot equipment issues in terms of high cost technician visits to evaluate equipment faults. Example – In December 2016, I reported to the company two of three receivers would not function and reminded the firm my services were to have been suspended while I was away, but it had not with billing continued. Representative advised me to trouble shoot the equipment faults myself, send the equipment back for exchange at my expense, and/or pay $50.00 for a technician to come out and work through the problem, which I agreed to trouble shoot myself. Two of three receivers would not power on so I called the company back and requested my account be closed in January due to services not be provided and defective equipment. Representative offered to wave the technicians fee and have someone come out to remedy the problem. Technician arrived with new receivers and program cards and all was fine. Ultimately decided the service was not performed to my satisfaction and customer service was very inconsiderate with no consideration given for period where no service was provided. End result - I closed the account and return all equipment in the prescribed manner.

Bottom line, this particular charge of $19.95 is fraudulent. However, the lager problem is this manner of billing may have been applied to thousands of other DIRECTV customers, and that cannot be allowed. On a positive note, I sincerely hope AT&T will service the issues of valuated services not being provided because of DIRECTV induced equipment faults, fraudulent billing and poor customer service.

Recently cancelled DirecTV and went with the much cheaper Playstation Vue and saved 200 dollars. DirecTV sent me back prepaid shipping cartons to send back the receivers. They didnt send prepaid shipping cartons for all the receivers. Since I didnt want to get charges for unreturned equipment, I called them. Instead of getting a customer service rep, I got a salesman who started asking me about me pets, my heritage, basically trying to be my "pal" and then he tried to get me to come back by making extravagent and hard to beleive promises as in my current outstanding balance would be waived and I would get DirectV for $40 a month and then $50 a month. I initaially found this hard to beleive since when I cancelled they tried to lower my bill and the best they could do was reduce it to $150 a month. Back and forth we went about this. I insisted that he give me this offer in writing or we wont accept the offer. He kept waffling and said he would send us an email, and kept asking if we would accept and we wouldnt without the offer in writing FIRST. This went on for about an hour. Then he got so frustrated, he transferred the call to another department where we found out that he authorized the order WITHOUT our consent and for a DOUBLE the amount he was promising us. We immediately cancelled the order and going through that took another hour. A customer service rep and their supervisor apologized left and right and escalated our claim that we were about to be defrauded! Moral is stay away from DIRECTV or other cable companies trying to lure you back with fake promises! Cable companies are scambling to pick up lost business fro cord cutters going to sling, playstation vue, etc. and they will do ANYTHING to lure you back...including FRAUD!!!

We were out of town and finally just got back, my husband were looking at our bank account and direct tv charge us $442.37 without authorization. He called them up right away and they were rude and persistent. We never gave them authorization and our co Took money out without authorization

I called DirecTv after receiving a flyer saying they now have high speed internet in my area and they offered some bundle pricing that looked much better than the rice I was paying for cables bundle so I gave them a call. They said Yes we do have high speed internet in your area, I fact it is a fiber optic line now which will be faster than anything I would have now. They said if I bundled it with the DirecTv part I could get a great price and package, but they said they didn't have the phone part that I really needed so I had to keep the phone line I already had. I agreed and we scheduled service. First DirecTv's guy came out and installed everything he could and as soon as he was about done ATT came out and as soon as he got out of his truck he said he was installing a 768kbm internet line in and it wouldn't even work the on demand part of the DirecTv nor would it be fast enough to work my phone! I have to have my phone for our Life Alert system and now they are telling me I wont be able to use it. I told him to cancel my order which he did and left. I called DirecTv and told them I was very unhappy with what they did and to cancel my service, which they did. It stayed on till the middle of typing he night a d then went out, so I didn't even have service for a day. I went on line to make sure they were going to send me the boxes to return the equipment and noticed they had said they were going to be charging me the next months service bill. I called and said Listen I don't have your service so don't be charging me for it. They said they were still going to charge me and once they get the boxes back they would send it back to me in the form of a Visa gift card in 30+ days. This wasn't an early cancellation fee. This wasn't a deposit fee. It was a service fee for NXT mo the service which I do not have! They refuse to give me my money and even apologize for lying to me. What a bunch of crooks!

