Unfortunately, I was recommended Tustin Body Works located in Tustin, CA as a repair shop for my rear-end collision, by the other party’s insurance company: Mercury Insurance. The experience dealing with Tustin Body Works was slow, exhausting, and left me with a vehicle that is unsafe to operate and was not completely repaired. On October 24th, 2016, my vehicle, a BMW 5-Series was rear-ended by a much larger Chevy Tahoe. While the initial appearance of the damage was minor, the force of the impact was sufficient to damage sheet metal underneath the rear bumper and cause other mechanical damage. After the collision, my vehicle was drivable, but there was a strong vibration coming from the steering wheel. The driver of the other vehicle admitted fault to the accident, so I was contacted by Mercury Insurance on October 27th. They recommended Tustin Body Works because I was close to their shop.

I took my vehicle to the shop, explained all of the problems I noticed on the vehicle and they said they would inspect for the problems. I would call for status checks on my vehicle and my representative was always out of the office or “on another call”, and I was asked for my phone number so that they could call back. I needed to call numerous times in order to get a status update and their tone and demeanor left me feeling like I was bugging them, while I as a customer was actually being neglected. When my vehicle was finally ready and I asked if the mechanical damage was taken care of, my representative told me no they have not looked at it because it shouldn’t have anything to do with a rear end collision. I argued their point and they agreed to doing further inspections, after which they claimed that they can’t cover any of the repairs because there is no proof that the damage was not there before the accident.

They went on to say that it’s their word against mine and that basically it’s their decision unless I can prove otherwise. I asked what inspections they did on the car to make sure it is safe to operate and another representative told me they did sone sort of “laser guided measurements”. I asked for the results of the analysis, but they were unable to provide any documentation regarding the tests. I took my vehicle to a highly rated mechanic shop and they said my vehicle needed an alignment. I paid for the alignment and was told that something is “tweaked” on the vehicle and the alignment can’t be properly set. When contacting Tusting Body Works regarding these findings, I was transferred to a new representative who was rude, aggressive and just argued with my findings. He was unable to provide any factual data. I am now left with a car which should have been repaired, but was not because of the lying and unfair practices at Tustin Body Works.
