Never buy online from this company (nor any company for that matter the has a No Return policy) In regurds to a TV stand I wanted to purshase.

This company did not display on their site the size of TV that would fit on the stand nor the weight it would support. I tried calling but the person I spoke to had no additional information on the product (red flag).

In the discription at the very bottom it had a no return policy (red flag)

DO NOT Buy from this company !!

WOW, this company needs to be sued along with their partners in crime Guardian. First, both these companies are unethical and, in my opinion, un-American. To make a very long story short, I bought a 5K bedroom set ( Regency Collection) 3 years ago from the Rockford RoomPlace and I also bought the best warranty they had at the time.

Well, My headboard leather is peeling and is becoming brittle. Anytime you touch around the areas that are peeling, the leather falls off. This is just not happening in one area, put is starting to pop up all over the headboard and footboard. The peeling starts off small then becomes increasingly bigger.

1st step was to call Guardian and submit a claim. My wife took care of this part and was rudely denied by Guardians claim department. Guardian refused to look at the problem and refused to help in any way.

2nd step was to call The RoomPlace and explain what happened. The Rockford RoomPlace basically said there was nothing that they could do and advised me to contact the corporate headquarters.

3rd step was to contact corporate headquarters in which the suggested that I send complete pictures of bed and head board and a description of what the problem was. After waiting several weeks for a email or call back, I called corporate headquarters again. This time, the CSR stated there is nothing that The RoomPlace could do for me and that it was my problem.

Here is the email I sent to Corporate:

Hi,

I am emailing you today because of a problem I am having with my bedroom set that I purchased on 06/03/2014. Over the last month, the leather on the headboard is starting to peel or flake off and is getting to the point where if you just touch the leather around the peeling area, the leather will just flake off. My first step when I noticed the defective leather was to contact the warranty company. I purchased the best warranty available; therefore, I thought it would cover the problem with the faulty headboard leather. Unfortunately, when my wife talked with the warranty people, they were very rude and abrupt. The warranty company basically told us that they are not covering our claim and that we need to contact the Room Place where we purchased the furniture. My second step then was to contact Jim Reinders, the sales Manager in the Rockford Illinois Store where I purchased the furniture . I explained to Jim the problem I was having with the peeling leather and how my wife was treated by the warranty company. Jim explained that this matter would need to be addressed by Corporate in which Jim gave me the phone number to The Room Place Corporate offices. When I called corporate, I talked to a Customer Service Representative and explain what had happend to date and the problem I am having with the leather on my head board. I was told by the CSR to email pictures and a brief summery to the email above and wait till I receive a response.

First, I would like to say I have been told by numerous people throughout this process that if I would have read the fine print, it would explained that peeling or cracking leather is not covered by the warranty or the manufactures warranty because of the time frame. My point is that the material is defective therefore the leather is peeling and cracking because of faulty material. Secondly, when someone spends over 5K on a bedroom set, they would expect such furniture to last longer than 3 years and be covered under the extended warranty when purchased. And my third point, If the Room Place believes that this issue ( peeling/cracking leather) should not be covered in any way, then The Room Place is knowing selling sub-par furniture ,that they know will fail, at extremely high prices. Therefore, my story needs to be told on twitter, Facebook, and on all social media platforms to inform the public about my experience with The Room Place and the type of furniture that they sell. Thank you and if you need any further information or need to contact me please call or email.

Thank You,

Scott West

As a disabled veteran, I will be using my influence and status to make sure other veterans don’t buy from such dishonest companies like The RoomPlace. I will also be contacting anyone who will listen to me, I am sick of getting ripped off by such sleezy companies. Feel free to contact me to support our rights as consumers. The only way to hurt companies like this is to hit them where it hurts, the pocket book.

I bought my furniture a little over a year ago for about $3000. Luckily I purchased the protection plan (which they advised would cover everything that may happen to the couch). The first time my couch cushion ripped at the seams, I called the RoomPlace and sent pictures - per their instructions. It took about 3-4 weeks before I received new cushions.