All of the sudden, $400 dollars went missing from my Checking Account.

I checked what it was and Direct TV withdrawed this money from my account WITHOUT my consent.

I NEVER was on AUTO-PAY with Direct TV.

I have disputed this charge with my bank.

I am very upset. I never gave authorization or OK to this charge. This is unsettling to think, just b/c I made past payments with this card, they can charge it whenever they would like.

On 02/02/2017, My Samsung TV picture went out and the standby button started flashing. I have the Premier Protection Plan that protects your electronics so I called for my Samsung TV. The first agent I spoke to told me he would send a Tech to repair the TV when it should have been shipped. I received the shipping box and I had the TV taken off the wall. By 02/04/2017, I was so confused as to how to get it in for repair. I escalated to the Office of the President to get it resolved. I received a call from Kayla (Supv) that stated they would have someone come out since I was provided incorrect information. The Video TV repair called me to asked about the issue with the TV so I explained the following: I was watching the TV and left out for about 1 or 2 hours only come back with a blinking standby light.

I called Samsung and was told it sound as if the motherboard was having issues. The TV repair place stated they knew exactly what the issue is with the TV. On 02/16/2017, the TV repairman took no longer than 15 minutes to repair it. It was the motherboard just Samsung and TV repairman stated. The Video repairman told me not to connect the TV back to the Direct TV Genie box because the Genie is causing the issues with the Samsung TV. Also, he stated that Directv is aware of it which infuriated me because it's affecting all of my expensive 4K - TVsThey've had several calls and had to repair a lot of TV connected to Genies. He instructed me to call Directv and request a Genie replacement. DIRECTV is costing customers thousands of dollars to repair or replacement TVs because will not proactively replace and notify the customers. THIS IS NEGLIGENT!!

Directv is saying I didn't return their DVR and has been trying to charge me for it . I did mail it. Well day before yesterday I was approached by a young man saying he could save me money on my bill and said he was from Dish. I have Dish and the price is high but I am happy with them. So save me money stay with same company GREAT. He later told me that Dish and Directv were now the same. He said "Dish and Directv are now the same" exact words!!! Ok I believed him because once I spoke to a person from a number I always use to pay bill ,upgrade or whatever , and he tried to convince me to switch to Directv. Ok they came latter that day and put the satellite on the house. They scratched the top of my mothers dresser moving a t.v. Pretty bad. And I didn't get local channels. I was told it may take a few hours.... after watching some crap i got a error screen saying I need to refresh.

I didn't have a account number so couldn't create a account. I called Directv and they wanted $326.. I had a few choice words for her which I shouldn't have said but. He straight out lied to me took $50 knowing he tricked me all with a smile on his face. In a text he said "its tv ,it's all the same". I have much more to say. They want me to mail their property back so they can say I didn't mail it again and charge me $300 plus again. STAY AWAY FROM DIRECTV.

On Friday, February 10th I called DirectTV to subscribe new service. The customer service rep Jonathan was the person who was taking my order for new service. Before accepting DirectTV for my new service, I told the customer service rep, Jonathan that currently I am with Spectrum Cable formerly Brighthouse for nearly 13 years. The reason I was leaving Brighthousecable, because I needed to lowered my overhead only. Brighthouse was excellent. I told him I currently watch the following channels, Telemundo, Univision, Fixer Upper (homes), Entertainment TV. I told him that I had to have these channels. The rep stated that these were included. The rep mention a Spanish package where there are additional Spanish channels. And I told him that I was not interested because I did not want all my channels to be in Spanish. I told him that I was bilingual and like to see programs in English also. I emphasize that I only wanted my 4 channels. The rep requested my SS# for a credit check, then requested $26 for equipment fee.

