University of Phoenix Reviews

I also had to withdraw the money of my student loan on file out and now UOP want to charge me that money to go back to school when I didn't take the courses it was intended for. Also after all these years numerous times I have been granted deferment and they have never done it my taxes are being garnished every year because of thier lack in doing as they said they were going to do because of a financial hardships. I want these people to take all the money that I owe them off my record and call it paid because everything I have paid for has been not accredited so therefore I have wasted money. U O P is a joke had I known that I would have never signed up and stayed up many of nights completing all my assignments just to try to do better for my children. I believe that doing what they do to the lower class citizens is demeaning and wrong.

I am very offended aggravated and frustrated that I have to pay for this the rest of my life because of this they have ruined my credit report.

Back in 2009 I enrolled in the University of Phoenix online learning university. At the time I thought it was a good school. I was wrong. I obtained an associates and bachelor’s degree and last year in 2017 I enrolled in the master’s Program. Recently I have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and have been placed on 100% disability and cannot work. . I informed the academic and financial aide support people of my situation. I was told by my physicians due to my illness that I needed to focus all my attention; on getting well. Because of my illness I could not give them a time when I could come back to school to complete the program.

The University of Phoenix has now billed me $7,210 dollars because they money back that was provided through financial aid. Now they are threatening me with immediate payment for the three remaining classes that I have not been able to complete due to my illness. No one at the University told me that I was doing anything wrong but now they are trying to say that I did not notify them of my situation when I have every email that I sent to the academic counselors and the financial counselors. They are going to post this on my credit report and I feel that this is very unfair and wrong when all the while I tried my best to keep them informed of my health issues. I would suggest that before anyone enroll in this University to do research on their unfair and unethical ways of obtaining money from unknowledgeable students. I am going to contact a consumer attorney to fight this because they have done this to many other students in the past and I will not lay down and let them destroy my reputation because they are more interested in money than really trying to help students.

I am 60 years old, and I have been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. I have several other illnesses, After all the money they have already gotten out of me, you would think they would be willing to work with me. I tried to explain to them my situation and got no solution. It is about money; money and more money. They do not care who they hurt. I never thought a company would do something like this. Therefore, this is the reason why they have a F rating. I want to find a way to stop this type of unfair business practices.

How can a company charge someone for services or products that they have not gotten?

University of Phoenix has been very deceptive and I feel like it's alot of uncover scheming and fraudulent activities going on. They section the call from academic, financial,an your enrollment advisor yet these people that specializes in these areas can never answer any questions. I have transferred credits and it hasn't been applied, I have yet to get my funding, the courses are in fact a rip off way to high for these computer basic classes they are more focused on collecting money and why do we have to pay for future classes in advance when you get Financial aid you pay for ur current class not future.

The school received my funds today now I have to wait another 14days it's always something with there finance department I feel like this school needs to in fact be shutdown they should not be able to get any kind of funding they are FRAUDULENT and deceptive

I talked to them on the phone An they told me my education wouldn’t cost anything. That I could get grants An they would help. That was a lie because at the end of my associate I saw they wanted 28,000 I had to stop with my degree because I can’t afford to pay that back. I was never able to get help from them while I was doing my classes. Math I struggled in. I don’t even know how I passed that I didn’t learn anything

I started at the UOP back in 2010 and it has been a struggle for me to finish. I am a single mother who works full-time and has two children that have disabilities that take on my full attention. I also told them I struggle with a learning disability and that it takes me longer then others to figure things out. I struggle with writting and reading. However, I finished one degree, my A.A degree in Human Services Management and decieded to get my B.A in Psychology. They told me it will be good for my counseling career I was trying to pursue. Halfway through this program they emailed me that this program is being reviewed by some special team because this program was not promising to students to get a job when they graduate from UOP. If the program failed then the U.S Department of Education was not going to fund students for this program and it would be up to the students to pay for it. I have been through so much with this school and invested 7 years of my life and money to believe they are something good. I need a lawyer and want to fight for justice and fairness.

This has been an ongoing battle with UOP for many years now. I have seen that there have been a couple states that have taken on class action suits as well as multiple individuals. Hopefully there is some way that this will help.

