Vintage Motors LLC Reviews

  • Nov 16, 2015

Nathan York, Vintage Motors LLC OKC OK 73101 uses deceptive pictures and descriptions to sell junk cars on EBay.

We purchased a MGB that he described as “Mechanically refreshed ... to make sure it was road ready.” In addition to this description, the pictures he posted of the car did not match the condition of the car we received. One picture showed the vehicle with an opened trunk and the inside had no damage. However, we received a car which had a broken trunk lock mechanism and we weren’t able to open the trunk for days. When we finally opened the trunk we discovered there was damaged to the left wheel well. This damage was not shown on the pictures he posted on eBay. When confronted with this information Mr. York tried to blame the trunk issue on a possible break-in during transit, which was very unlikely since the trunk lock was completely inoperable due to a missing part of the lock mechanism. This necessary piece of the lock was not present inside the trunk when we finally got the trunk opened, which clearly shows that the lock was already malfunctioning while in his possession otherwise we would have found the missing part inside or other items that were inside missing. Another picture showed a firewall gasket in place on the passenger side, but the car we received had wires incorrectly sent through that opening without a gasket in place. The exhaust pipe also was different on the pictures from the car we received.

Most importantly, Mr. York claimed that the car was “road ready”. The car did not go more than just a few miles before it began to present strong fuel smells, engine sputter, power issues, steering and front end wheel misbalance endangering us on the road. Not to mention the numerous holes on the undercarriage panel when Mr. York claimed the car had no rust. Nathan York did not bother to repost updated pictures of the car on EBay, so prospective bidders could see the true condition of the MGB. Had he done that, it is possible we wouldn't have purchased this MGB for that price.

Mr. York, will tell you that the car is 40 years old and these things are to be expected. He also will tell you that all these damages and issues we are reporting are 'hitting him from left field because he was not aware of them.' It is obvious that the pictures he used to sell this car on EBay were taken before the car was involved in some type of accident which left the car in a non-driveable unsafe condition. Judging from the pictures and description, we thought we were bidding on a fairly nice and driveable MGB. We were deceived by his bogus pictures of the car and false description of its condition. This MGB was Not Road Ready, as he claimed. It is costing us over $4000 to get it safe to drive, another $2000 to correct the rusted panels underneath.

The ‘as is’ statement is not a license to scam people. We were ripped-off by Nathan York of Vintage Motors LLC, Oklahoma City, OK because he did not described the true current condition of the car, and the pictures he posted on EBay were not of the most current condition of the car. Buyer Beware!!!