The following day Saturday, February 11th my DirectTV was installed. The following day, Sunday, February 12th I try to put on Telemundo and its said "not available". Monday, February 13th I call, spoke to another service rep, and she said that Telemundo is not part of the package. I was very upset, the rep said if I want the channel Telemundo that I have to pay an additional $7 added to my monthly bill. After arguing I knew this was a losing battle for me. So I gave in, because I needed the Telemundo channel and accepted to pay the additional $7 more. Later on about 5:30PM I notice I still don't have the channel Telemundo, called DirectTV again, another customer service got disconnected and spoke to another customer service rep, and she said that I will need another Satellite Dish for the channel and that I would have to pay $49 more plus the $7 a month more. I requested a Supervisor because for everyone one I spoke to I got different information. The supervisor was unable to help me and he transfer me to another dept. The international dept, said that I would need another dish and I have to pay $123.00 plus the $7 a month. I am 82 years old widower on social security only, and I am so depress and angry because the first rep took advantage, lie and this company DirectTV will not fix this issue and take responsibility for there mistakes. I need you BBB to help me. Thank you

I found the charge "DTV*DIRECTV SERVICE" on my credit card statement from last month. I have never signed up with any direct tv service ot ATT. I do not have any other fraudulent charges on my account. I submitted a claim a week ago and cannot get anyone to help me or acknowledge that this is a problem.

I guess the only way is to go to my credit card company and report this as a fraudulent charge.

I just would like to know why its my only fraudulent charge.

I suspect they bought a list of numbers and are running them to see.

March 2016 I contacted Directv to cancel my service, explained I was switching back to DishNet because of all the rate increases by Directv.

After several minutes on the phone, the rep and I reached an agreement that I would stay a customer of Directv at the cost of $59.15 per month (after a $10 discount for 12 months and a $24 discount for 24 months)...neither discount has expired at this time.

Today (1/29/2017) I received my bill from Directv with includes and increase in cost, which created a Nreach of Contact.

Spoke with Jessica at directv and was informed yes, they increased my rates, then would not answer my questions as to why they broke our contract. I was told everyone got an increase regardless of contracts.

I asked to be let out of my contract and was promptly told I would have to pay a cancellation fee...How can I be charged a cancellation fee when I am not the party who Breached our contract, Diectv breached our contract.

After several moments I asked to speak to a supervisor and after 5 minutes was told I was speaking with Jessica, a supervisor who prompty informed me that we was making notations in my record. I informed her of my conversation with the other Jessica and she preceededc to tell me she was aware of the converstation and that I will have to either pay a cancellation fee if I want out of my contract....

I do not understand what contract she was talking about being Directv breached the contract we had..

I informed the supervisor that I would be filing complaints and will attempt to file a lawsuit against Diectv for breach of contract, deseptive sales practices (meaning the promises, both verbal and in writing I got from them in order to remain a customer of Directv) by any legal mean that I can.

I can not affored to pay more than I am already paying being our only source of income is a small amount from Social Security and a Disability check from the Veterans Administration.

We gave written permission to direct tv to install a dish BEHIND an apartment building on a pole. And instead they drilled into our roof and installed it on the front of the building. Very gheto. After hours of calls and arguements I have finally sent a letter to all tenants that Direct tv will not be allowed here any more and warned them that if they will not remove their ugly dishes from our building we will remove and dispose of them.

They have AWFUL call center people, most barely speak and dont understand English.

The company will not accept any responsibility to repair damage they cause.... dont allow them on your property...

Direct Tv was having a promotion and they said if I signed up I would receive a $200 visa card that I could spend anywhere. So I signed up because of that, I waited for my Visa card for 30 days never came I argued with them for four months when I asked to talk to supervisors they then said I was never offered that they lied. So I started doing research of how many people DirecTV has lie to scam harassed and made their life and effing living hell. So I found an attorney and the attorney has filed suit for the visa gift card and for the attorney charges. I did research for about three months Direct Tv owners are criminals liars and just downright thieves. What's amazing is they keep doing it and they think they're getting away with it but I am a Christian and Farrow thought he was getting away with slaving the Jews. Then Moses came along, now Moses this Sister has come along that be me.

I have prayed to the Lord God Almighty to bring judgment on DirecTV and avenge all the people that were lied to and cheated. And this goes into the tens of thousands of people. Direct Tv has been sued numerous times this what this is what happens when a company gets that big they think they just can do anything to anybody but I'm here to tell you kids, there's a God and Israel his name is Christ in me thank you for your time and God bless all the people that was lied to and ripped off God to restore our fortunes in Jesus name I pray for everybody I love you but I don't love Direct Tv or anybody and especially where the lies trickle down from which is the top and we know who they are and so does everybody else have a good day this is Moses sister signing off's sister Christian Patty Smith and Patty Smith Moses.