I have read through the stories that other people have shared about how they were denied their transcripts for money that UOP claimed that they owed. I have that same issue. Like most of the reports I have read I am being told that I have to pay them if I want to have these transcripts released and there is really not any good explaination for what the money was for. I have student loans that I owe for the time that I was in school which was supposed to have covered all of the costs associated with these classes.

I haven't had any luck in getting resolution. After fighting to get my student loans paid down and into a status that would allow me to get back on track of getting a degree I am still not able to continue because of my transcripts being held.

I am going to make this simple. I was 15 credits from graduating, and all of a sudden the rug was pulled from underneath me; I owed over $5,000 dollars. To make a long story short, the money that I owed came from a student loan, not them, because I received a disbursement that came from a student loan not University of Phoenix. Well, almost 2 years ago I wanted to finish my BS in Criminal Justice, but they wouldn't provide with my transcripts unless I paid the balance. Well, I contacted their 3rd party vendor, and I paid it. So, what these ladies sued for, I would like to sue for the same thing , because I should not have had to pay UOP and it was a student loan (still paying back my student loans, I owe 75,000). Please help, this is wrong, everyone that attended that college should have been able sue/compensated, not just these 3 ladies.

I signed up for course after an academic advisor informed me they are partnered with numerous companies in order to help graduates find jobs after graduation. She informed me after I finish they will help me find a job. In one of our conversations I asked about how it works and she informed me that after graduation they will help me. I called shortly after graduation and was told they are not partnered with any companies in new york state that they could not help me. I want to buy a house but because my student loans are so high I can't even buy a home. I want a hood job but every time I apply to a job they don't even take a second look at my resume. Probably because they are laughing at this degree that is now worthless. I graduated in 2014 it is now 2017 and after applying and applying nothing. I want to sue these people and get relief on my student loans so I can better my life and put this behind me. I'm a single mother of two and this has ruined my life.

This college was not a good choice for me. Several professors would not be available when needed. Some professors rarely taught anything. They just gave the material such as books and gave me homework and the rest was up to me. I feel I did not learn much while attending there. What little I did learn I taught myself. During one of my classes, I was having a difficult time. I asked to drop the classes, which was not a required course and my advisor advised me to stay in class regardless of the fact I told them i was not going to be able to pass the class. I ended up failing an unrequired class. A class that I need not even need to take. I didn't have any say so on what classes I took until after that failed class, when I stand up for myself and told them that i was going to be involved from that point on to which classes I would take. Each class is a mere 5 week course. They cram everything to learn about the Topix within that 5 weeks. For instance, you take a class (Psychology of Personality), you only have 5 weeks to learn everything there is about it. That is not enough time to learn each course. So anyway, I ended up failing 2 classes and before that I had pretty decent grades. It was because there was not enough time to learn about each course. After failing my first class they just marked it off and allowed me to retake it. When i failed the second course they gave me 3 months to pay for the entire class which was around $1300. My problem with that is had I been allowed to drop that classes or withdraw I would not have failed it. It was my student advisor that insisted I stay in class even after telling him i would be not pass. The teachers at this college are rude, unavailable, and do not teach anything in class. The only way a professor interacts in a class is to comment on posts that students have posted. How in the world is that teaching?? Although, I did have a couple professors that tried to be involved as much as they were permitted the rest were simply just not involved. They literally did not teach or commit much time to the classroom. After the issue with the failed class I was given a few months to pay out of pocket to take that class again, but it was not a required class that i did not agree to take. This college is making millions and not teaching their students anything!

University of Phoenix misled me throughout the recruiting process as they insisted that getting a bachelor in information technology would get me, not only into the door of the IT industry but also numerous job offers.

And, the University of Phoenix recruiter lied to me about the cost of the degree. I was quoted $25k for two years when, in reality, it turned out to be almost $33k. The recruiter and admissions counselor even convinced me to let the school automatically take care of the deposits for the loan.

Since graduating at the end of 2011 with a bachelor in IT from the University of Phoenix, I have applied to hundreds of entry level / desktop jobs and gotten ZERO face-to-face interviews. After spending two years of my life and racking up over $30,000 dollars in tuition… I expect something in return. I got NOTHING.

