Total Merchant Services Reviews

  • Nov 23, 2017

I signed up with this company about 1 1/2 years ago and immediately canceled I after I realized that most of what they told me were lies. I sent back the equipment they sent even though I told them I did not want it. It is now November 22, 2017 and two days ago I received 2 notices that I needed to send their equipment back. I called them, spoke with Matt, and, after checking said that they had made a mistake and I did send the equipment back. They had already taken $375.00 out of my account which he said he just issued a refund. I called billing dept. today and they, of course, had no record of the refund being issued. I was looking at my BofA bank statements while I was on hold and found a total of $1469.22 (including the $375.00) that they have been deducting from my account since last August 2, 2016. I never used their service since I canceled it immediately. Their manager was suppose to call yesterday and did not. I called twice today and he still did not answer my calls. I have been given the run-a-round and I am so angry. I will continue to pursue this issue until I have every penny back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! THEY ARE DISHONEST AND WILL AVOID YOU IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. IT IS A TOTAL SCAM Company and I cannot believe they are still in business...hopefully, not for long. They are messing with the wrong person.

This merchant services does not fairly give you a transparent view of their charges. They quote you a rate that they add on to the standard visa or master card rate. However they do not tell you what rate they are using for the various card normal rates. They can later add in any rate they wish for Visa and MasterCard ending up with a much higher rate than if you look at the normal rates of visa and master card.

If you are a new e-commerce business they are quick to jump all over you and call you a high risk and refuse to deposit your money that our clients have agreed to be charged . We use a virtual terminal where all of our charges to our clients are recorded and we explain on tape all our charges up front and receive the client's permission. We have packages to choose from 925 up to 1500 USD for website development and virtual office services.

Their risk department stopped transfer our contracts to our bank account asking for written invoices for four specific people because they were all the same price. We also had applied for a high risk account because we are so new we do not have the long term reputations that other companies have had to build up our reputation although my credit card services record with other merchant services has been great over 15 years . So far twenty charges have been made for contracts that were were signed and charges on their credit card recorded to prove the customer was in agreement. We have same charges because we sell packages at the same rates so why would the charges not be similar.

After complaints from the third party that signed us up with them, they approved all the transactions but said they would not pay us the funds for 3 months. How can we start building websites and advertising for the biggest selling season with no money for three months. This company is not new business friendly. They are vengeful after our third party vendor asked why they were doing this. Now instead of four accounts requested they are asking for all contracts to be sent and explained to them. We are insulted that we are assumed fraudulent until proven innocent. To date we have one requested return to which we have not had time to reply and they are justifying this for holding all of our contact charges.

We are losing clients left and right and they could not care the least. They are just a vengeful company. We will find other card services in the mean time and then will collect our twenty payments in three months. Because of their actions on withholding, clients will soon be asking for their money back because we can not fulfil our contracts on time. This company then uses these lost contracts and requested refunds to justified their actions that killed our business.

Do not use them . They are not upfront with their fee schedules. Of course they have deducted their fees for the past money. If they won't pay us my should they pay themselves? My advice is to stay far from this merchant service company. They will kill your new business within a month.

EXTREMELY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS parasitical company. First of all, the service isn't even second rate because a 2nd rate, or even a 3rd rate company, wouldn't hide from customers calling in for help. This company hid for almost two weeks while I tried to reach them by phone and email. If I lived in Woodland Hills I might've been inclined to stop by their HQ but since I don't I was limited to PHONE & EMAIL. How many times does one have to call & write to know it's enough? So, they won't call me back. I finally resolved to wait on the phone, on hold, come Hell or high water, until I got a semi-alive person. It took an eternity and I'm not kidding, I FIRMLY believe that this company has so many issues and problems with customers that even their CSR's dred handling them. I finally get someone with a pulse on the phone....HOLY CHR!ST! They are THE CLICHE of the Shifty CC financial service company (although I think most financial service co's are sick & demented losers). Anyway, this isn't a rant exclusively about service. This is what happened:

When I received the Ingenico ICT-220 I wanted to know everything about it: how it worked, what features it had. I wanted to be the "Goto" person for this cc machine. So I read up on it & worked with customer service to learn how it worked (etc). As a side bar, the service at TMS sucks big time because you never EVER get the same person on the phone which is a systemic problem in big junky companies like TMS & Global.

Anyway, you'll never believe it, they have this service called "Auto Batching" / "Auto Batch Out". These things are oh soooo convenient. They just want you to sit back and relax [SARCASM] and they'll do the rest: don't you worry bout a thang! So this "mahsheeen" auto batches out at night AND you get a printed report from this wonder of modern technology....You Receive a Printed Batch Report...You recieve a Printed BATCH REPORT....It auto batches the end of the day and you RECEIVE A PRINTED BATCH REPORT. Sounds dreamy! You figure once that batch is done within a short amount of time that $ is in your account; RIGHT? NOT SO!!! This processor was not directing the funds to my checking account, even with my BATCH REPORT "RECEIPT". THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND THEY WERE NOT DIRECTING THE FUNDS TO MY CHECKING ACCOUNT and YES even WITH a Printed Batch Report; also had receipts of every transaction.