Direct tv billed my disability card $682.44 I dont even have an account with them. I called direct tv to find out why they asked if i had ever used my card to pay a bill for somwone else i responded yes one time a friend needed his bill paid but didnt have the money so i paid his bill and when he got paid he then paid me. Direct tv couldnt find an account in my name or the name of the person i had paid the bill for and couldnt tell me why they took the money from my account.

I filed a dispute with direct tv and they emailed me saying that the address on my card matches the one on the bill and they would not refund my money. I live at a residence that has one address but several renters and if they are going to take my rent money out of my account the least they could do is tell me who they took it for i just want my money back i dont find this fair i didnt give them permission to take this money how can they get away with this?

I looked on my bank account and saw that direct tv took 259.43 from my bank account as I don't have direct tv. I let my daughter use my card to make a payment. When I called they told me that I could not have my card removed and they had every right to take the money out of my account. They couldn't talk to me because my name wasn't on the account but they had every right to take my money with out my permission. They refused to remove my card off the account saying they have the right to keep my information but I didn't have the account. I told them they are a scammer and fraud. The hey still refuse to give me back my money.

My wife and I started getting DirectTV service when we moved to a new town. We were both ex religious, she a nun and I a monk. We both had jobs all our lives but were in our mid to late 70s when Bon was diagnosed with cancer. She fought this for almost four years but left this world in July of this year. We had a two story house but found getting up the stairs were too much for both of us. We decided to turn over the house to our son with the small mortgage and we had a small mobile home erected about 100 feet from the house. We had had service from Direct TV for about twenty years and always paid our bills. We told them to bring the service to our new home. All was done and fine until my wife passed away in July of this year. We had been married very happily for 46 years. Since we were not in any way wealthy people I decided I wanted to stop getting Direct TV service since with only one income the $120 cost per month was just too much for the few channels I watched. My son called them and they told him I would have to pay then something like $232 for breaking the contract. So I surmised that instead of just moving our service a hundred feet they cancled it and opened a new contract to make the most money they could from a customer for the past 20 years. What kind of people are they taking advantage of a 78 year old man who just lost his wife? I was never sent a bill for that amount but am now being dubbed for that amount. I find the lack of understanding and greed sad and disgusting. I told my latest dunner to send me the bill and I'll pay it.

Deceptive billing practices. Every month my bill was higher than it was suppose to be. They kept adding channel;s I did not want and said I needed to call in and cancel them. I did not order these channels and yet every month my bill was charged. I had to call in 8 consectuve months to have it corrected. This company is a scam.

Got scammed by Direct TV and wanted to get out of the contract but they asked us to Subpoena the recording. I know for a fact that I never got a call from a third party to accept terms set by Direct TV.

To get out of the contract it would have cost us $480 and the Subpoena to request the recording is $600. Direct TV knows that no customer is going to request the Subpoena due to the cost. All I can say is buyer beware and avoid Direct TV at all cost. Its a horrible company and the customer service specifically called me a Liar on recording and what I asked the manager to review the recording he said they dont record all of the recordings. Shame on this company!

Ever since AT&T has taken over DIRECT TV cable service I have been having trouble with my satellite reception. Once when I loss the signal I called their I service and was advised that for $49 I could have a repairman come out and fix the satellite. That was after I told them that my receiver was displaying code 771 - which means loss of satellite signal. Well after talking to the rep for a few minutes, he said that the price could be reduced, and then later in the conversation he told me that he could offer me a one-time free service call. I ended this conversation by telling the rep that I did not need a free service call because the satellite in question had nothing to do with me, that it was their responsibility to maintain their equipment, and I really thought that this was just a ploy to get more of the comsumers dollars. The TV reception came back on by itself a couple of hours later, but today once again I am unable to get what I pay for. The local channels are not visible and error code 771 is once again appearing. It is terrible what these companies do. Cable TV is a set it and then forget it service, the only time somethng goes wrong is when someone tampers with the system. I know this because for 2 years I had a scrupulous service man who 3 or 4 times a year toyed with the wiring from the satellite to my building in order to justify his salary, I complained to management of Direct TV - it took me almost 1 year to get them to look into what I was saying, but when they finally came out to my building and saw what was going on they figured out that the service man was bilking them (I think they get paid more when there is more service calls on their records) It ended up that they gave me a couple of months free service (which really did not equal the 2 years of harassment I was getting) but a settlement is better than nothing. At any rate, if anyone of you are having a satellitel signal problem with your DirectTV AT&T connection, do not just say you will pay for service, that bill is unjust