The truth is, a bachelor in IT from the University of Phoenix gives you absolutely no benefit when competing for even an entry level job in the IT industry. As a matter of fact, studying for a few months and passing the CompTIA A+ Certification is worth 1000x more to anyone looking to get an entry level IT job than earning a bachelor in IT from the University of Phoenix.

The fact that UoP’s recruiters and admission counselors lied to me and that I was naïve (no doubt) as they led me down a road with blatantly false information should not shield them from lawsuits. I am going to seek a lawyer to take up the case against UoP.

I was living in Florida at the time I was taking course online. If anyone has a lawsuit against UoP for misleading potential students or wants to join me in filing a suit against UoP, please contact me at your earliest opportunity.

They say I owe 120$ for something, problem is I had financial aid at the time. I also have givin them a call and stated I am withdrawing myself out of the school due to false information and fake homework on their computers. They have also reported to my credit for this amount.

I recently decided to go back to school to continue my education. I paid off my School Loans in February 2016 or so I thoght. I found out I owed $29.00 still so I immediatly paid that off. I am informed now that I have a ZERO balance and I owe nothing. Now the University of Phoenix Financial people are telling me that I still owe them. I took two classes that were 5 weeks long and completed those two classes. I did withdraw. I paid almost $4000.00 on those two classes. I have my confirmation number from the Pay OFF in FULL and they are still telling me that I owe them. This FBCS is harrassing me now and wont stop. I have talked to the Manager of the Department of Education and they are stating that they faxed the School the confirmation of Paid in Full on 5/17/2016 which they are stating they have not received so they faxed it to them again today. University is telling me that they can not call the Department of Education to verify and the Decpartment of Education is telling me that they are lieing to me that they can call them that schools call them every day to get pay off confirmation for students. NOW, this is really urking me in the butt! I am approved for my financial aid. I have done my requirements and now this is happening. I suggest highly on NOT attending this school. I can not believe that I already am having such troubles with them.

  • Apr 4, 2016

I enrolled 2/3 classes then they were so unorganized I withdraw, I go to do a credit report and someone took 5/6 classes in my name after I stopped attending. I filed a police report like they told me to and after many many calls to different department explaining what happened, they still reported the 10,000 plus to my credit. I have told them over and over it wasn't me. After I left the school, the school still accepted grants for the school which I was previously left. They won't take this off of my credit and call me saying I owe money! Which I explained I only took 2/3 classes not 5/6!!! They have damaged my credit. Idiots!!!

I was hesitant about this university and now im three classes from being "done" and i just want out already. This school is putting me in debt and i dont feel like i can get out. I was recently given funds for excess funding. Which means that excess funds from my student loan was given to me. The counselor had informed me of this a day prior to it happening. The money has been sitting in my account and now the school wants it back. What started out as a little over $1500 that i owe back to them has since turned into them saying that i owe almost $9000 from a return to lender fee. I have never heard of this. I tried to pay the 1500 today since my class was supposed to start but they withdrew me from the class. Now the process is starting and the school says i have to pay. What do i do???

I am trying to get any information University of Proenix showing my attendance at their school, and how my loans were paid out. Because I dfid not receive any money from the School, and I was a full time student. So any money not used for enrollment should have been sent to me but never was. I just want to know where it went. I was hoping someone that reads this can tell me what I need to do, or give me a little advice.

I was a student at the University of Phoenix in the year of 2009. I had to drop out which wasn't a choice of my own, I just recently managed to get my student loans out of default and am now back in schoo. I now attend Ashford University and they have made several attemts to retreive my transcripts which they will not turn over. I paid them over $800.00 that they claimed I owed yet they still want more. I wouldn't recommend this University to anyone, I am out 18 credits, yes I understand that's not many, but it is when you must pay for those credits all over again. What can be done?

