Truck Driver Institute, Inc. Reviews

  • Aug 4, 2015

Let me begin by saying I've drove a truck for 35 years have owned and operated my own trucks have worked both union and non union , in fact at one point I worked for a major CDL School has a CDL Instructor, in 2012 my Mother became sick and was battling Stomach Cancer, among other serious Health problems, being that most trucking companies have large invested fleets, and many loads a day to cover, I did not want to be caught out on the road, when that last few minutes came among us. And ol how I was dreading this... so with that I volunteered to turn my CDL in my physical was due and I had so much on my mind along with a heavy heart, unfortunately my mother passed and went home to the lord, it left me devastated, it no doubt was the worst pain and worst times of my life, in fact I ended up getting some much needed counseling, I ended up going on my Social Security, but as most people know it's truly hard to live on social security, so I decided to go back to the trade and Industry I have a been apart of all these years, I go to the Indiana BMV , take the written test, no problem, then a physical still no problem, then I scrape together 175.00 to take the skills test , make a appt , go to this TDI test site across from flying J in Whiteland Indiana , meet this young Testing guy, he seems very rude right off, like hey I'm the boss attitude, I tell him I'm there to take the skills test, he quickly collects the 175.00 and then goes off in some back room , then finally comes out and gives me my change and a receipt, we walk out to the truck , he begins by telling me what he wants to hear and how it should be said, so I begin with the pre-trip Inspection I done it exactly like I taught it at the school I had worked at previously, I then do the 4 point break check, he then tells me I failed , I ask why he tells me well you said brake lines I needed to hear brake hoses, then you didn't start your 4 point brake check with step 1 then step 2 then step 3 and lastly step 4 as you went through the steps , so every time you called a hose a line and each time equal 4 times of the steps of the brake check I counted it wrong , so I ask can I retake the test , he says yes but it will cost you yet another 175.00 everytime you take it.

This is a money pit , we never rolled a wheel, yet he failed me because I didn't Repete it perbadem from the BMV manual, I'm 57 years old I say a lot of things maybe different then I did once before, I'm good to remember that much, just ask my wife, this is so wrong on so many levels, if I was a foreigner they would walk me through the test and help me but I'm just a old trucker that has served in the military and paid taxes all. These years, and now I'm a no body, I may not be a book scholar but I can back a trailer in the middle of the night down a dark alley in Chicago and not tear any equipment up, I can drive close to 4 million miles with only 2 accidents in 35 years , just a plain out ripoff , to fail because you didn't say it like the way I wanted to hear it. This is Pathetic. ...GOD BLESS AMERICA ,