On October 13, 2016 I called DirecTV to get a deal on a bundle of satelite TV and internet since we were moving to a difference house. They offered me a package for $70 and I was told that the internet was going to be faster that what I already had. They made sound that the internet service was going to be from AT&T since they're sister companies. When they came to my house to install the internet we didn't know that it was a different company untill we were ready to sign for the installation and we were told that the company is "excede" a company who works together with DirecTV. I was charge $99 on my card plus $110 from the installer for the installation. The next day when I called the exede company to get more details I found out that I have a contract with them for 2 years. I told them that I never agreed to it they told me that I agreed to it when I sign for the installation and I had to pay $360 if I wanted to cancell the service. I tried to cancell it thru DirecTV since the agreement was done thru them and they told me that they couldn't do anything about it.

How were they able to share my credit card information without my permission and they can't cancell the contract?

Tha'ts ridiculous both companies DirecTV and excede are a ripoff and they're abusing their customers!!

At this moment all I want is cancell my contract with these companies!!

How can DirecTV borrow their name for such a ripoff!!

I used my SS debit card to my ex wife for the down payment and they disconnected her service and they took $231.41 out of my SS debit card. I didn't know they could touch my SSA without letting me know or approving it.. They said I would get a refund on a debit card in 7 to 10 days. I will let you know if I get it.

I responded to an add that offered a 100.00 visa gift card if you signed up for direct tv within so much time. I called and the salesperson said he would heck to see if I was elgible for the promotion. Then he came back and said that i was in fact elgible but i had to pay for my first months fees that day, so I did. I had the service for three month and called to ask where the gift card was, I was told that it generally takes two - months. I waited another month and called again, I was then told that it had been mailed to me, I told them that I had never got it and he said he would check it out and someone would call me back.

I contacted them again after a month but this time I did it on line, when i explained the situation she told me that I wasnt elgible for the gift card. I asked why I was told i was when i purchased the services and then told it takes 3 months to get it and then told it was sent to me if I wasnt elgible. She said she would have her supervisor call me with in 20 minutes. Since I was at work and had to go back to work, I could not accept the call when she finally called me back 35 minutes later. After work I called back and explained the entire sistuation agin and was told she would transfer me to her supervisor. I waited on hold for 40 minutes and he got on the phone and told me he knows it was wrong that I was told differently 3 times but that I was not elgible for the gift card.

How many people do they do this to that either forget they have the card coming or just accept that they werent elgible? I am willing to hand my gift card over to a charity at this point if someone will help me fight this big corporation. Its the point. and it is false advertising.

My daughter was walking to a friends house, she noticed a Direct T. V. van pull into the Hobby Lobby parking lot. And park in the back unused section, as she passed the man got out. And approached her blocking her path. He proceeded to ask her how old she was, she replied 16 and moved to go around him. He then told her she could make a lot of money if she'd just get in his van. They could have some fun he'd go to the bank, get her some money. She yelled "No" and walked off. This sick pervert proceed to follow her 5 blocks up the street till my daughter called the police. This incident started at Jaun Tabo and Copper and ended at Copper and Chelwood. Where the Direct TV installer took off as soon as the police showed up. Be careful who you invite into your home especially in Albuquerque, New Mexico

We quit DIRECTV. We returned the equipment. DIRECTV was suppost to refund us all monies overcharged. DIRECTV sent the Citi-VISA debt card which was suppot to have $14.36 balance. Expiration date 1/2017 (current date is 10/2016). I went to a store to use the card and they told me the card had $0.00 balance. Upon research I found out the card charges a non-use fee. FRAUD!! HOW DARE DIRECTV SEND ME THIS DEBIT CARD IN LIEU OF THE MONEY THEY OWE ME. Son of a b****!