  • Jan 14, 2016

I attended The University of Phoenix from 2010-2015, and at first I was quite excited. I breezed through my first couple of years, and received my associates degree with a concentration in information technology/information technology support. I was quickly disappointed when I was unable to find a job, companies looked down on the University of Phoenix diploma's, but I was told by an advisor, that it was probably due to the fact that it was an associates degree. I decided to continue on with my education, because I believed my advisor. I enrolled in the bachelor program for healthcare administration, and soon began to wonder if I was really getting the information I needed for a job in healthcare administration.

I felt that I wasn't gaining any new knowledge that would assist me in getting a job in healthcare administration. I asked for help from my many advisors (it seemed advisors were being changed constantly) but they would just recommend that I use school resources to assist in finding a job, or figuring out which jobs I qualified for. My frustration was growing, and my grades started to suffer. I felt that I was doing class work for nothing, so why try my best. I have a medical background (was a CNA for 18 years, before an injured knee rendered me disabled.

I had always wanted to go into nursing or health care administration, because it was intriguing, and the money was appealing. I thought my background would give me a leg up on my competition. I was five classes away from graduating, when I was told my financial aid ran out. I asked for help from advisors, and even those who were higher up, but no one could help. I mentioned that I was disabled, but that didn't help either. I felt like the university abandoned me. I saw that at that time, the University of Phoenix was offering new students $10,000 off their tuition, I mentioned this to the senior advisor I was talking to, thinking that if they would give me $10,000 off my tuition, I would be able to graduate, but again I was shot Down.

I have been out of school since spring 2015, and an advisor still calls once in awhile, but they still never offer a solution. I see that money really talks, but if you don't have money, don't bother the University of Phoenix My associates diploma still hasn't opened any doors for me, and I see many other people with the same complaints I have, regarding the validity of the diploma and the program. I feel that I should be completely reimbursed for all the student loans I took out, and for what? An education that wasn't up to par with a community college. Please reconsider another college, don't go to the University of Phoenix.

The math teacher flunked me for being 6 points less of requirement. University of Phoenix contacted me about making payments to make up this class which I was willing to but when I contacted them the school did not want payments the school wanted over 400 which I do not have that kind of money I did request a leave of absence so I can get that money to pay for my class but the school withdrew me instead because I did not have the money to pay to retake my math class

I took my MHA and DGA in University of Phoenix. I owed my student loan to $200,000.00. I can not find a job and when ever I go for interview they looked at my Transcripts the interviewer will say, ' A GRADUATE OF UOP.' I DID NOT UNDERSTAND THAT IMPRESSION BUT I AM GETTING THE SAME FEED BACK WHENEVER IG FOR INTERVIEWS. I AM NOT BEING HIRED. I FILED MY APPLICATION TO UNIVERSTY OF PHOENIX TWICE AS ON LINE INSTRUCTOR. I MET ALL THE REQUIREMENTS AND THE RECRUITER DID NOT ACCEPT ME. I ASKED WHY AND SHE CAN NOT GIVE ME ANY REASON AT ALL. THERE WERE QUESTIONS THAT THEY WERE INTERESTED WITH THE HIGH TUITION FEE AND THE AMOUNT THEY WILL GET FROM THE STUDENT LOANS.

RECENTLY, I PUT IN APPLICATION TO CATHOLIC HEALTH CARE INITIATIVES FOR THE ADMINSITRATIVE FELLLOWSHIP PROGRAM BUT ONE OF THEIR REQUIREMENTS IS THE MHA (MASTER OF HEALTH ADMINSITRATION) AND DHD ( DOCTOR OF HEALTH ADMINSITRATION) SHOULD BE ACCREDITED BY CACHME. i DID SOME SEARCHING AND THEY WERE NOT ACCREDITED.