ENTER the painfully Inept crew of undeservedly paid, antedeluvian lemurs that never respond even when contacted by conventional means. These offsprings of female dogs played footsy with me until conveniently telling me that my 30 days was up; I'll explain. They have no record of any transactions being made therefore they didn't happen. To make matters worse, they were under NO obligation to re- charge those customers the amounts ON MY PRINTED SIGNED RECEIPTS BECAUSE I hadnt contacted them (TMS) within the supposed alotted time. Okay, So the transactions never happened, right, even though merchandise had been (purchased) and taken by the customer? Oh, and just in case I wasn't clear, I had PRINTED & SIGNED receipts. Not to digress too much, I gotta tell ya, the amerikan dream of being in business for yourself anymore is a myth. You struggle and worry every day about rent, utilities, price increases, weather....EVERYTHING, and your reward for it is meager. Most small business owners are only a few short months away from insolvency; especially if you're in retail. Retail is so "challenging" that even great big giant multinational companies can't stay in business; even they're going down! The big co's have destroyed every single retail market by constantly running in the red, irrationally offering tons of selection, and running "ONE DAY SALES" Every other day. They ALL run rotten businesses and are going under and taking everyone with them. Back on point, So after being scared to death that they were going to s**t all over another client (me) I pled with them over the charges and that I'd basically do anything I could to make this thing work. I made copies of ALL the receipt which were a couple hundred. Well, they finally found a "solution" for me. Not only were they going to deprive me of my inventory and deny me sales THAT I HAD PRINTED & SIGNED RECEIPTS FOR, they had a solution even though it WASN't to give me my Fncking money immediately. They would "RELEASE" money provided there wasn't any charge backs. In other words, they avoided me until the 30 day period was over so they could play games with me. They had the money! They were just literally fncking with me. What could I do? It took nearly 6 months to get the money. They took my money and probably had it tied up in some silly financial scheme that they were probably earning interest on. I AM NOT Kidding you! I can't think of a nasty enough remark to describe what sort of creatures these slimers are! It is no wonder that the bankers at Harry Potters Bank (Gringotts) are goblins. They are absolutely evil and they represent the spirit of the anti-christ on earth. I hate them and I wiish nothing but scorn on there leadership and even the unfortunate grunts that they hired for menial work. If you think I'm over reacting. If you think I'm too sensitive to this. If you think I'm reading in to this like some conspiracy theory kook. Consider this:

9/9/2016: Wells Fargo fined $ 185 million for opening accounts without current account holders knowledge. Transferring their money to the accounts while they charge them for bounced checks on their actual account...all in the name of opening more accounts and making quotas. Banks make money and are lent money based on deposits. They were screwin the little guy once more and the b***h that did it all departs the company with $ 125 million, look it up, and WF fires 5300 employee grunts.

The moral of my story here is this: Don't every let them trample on your rights. Whatever you feel is your right: healthcare, guns, taxes...anything you hold sacred...don't compromise. I've never before in my life believed that the general character and make up of the people of wealth & power in this country was remorslessly evil. My advice is to get your service from someone who lives close enough to you that, if necessary, you could personally sue. Don't do internet. Don't do big companies on the other side of the country. Be safe out there and watch out for the vermin; they are everywhere.

Total merchant services preys on new companies. a slick sales rep will call and flat out lie about their fees and practices.

They do charge monthly fees, have a 3 year contract which will cost you 499 to get out of. Hidden fees nonsense insurance fees on and on. Hang up on them. They will victimize you. If you are already a victim contact the FTC and the calif state attorney generals office. They will not stop until they are shut down and charged criminally. cancel or change your credit card number to prevent further damage. They will threaten you with collections. They cannot collect on an account based on fraud.

It all started with a large amount taken out of my account and text messages to activate my equipment, I NEVER received equipment and they verfied I did not my bank returned their ripoff charges back to me. Well looked and charges ranging from 2.20 up to 77 all totaling 800.00 called and asked them why knowing that I never received equipment that I would be continually charged? To which they said some bulls* about the contract, which they can't produce contract and NO equipment should have been a clue not to charge. Avoid them they are horrible taking it to a lawyer.

I was charged 172.67 on my last billing statement due to a "billing change" that I was supposedly notified of in a November statement. The problem with this is that I don't receive statements from this company even though I have asked for them multiple times. Their excuse for this is that they give us access via their web portal. However when you try to login to their web portal you have to reset your password every time. However when you try to reset your password the request is never processed, which means you can't login to your account.