On September 21st I called Directv to get their bundle service. I was told wild blue or exceed would be my internet provider. At the time of this call I was told it would be several weeks to receive my Visa card for $200. Then I was told my card would not be charged till installation date. It was charged that day. The directv customer service representative told me they had found me a bundle called exede. From the time this internet provider was installed I have had terrible connection. When I called the next day someone there told me I was in. A Two year contract. I was told my contract was with directv. I did not realize it was with exede too. Directv has been giving me the runaround and promised a person from their escalation dept would call me Saturday morning. I waited and no one called. They had me waiting for an hour and told me they would help me and then said it would take about 5-7 business days to answer. Getting different answers every time I call. The other service exede was making an $88.20 charge on my card. Saying this was my first bill cycle. They are the worst internet service I have ever used. If I want to leave them I have to pay over $300 to get out of their contact. Directv says if I want to disconnect it will be $480. I feel since Directv says this is a bundle it should be one bill. They tell me there are two. I was deceived with this internet bundle and Visa card scam. Please advise.

Directv is a scam I have refered 3 different people with the refer a friend deal 4 months ago and have NOT recieved my discounts, When I called them to inquire about this all they can tell me is I need to contact them and get their account numbers and call back.....Well the deal goes like this.... 1. give your "friend" your account # and name and when they call in and order they give your information and both you and your "friend" get $10 off a month for 10 months 2. when your "friend" orders and had service installed then your next billing cycle you should see your discount.

Why do i need to bother and get other account #'s when they had mine from the start and used it. Directv will not honor this discount now because I refuse to call back with account #'s and get my discount.

I will be changing my service to Dish Network from here on out I'm so tired of the Directv customer service and disrespect I recieve from them being a loyal customer, I have been a customer for over 3 years (this time) but I'm also an AT&T customer and I have been for 10+ years if this company os this shady what else can i count on in the future?

I will be checking into switching service for both TV and Phone!

I was approached by a cydcor/Direct TV salesmen and informed that they had a bundle deal of 4 tv for choice package, 75 mbps, and a home telephone for $115/month. He said no install fees or equipment rental. I scheduled the installation and found out from the installation tech that it was a package deal with Direct TV as cable and Cincinnati bell as the Internet and phone. He said that the Internet and phone would be schedule for another time. After waiting a couple of days and not hearing from them I called Direct TV. I was informed that there was a $29.95 install fees and I said that the deal I agreed to had no install fees and told him I wouldn't pay it. He then deleted the Internet and phone portion off my account and told me to call cincinnati bell directly that they would have me in their system. Called cincinnati bell and they said they didn't have no record of me and told me to call direct tv back. I did and got no where, no supervisor available. I waited a few more days called back. I was then told they could only offer Internet service of 5 mbps and no home phone for the $115/month. I told them that I want the deal that I signed for or they need to cancel my service and I was told that they would charge me a cancellation fee of $480. I told them since they are not providing the services agreed to that they are the ones failing to meet the deal and I should not be charged for the cancellation. She then told me that they are provided their portion of the deal as agreed and they have nothing to do with the Internet and phone. I told her that it was a direct tv representative that made this deal and cincinnati bell was not involved when I signed the contract so yes they should be held to the contract or cancel at no cost to me. She then asked if I was cancelling or keeping the account and I told her she needs to cancel with no cancellation fee and after 2-3 minutes she hung up.

I am writing as a longtime customer and I am not only unhappy and planning to leave. I am never going to recommend you folks as well.

Here is why

I have been a customer for over 10 years and my contract is coming up and spoke to your folks about what they could do to keep me. I spoke to my local cable company and get a apple for apples price. I call your company and a young lady said she would help me. This is what she said she would provide me. All I needed was a 12 month commitment.

1) They offered me a new dish that would help with drop outs from storms

2) They would lower my bill to $75 month for 6 months with these discounts

a) 6 month discount for all my premium channels

b) 12 month discount

c) paperless discount

d) moving discount

3) NFL package at no charge

4) 4K upgrade no charge.

