VCA Animal Hospitals Reviews

VCA Emergency Clinic. Edinger Ave Tustin, CA. Took my 9 pound chihuahua here last night, for stomach problems. Dr. Gary Uyeno was the vet on call. My little dog was in pain. Knowing she had a level 6 heart murmur he gave her Buprenorphine (which I found out later, is not FDA approved for animals) Before I even left the facility my dog was panting profusely. The doctor informed me that this was normal. We got home and things got progressively worse. By now, it's 3 am. I called another emergency hospital and rushed her in. By the the time we got there she was in critical condition. They put her in an oxygen tank to help her breathe. I tearfully went home and prayed she'd be ok. She died 2 hours later. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! AND DO NOT TRUST DR. GARY UYENO! I had a bad feeling about him immediately and wished I would had listened to my gut. It took one click on Google to see my sweet little dog SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN GIVEN THIS DRUG! I just called American Express and they credited me the $239.

This place charged me. The money is not an issue for me, but I will be damned if I will give this quack money for killing my dog! Beware of Dr. Gary Uyeno, DVM My heart is shattered and the pain of losing my little Dog, is overwhelming. The CA Veterinary Board is currently investigating, Dr. Gary Uyeno DVM. I hope they take his license! I had to have multiple months of therapy bc of of this incident. I literally fell apart.

I took my dog to a VCA animal hospital in Shelton Ct after my primary doctor referred me there over a 2 year period . He failed to complete age appropriate blood work. It turned out his son managed one of the local branches. They failed to rule out disorders, prematurely placed my dog on antibiotics for an infection that didn't exist that they discovered when his urine sample came back, he was there to have his airways examined because he was showing signs of exercise intolerance and they forced him to have his nails cut after I specifically told them not to he requires sedation. I was given 10 pages of other anianimals records in my dog's written file and then they never gave me his chest x-ray ultrasound or blood pressure readings when he entered into a crisis and couldn't walk unasisted. My primary wouldn't take him back and they insisted my my primary recommend me go to another doctor if they couldn't handle it. My animal was in crisis!I had to go get a second opinion from another specialist which cost more money and find a new primary doctor my primary physician accused me of swearing at them and placed a note in my dogs file. I did not get to speak to my doctor..they claimed he was out of the office and they lost my note. All while my dog was in crisis. There are few rights for animals they are considered property similar to a car. Veterinarians do not feel threatened by law suites, historically there has been little liability. VCA Lacey Hospital (Lacey Animal Clinic), recently scammed me by not approving a prescription for NexGuard so I could buy it on 1800petmeds.com as it was so much cheaper. $45 per box, plus 1800petmeds gave more discounts if you bought a larger supply, which I was going to buy a year for both of my dogs. Here it is, I live about 70 miles south of VCA in Lacey, WA. I only started using them when I moved to Washington. I've been using them for years as I move a lot for my work. I've used them for over 5 years when I adopted my pets. So I found out the other day when I drove there to get a copy of the prescription so I could email it to petmeds myself as they got a prescription that said my dogs needed an exam prior to approval of the medication and I had already had my pets exam done 3 months ago and paid a lot of money. So when I got there, I asked for a copy as I was mad at 1800petmeds and thought they were lying to me, as VCA kept saying they approved it and sent 1800petmeds the approval. So I get a copy of the fax they sent them and sure enough it said my dogs need an exam first. I tell her why the hell would you send them that and she looked in the computer and said I don't know why, but the doctor is saying you need another exam first. I said well how much more is this going to cost. $59 per dog. I'm like hell no, I paid that 3 months ago, I was about to leave and they said you can still get the prescription here, so I asked the price it was $160 for 6 pills, I asked do you match 1800petmeds and she said no, I was like well I have to buy them, cause I can't wait for an appt for another exam, I scheduled an exam and they couldn't get them in for several weeks. When I got home, I called around and found a local veternarian that charges half the cost, only $20 for exam per dog, the vaccines are half the price and they could get me in a few days later. So I called VCA and told them to cancel the appt, and I'd never use them ever and I would tell the world about their lies and way they do business. Scam to get me to buy from them and not give a prescription. I mean I can get a prescription for my contacts/glasses and then buy from an online retailer. Why not dog presriptions too. So sad...