After 2 months, the cushions ripped again. This process was repeated 4 times (cushions ripped, waited a month to receive new ones, waited 2 monthes before they ripped again, repeat.) It was horribly inconvenient, but since I had the protection plan I dealt with it. The 4th time I called they advised that if the couch keeps ripping, they will just replace the whole couch (unclear if they meant the same couch, or a different couch.) However, when the cushions ripped again and I called, the customer service advised that my couch had been replaced by the manufacturer under the manufacturers warranty, not the store warranty, and that their store warranty covers everything except rips at the seams.... Eventually they also advised that they do not even handle the warranty claims, but that a 3rd party vendor handles them (despite my sales rep saying we just call TheRoomPlace customer service and they send out new ones.)

Ive battled with customer service agents, managers, and the store manager on this issue. At one time they offered to replace my cushions 1 last time. But this is clearly an issue that will persist since it has happened now a total of 5 times, and the warranty that I thought would cover my furniture, will not cover the furniture if there is rips in the seams..

Once again I've been duped by this company. Why do I keep going back to this store? Over the last 10 years I have bouthgt furniture from The Room Place for every room in my house and it has NEVER (NOT EVER) gone without difficulites, misinformation or been just plain lied too. I am so done this time.

I bought the warranty for my furniture 5 years ago and was supposed to get a refund if not used after 5 years. OK I thought that was a good deal.....NOT SO MUCH!!! They don't tell you that if you get the refund you have to spend $499.00 or more to be able to use that refund. (It's apparently in the warranty information packet they give you at the the time of the warranty purchase) Thats how they get you because they don't explain all the details of it when you buy it. Talk about dishonest and sneaky. Well that was the first thing that set me off. So we decided to buy a new couch. I called the store and reminded them that my warranty was due for the refund (because I hadn't received it yet) and they said they would take care of it and I would receive it in a credit card form that I had to use at the store, OK I thought that'll work (still not knowing I had to spend $499 to be able to use my $99.99 credit) So we bought a couch and the couch was over the $499. I told my salesman about the warranty issue and he said not to worry he would take care of it and I would recieve it in no time. I had the couch delivereed and a day later received my refund in the mail. Awesome that was great timing, right? So I thought.

Furniture delivered on Firday, got the refund in Saturdays mail and went on Monday to have it applied to my purchase. THIS IS THE BEST PART>>>> when I got there to have them apply my refund to my purchase they said they couldn't because the furniture had already been delivered. ARE YOU FREEKIN KIDDING ME.......ARE YOU FREEKIN KIDDING ME? They knew I was waiting on my refund it had been discussed with my salesman. I was told not to worry he would take care of it. I asked to speak to the store manager and of course no one was in and noone was available. So I track down the sales manager and she took my information down and said the store manager would be in in 2 days and she would contact me. YEAH RIGHT....no one contacted me so I had to follow up and when I asked for the store manager she wasn't in and wouldn't be in for another 2 days. SURPRISE!!! OMG that was enough for me. Now i was mislead (lied to) by the sales manager. I am so done with this company. What is the point of a refund if you have to spend $499 to be able to use it? All I asked was to have this refund applied to my pruchase and because my furnture had already been delivered it was "store policy" the credit is only applied at time of purchase. REALLY, I had already discussed this with my salesman and it was suppose to be taken care of. Otherwise I would have waiting to buy the couch until I got the refund. Now I have a worthless credit and been lied to and duped along the whole process.

BY THE WAY....they don't have a return policy if you don't like what you bought when it gets to your home to bad so sad you have to come back to the store and pick something else out to be able to use the purchase money. BUYER BEWARE. The warranty is not worth it and I will NEVER shop at this place again. Too bad for them I'm in the middle of a transformation in my home and will be in need of several things after the first of the year.

Don't listen to the sales person what they tell you to sale the warranty. I bought dinning table with leather chairs they sold me warranty saying it will cover every thing damaged to the Table or chairs. when i called the company for repair they don't cover anything unless its stains or "accidentally" have damaged like ripped with knife or fork. well we didn't have accident like that. stains we can remove by our self. we need warranty for somthing ripped or broken. but they dont cover in warranty. so be careful when you buy warranty have them in writing from the person don't depend on verbal.

Don't listen to what they tell you inside the store. These are dishonest people. I Paid more than 300 dollars for a useless warranty. When a problem happened, they refused to fix a cut in the sofa because of a line written on the back of the warranty agreement. But before you buy any item from this place, they are going to tell you that everything is covered in the warranty, and they will ask you to be unconcerned for anything that might happen to the sofa. You need to be a lawyer to buy something from these people to go through the agreement line by line. Their goal is just to rip off your money before you walk out of the store.