First they imputed the work order and when they had to redo they had to make a new order, this took about an hour. They also told me that they would fix the errors on rates. They never told me that there were any issues.

When the tech showed up today he told me there was no such dish(I was lied to) they had no order for 4K and when I was told that there would be no charge would I like to have it done. I said yes and then was told I would lose my discounts. I spoke to a service person form outside the country and was no help and did not listen. I was also on hold for 15 minutes waiting to speak to a manager.

When I was finally so frustrated I called your corporate office and was told there was NO way to speak to your corp location. When I did I was connected to a person in the US and he was a little more helpful however he could only give me so much help.

DirecTV stole $514 dollars from me. I don't have an account with them but I let someone else use my card to pay a persons bill a few times. I haven't done so in over 3 months. Then suddenly, DirecTV takes all of my money leaving me with nothing. They won't reverse the charges until their finance department "reviews the account" but I don't have an account with them. NO account number NO phone number associated with the account but they took my money and alot of it. How can they do that if I don't have an account with them? I did authorize a couple of payments but can they just take money whenever they want to pay someone elses bill? I noticed there is a class action lawsuit against them for similar issues. Taking money without authorization. I hope I get my money back or am able to sue them for this. It's just wrong to do that to someone.

I had directv service for almost 5 years, last year in March I moved and I called them to move my service, they just put me in a new 24 month agreement called movers deal. Just because I moved I got impaled with new contract. So after 1 year I had to move again, but this location I could take the service with me, so I have to call and cancel the service. They charged me $280 in cancelation fee and other fees, they said they will send a box to get the equipments back. I never get the boxes and I got charged another $155 for the equipment that I didn't return. They send me a bill with a about of $437.55. So I call them to see what's going on and why I didn't receive the boxes to send their equipment back. So today I checked my bank account and I saw they charged $437.55 without my authorization. They not even have my new debit card numbers. I don't know how they get it and how they charged without my knowledge. So I call the bank to dispute the charge because it is a unthorized charge.

Directv breached their contract an according to a lawyer online for free advice we are obligated to close the rest of the contract an pay no additional contract fees. this lawyer also had said they have been receiving several complaints a month about the same problems. directv has been persistent for more than 90 days an now wants to charge us an additional 30 dollars a month more. we paid 55 an change a month an after 1 year they had charged us 99 an change which was not in the contract deal written as 72 an change which included taxes an fees. the clincher is we were told to change our debt card number to a new number so they have no more access, an guess what, illegally they hacked our bank an got the new number an drew the amount. the bank was notified an they had went after directv an had the money reverse.

This company is a good example of of cronie captlisum. Called to ask a qustion of my bill. The poor worker is reading from a computer screen. Was not helpful and pissed me off. If a company cn hire people like this they have no business being in busines. Not a good company if AT&T is now owners then it sets a presidence as to what AT&T is.

A person representing DirectTV rang my doorbell to my home. He asked me if I was happy with Dish Network, I replied that I was. He asked me questions trying to get me to respond negatively about Dish Network. He asked to come into my home to see what receivers that I had, and I told him "no." He wanted me to call my husband at work, and other such nonsense. He never once said who he was representing. He wrote his number on piece of paper that I provided because he didn't "ran out of business cards." I told him I would call him if we were interested. This was about 3:30 p.m.

He came by later in the evening about 9:00 p.m. and started talking to me through my window. I could not see him and he startled me. He said that he could see that my husband was home and wanted to talk to him. My husband let him in, he went through the same speech with him that I heard. We told him we would contact him if we were interested.

Two days later I received an alert from Equifax in my email. I went to my account with Equifax and sure enough, there was an inquiry about my credit from DirectTV! I called Landon to ask him why he was checking my credit and to see if the number was ligit and he apologized. He said that he must have accidently pushed a button! He told me it wouldn't ding my credit, that it was a "soft" credit check! I didn't give him personal information or a credit card.

