U.S. AUTO SALES Okinawa. Reviews

  • Sep 29, 2019

I briefly worked as a used car salesman at U.S Auto Sales. I submitted my resignation after just one month. The owner, Shikov (Shiko) Yavor is a Bulgarian who illegally immigrated to Canada and then defrauded the Canadian government (that’s another story!

He told me that I was "too nice to people” and that part of my job was to lie and deceive current and potential customers. So, I quit as soon as I figured out that this guy has no integrity. And he also refused to pay me the correct amount of money I had earned after I quit.

There were many incidents of male volence but the final straw came when a customer named Fredrick who had bought a Toyota Sienta less than 3 month prior, brought the vehicle in for repair that should have been covered by warranty.

In less than 3 months and 5,000 km, the engine oil disappeared. It was not leaking oil. This is a commonly known problem with the Toyota Sienta especially among knowledgeable mechanics. By the way, this dealer does not have any mechanics.

U.S. Auto Sales relies on other repair shops to fix vehicles under their so-called warranty. Also, the car hesitated when the accelerator pedal was pushed. At first Shiko avoided the customer and told me that it was my job to "deal with it”. But the customer insisted to speak to him directly.

Shiko test drove the car and said he didn’t feel that anything was wrong. Then they went for a ride together and Shiko acknowledged that the car did, in fact, hesitate when pulling onto the main road (Route 58). After returning to the dealership, Shiko then denied ever acknowledging this fact.

Regarding the disappearing oil, Shiko said that his wife drove the car "too much” and that it wasn’t covered under warranty and there was nothing he could do about it. The now irate customer stormed off the car lot yelling that Shiko is a liar and a cheat.

I agreed and resigned the following day because I realized the kind of loser I was working for. When I went to pick up my pay the following month, the commission I earned for most of the cars I sold was not included.

I immediately went to the Labor Standards Office and filed a complaint. After much coaxing by the person in charge, Shiko finally agreed to discuss the matter. He lied through his teeth and pretended that he didn’t understand Japanese. Unbeknownst to him, I recorded the entire conversation.

Anyways, after the meeting was over, the man in charge said the only thing I could do was to take him to court. The court and lawyer fees would have exceeded the commission I earn so I decided not to proceed any further. Just watching him squirm was good enough for me.

I wouldn’t recommend buying a car at U.S. Auto Sales in Okinawa. There are much better choices and value such as Payless Motors or B.C Used Cars. At least thoses car dealers have integrity and wont lie or try to cheat you in any way whether it’s regarding the price of the vehicles and the terms of the warranty.

Anyways, just had to get this off my chest because it’s been bothering for a while. I hope this saves a lot of people a lot of grief. Caveat Emptor!
