U.S. Department of the Treasury Reviews

  • Aug 20, 2019

The U.S. Department of Treasury applied all or part of a payment to a rip off educational debt. They state it is authorized by federal law. It is taken from the Social security Administration each month.

The Agengy says do not contact social security. I need them to stop taking my money, I was paying a Student Loan to HESSA , I have know year dates are was never given papers before this Federal Off set.

I received a phone call this evening from a woman stating she works for the US Treasury Dept. She said I was randomly selected to receive a $9,400 grant from the US Treasury Department without paying it back. She gave me a six digit code as my claim number and a phone number to call her SR. acct manager to verify the information I was given.

I called the SR. acct manager and gave her the six didgit code. She repeated back my information and stated she could assist me in receiving this grant. She offered me options to get paid by western union, Walmart, and money gram. She said all I had to do was purchased a $250 ITunes card fom any source that sell them. That's when I realize this was a scam and I informed her I'm her longer interested and hung up.

I've gotten this phone only today the first time from this guy claiming to be from the us treasury dept. And i thinkin to myself, thats strange cause from what i know they don't have that kind of department. Anyway, the funny thing is this. After hanging up on him to make him think i was going to wallgreens to get a greendot money pack card, if not disturbing fact. Most of the other people were all sent to get a money pack. Mine was to be $200 dollars to send and thats where the connection comes in you see.

I got this call the same day i ended my accounts with green dot debit cards! you see, i had been struggling with my credit a few years. Paying down this and that. Chex system had me down. But after a couple of years i finally got myself caught up and paid down most of my debts with collection agencies. Also, after a few years they have to remove that bad banking info. So now my record was clean and i was finally able to get a real bank account like a real decent person thank god. Today, i just opened my second account with citi bank and then decided to contact the greendot people and a few other debit cards and end the accounts. Oh yeh plus i was able to qualify for a real commercial credit card at last) well anyway, after a morning of ending debit accounts, the afternoon rolls around and thats when i get the call. His number was calling himself sam wilson.

I'm not accusing them but, i find it mighty coincidental that a scam company wants me to go to wallgreens, get a greendot pac the same day i end accounts with them and destroy the cards. Anybody else out there have the same suspicions or is it just me?

Any way, thats my story. Sure love to here from everybody else.

On 9/24/2015 I was contactedon my cell phone by a man with an oriental accent stating that I was chosen to receive a grant of $7800. The man stated that he was an agent of the US Treasury Department. He said I was receiving this grant because I had shown to be a good citizen. He also stated that I did not have to report it on income tax or repay it at all. This man gave me a phone # to call and a grant ID number to give to the person I was supposed to contact.

I called the phone number (235-617-0771) and asked for Nancy Jones. This was supposedly one of the agents I was supposed to contact and the other was a Paul Smith. When I spoke to Ms. Jones she told me that I should go to a Walmart Moneygram and give them the grant ID number I had been given and $220 to cover the taxes and handling. Ms. Jones also had an oriental accent. She wanted to know how soon I could go to Walmart. She was quite disturbed when I told her that I could not get there for a couple of hours. She repeated what I needed to claim the grant numerous times.

At this point I thought that this may easily be a scam because the government would certainly just take the taxes out of the payment and you would certainly have to report it to the IRS. I did the things that were going to take me the couple of hours and called Ms. Jones back, which is what I had been instructed to do. I told her I was in the Walmart parking lot but I did not have the cash for the $220. I asked if they couldn't just take the taxes and handling out of the grant money. I also told her I thought this was a scam. She claimed it was not and urged me to get the cash. I told her at this point that I would not. She got very upset and I hung up.

Thanks to your website I looked up the scam when I got home and found out that I was right. NEVER pay to get Money!!!