I HAD INFORMED THE UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX Tim Slottow, President, University Of Phoenix AFTER HE SENT ME A MESSAGE THAT THERE STUDENTS TRYING TO DESTROY THE uNIVERSITY. I TOLD HIME THAT THESE STUDENTS ARE TELLING THE TRUTH. I TOLD HIM THAT I WAS MISLED BY THE RECRUITER, ACADEMIC COUNSELOR THAT ONCE I GRADUATED FROM UOP I WILL HAVE LEADERSHIP JOB OR A JOB THAT WILL MEET MY QUALIFICATIONS. tHAT DID NOT HAPPEN UNTIL NOW I AM JOBLESS

SUCH PROMISES AND MISLEADING DID HAPPEN SO THEY WILL GET YOU INTO THEIR DIPLOMA MILL THAT WILL NOT HELP YOU FIND A JOB. I TOLD TIM SLOTTOW THAT ONE OF THESE THEY WILL BE LIKE CORINTHIAN WHO SHUT THEIR FROM EDUCATION BECAUSE OF SCAMMING STUDENTS. THE UOP WOULD NOT ASSIST YOU WHEN YOU GRADUATE. THEY USED ME IN THEIR MENTORING PROGRAM TO MENTOR STUDENTS FREE SO THE STUDENTS WILL UNDERSTAND THEIR CAREER PATH. I QUIT WHEN I REALIZED I AM BEING USED AND BECAUSE OF HEALTH REASON.

WE SHOULD NOT PAY OUR STUDENT LOANS. UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX SHOULD PAY IT AND THIS WILL STUDENTS LIKE ME STRUGGLING TO IMPROVE MY LIFE BUT IT IS NOT HAPPENING BECAUSE OF LIES AND DECEPTION BY UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX.

Istarted class and worked hard to get my degree, then I decide why not go on and further my skills and get an advanced degree. So i get off to a good start and am three or four classes from getting that degree, then the touble starts in.

I start a class and work all the way though the class and have a high B in the class, on the group final I set-up and design the whole powerpoint with no help and no one complaining about it. I get my grade back and I got a 0 on my final and i flunk the class. I follow up with the others in my group who all got A's and B's on the final. I fallow up with the teacher who told me I dont get any credit for my part of the final so I failed the class o well not her cash she said. Then I would have to take the class over.

Round two in the class and everything was going great untill the final again in which I went from having a High B to not passing the class by 1% the second time though and I had to pay pay out of pocket for the third time but this time it was a different teacher and i got a 97% in that class.

I had to do this with another class and was forced to pay out of pocket for two extra class which i was never rembursed for.

My life went downhill after I graduated with my DBA. I am so in debt with this university that I had to file bankruptcy and the bankruptcy didn’t include education. So $150,000 is on my credit report. I should have known that it was too good to be true. I am so over qualified I can’t get a job now. I would like to join the class action suit against University of Phoenix.

I am a Army VET and the post 9-11 covers my tuition. My Financial advisor held my BAH and FASFA money claiming my Certificate Of Eligibility for 100% of my tuition is not valid. The forced me to take a Leave of Absence and they kept pushing my start date for my next class farther and farther which they got paid tuition and I am in debt to the VA over 400.00 and the UOPX is saying I owe them 400.00. I spoke with the VA debt management and they say I don't owe the UOPX anything. But when I confronted the financial advisor she threatened to send the amount to collections. In less than a week I was told the amount would go to collections. I had a financial advisor who was extremely rude to me and I asked to be assigned another but that request was never granted. I had 4 Academic advisors in three months. I was never told about the changes and they didn't advise me in any way.

The text books are E-books and the material was ridiculous. Reading four chapters a week where all 4 chapters are long drawn out explanations of the same point. The Gamescape was horrible. My friend a fellow VET started school roughly around the same time I did. She goes to Ashworth. She is about to graduate as me with the UOPX I have a year and a half or longer. The UOPX makes you do 8 substantive posts a week. With the crap material that proves to be extremely hard to do. When I attended Kxxxxx before the Army it was 4 a week. My friend attending Axxxxxxxx it's 4 a week.

One WARNING I want to inform people of UOPX is make sure the UOPX is still Accredited and make SURE Employers actually consider the UOPX degree in the same regard as any other college degree. PLEASE don't waste your time of money for a degree that can lose it's credibility or on a school that Employers look down on. Please. please, please Make sure you do the research before you drown in student loans over a school that won't return the results you desire and deserve. I really hope this helps someone avoid making a huge mistake and putting thousands of dollars towards a degree that will hold you back from achieving your dreams. Peace and good luck!