This is an issue that I had brought up multiples times to the business and would ultimately have to get my local sales rep involved in to get it fixed. Which meant he had to call someone, who called someone, who called someone else, that sent an email to someone who could send me a password reset.

The issue I called in about today was due to being charged more than my regular monthly fee. The person I talked to on the phone was too busy talking over me so that he couldn't hear anything I was saying to him. When I asked him multiple times to please stop talking over me he continued to do so.

After the 4th time of talking over me, I did lose my temper. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he continued to talk over me once again. So I was unable to get assistance from a supervisor in the company.

Frankly I think this company needs to be audited because they have never consistently billed me correctly, which I have had to fight about multiple times. Today was it for me and I closed my account when I wasn't allowed to speak to a supervisor.

All I wanted was a refund for the $99 charge that I was unaware of and never notified of.

I received an unsolicited text on my iPhone and although I normally delete these, I saw the Apple name in the body of the text and associated it with my Apple phone and Apple accounts. I called the number because I have been looking for a new Credit Card scanner for my business. I was sold on their rates and the monthly fee which covered the free machines and the wireless service needed to run the card swiper, plus a lifetime replacement on equipment and free rolls of adding maching paper.

They asked for my Social Security number, which I am always very leary about giving out, but again, I thought I was speaking with Apple. I actually hung up as I was placed on a long hold by Rebekah Gains, the telemarketer handling my account. She called me back within about 5 minutes. She apologized for the disconnection and referred me to a confirmation email they had sent me with a link that she walked me through to be sure that I agreed to while she was on the phone.

In the back of my mind, I was thinking this was sketchy, but under the pressure, I quickly clicked the agree button.

She said I would receive an email alerting me that I had been approved and I would receive my equipment in two days. I have been calling for 7 days, leaving messages, sending emails and no one has called me back. I finally decided to google the name and associates and lo and behold there were many others who were unhappy with their services. And several have been charged monthly charges which were not agreed upon during conversatons with the telemarketers. Very frustrating and so thankful that I did not connect one of my bank accounts with them. However, I am very concerned with them having my Social Security Number.

Their website states that they are connected to Wells Fargo bank. © 2014 Total Merchant Services, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Total Merchant Services is a registered ISO of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Walnut Creek, CA

Total merchant Services Continued to charge my parents bank account for months after being asked to cancel. My parents are in their 80's and had a small religous gift store that probably did not make a profit. A person came into the store and signed my dad up for a "great deal" with their credit card processing machine. He told them they would get the lowest price and could cancel anytime. There were a lot of hidden fees and extra charges. My dad told them he wanted it cancelled. About this time he became ill and was in the hospital for an extended period and eventually passed away.

It turns out Total merchant Services was still debiting their account for months even though they had no equipment and had asked to cancel. My mother did not realize what the charges were for until I helped her figure it out. The company charged them into the thousands for doing nothing. I called the company and they said they could not refund any of the charges from the past.

Do not deal with this company. Find a reputable company even though their reps say they will save you money. And do not let them take money out of your bank account! We had to close our bank account. We could not trust that they would not try to get back in and take more money!

Total Marketing Services headquartered in Basalt, Colorado made contact with me and said they would process my credit cards for my small internet business. The sales Agent Jason E. Hail indicated that on their own website it says NO CANCELATION fee. Jason Hail, sale agent located in Bennet, CO also said the fees would be under $15 or so per month until TMS started processing credit cards and again he mentioned NO CANCELATION Fee. I mentioned could I cancel within 120 days or so with NO CANCELATION and again Jason Hail said no problem. Card processing machine arrived around May 15, 2015. We decided not to accept credit cards because I am a 73 year old retired US Army and never opened the carton. On August 7, 2015 we phoned and canceled Account # 0008788014168136--approximate 80 days or so. I was instructed to ship the unused card processing machine back to Total Merchant Services at a Portland, OR address via Fed Express. The expensive machine was signed for and received by Total Merchant Services, Signature JLOUDY on August 13, 2015 at 9:13 AM. The following week Total Merchant Services sent me a note stating that they had not received this expensive machine. I have contacted them but have not heard from them. In the meantime Total Marketing Services has been withdrawing $ 38.00 per month from my checking account and has withdrawn $ 399 termination fee. right now we are out $ 513 for services that were not provided. Last of all I believe you should investigate the various complaints coming from the sales agent and the Basalt, Colorado location.

Check various websites on Google concerning Total Marketing Services and you will find probably several hundred negative reports similar to mine and since they operate on a national basis and have offices in many states the rulings are that Federal Court System rules over state court systems on a class action suit. This would be an ideal class action suit!