I contacted my tv provider Direct tv to get internet in my area. They have a provider they use Exede. Direct tv promised a $69. Bill I received a $92. Bill from Exede and I was told I would have 30 gigs. When I called to see why my bill was so high I asked about the gigs. Exede laughed at me and said Direct tv lied and she has been getting calls all day about how they lie to people and I would only get 12 gigs. When I called both companies supervisors they passed the buck back and forth to no avail. I called to cancel last night and they told me I have to crawl up on My roof and send equipment back and there is a $400. cancellation fee that I have to pay. I am 72 yrs old I can't get up on my roof and now I will have to pay someone to do that! Please help!

  • Jun 24, 2016

Be very careful if DIRECTV offers a good deal for services and want to install it immediately so they can disconnect your current provider and then want you to cancel their services within a day or two. When you see the bill a few days later it will be much higher than what you agreed to and it will be hard and expensive to change back. They are ripping off customers and then will want to charge cancellation fees when you tell them you are switching back to your original provider because they are charging you for more than what you agreed to with their sales representative. Beware and keep away form this scam.

Direct TV treats customers like children that need to be punished! I was set up on automatic payments and in January the payment didn't go through (twice) before I caught it. My credit card had expired (ever have that happen anyone?). There response was to suspend my ability to make my payments online or re-setup automatic payments for the next SIX months. I have to send it in or call and make my payment (anyone out there enjoy calling direct tv and the time it takes??).

Now, if I've been a good little girl (customer) for the next six months with no late payments then they will reinstate my ability to pay online or set up automatic payments. What? Why not just spank me and get it over with! I called during month 5 and asked if they could waive the last month but answer is NO. We gave you your punishment, now we are sticking to it. I've been a customer for YEARS and have spent hundreds on extra services and pay-per-view movies. What do I think of how you treat loyal customers concerning this: DISGUSTING, and I'm sticking my tongue out too! I think I'll go back to good old easy peasy cable!

There is a company going door to door in the Youngstown area called Directv Now. This is my story about what happened. 1 hour after he left all my tvs were saying 771 searching for satellite. There was an old Directv dish on my roof. He took off the old one and put a new on up. He left the pieces of the old dish laid out in my driveway. When I was picking up all the dish pieces I noticed the wires hanging off my roof. When I followed the wires they were going in front of my steps of my back door. They were pulled so tight I could not open my door all the way. When I called Directv I found out Directv Now was a sub contracter for Directv. Directv sent out a properly trained technician to fix all the problems. I didn’t have to tell him what was wrong he could see it. He had to redo my install. He replaced everything. If Directv Now comes to your door tell them to leave. If you want Directv call Directv and they will send out a properly trained technician to do the install. Thanks

  • Jun 13, 2016

Be aware of Directv salesman going door door. The company is called Directv Now. They are a 3rd party for Directv sales and installs. The company is out of Pittsburgh PA. They have been going door to door in the Youngstown OH area. You do not want these people doing your install. They put the my dish going into a tree and moved the dish 3 time which left holes in my roof. I had it for 5 days and it never worked right. I called Directv and they sent out a proper technician to fix all my problems. I had a lot of problems. Besides the holes the wiring was done wrong.

If Directv Now comes to your door do not get anything off them. If you want Directv call Directv and they will send out proper technicians to do the install.

I am a new customer thought I was signing up for promotion deal 5090. It was read directv choice package plus AT&T internet for $44.99 per month for twelve months. My sales representative had even stressed that what I was currently paying for cable I would pay the same but get over 175 channels and high speed internet. So ,he had me sold! Time went by and after one month received a bill I took it back to the store were I purchased the services and found out he didn't bundle my services so she fixed it and said I wouldn't owe since it's now bundled. I paid two deposits and she said that it would pay the first months bill. Another month went by and I got a bill for $177.44. I call and then they tell me I not only owe for last month but a second month now! I was livid, I tell them what was said and keep getting the run around, and on top that the 3 months of showtime,HBO that they say they let you have got shut off in two months. Its getting ridiculous and I am at my end. I finally was about to give in today and pay it because the tenth person I have spoke with said it will be fixed and my promo will be praised, well..... So I thought, I looked today on my AT&T account online it says I now owe $295.33 WTF?????? 3months at $44.99 that doesn't total $295. I m DONE!!!!!!
