The RealReal, Inc. Reviews

Real real is a scam company. They promised me that my merchandise was going to be returned to me as I did not like the pricing they set for it. After clearly confirming that it will be sent it back to me, and verifying my address several times they went on to selling it without my consent.

Now, they are offering me a fraction of what the price was with their site-credit as a curtesy for their mistake. For a month they made me wait and talk to several people who gave information and assurance that they are indeed returning my item. T

oday I spoke to two people. First assistant told me it was never being sent back to me and it has been sold. Furthermore, he told me they had increased the price and my percentage was now way more so I should be happy. He said the previous assistant gave me wrong information and he is sorry but he can’t do anything about it.

When I requested to speak to a supervisor, it was even more pathetic. She told me the information about the price increase was not accurate information. She said it was once again a miscommunication, and I will be sent a check in the amount I initially declined to begin with. They keep offering me site credit for their lies.

According to them all the lies and deceptions were miscommunication from their end. They apologize but refuse to pay the fair price for it. This company is full of scam and lies. And this is their standard procedure of business.

My wife and I have trusted The Real Real to accept our luxury brand Celine purse and Jovani dress and contact us for an acceptale consignment price after a full inspection. Both items were provided in near perfect condition - the dress was unworn with tags, and the purse was new without any wear. The Real Real has made two critical errors which appear to be outright fraud:

(1) They damaged the dress while in their possession during inspection and it is obvious by the photos that we took prior to shipping it... and they returned it to us damaged while denying acceptance of the dress for sale. We then returned it to them to inspect the damage, now they will not communicate, nor compensate for the damage or purchase the dress as per their written terms. They are not taking responsibility for their actions, thus we are preparing a formal written Demand Letter, and if necessary, a Small Claims Lawsuit.

(2) They accepted our designer purse but did not communicate with us any offer or price at which to sell, and then sold it fairly quickly but returned us a check for much less than we were willing to accept had they communicated an offer for the amount tendered. They simply sold for a price they needed, then returned to us the remainder.

Be very, very wary of dealing with this company and make certain you have a local store put in writing your own terms if you trust them to take in your merchandise, otherwise, per your account terms and conditions with them (online, which you agree to), you are basically giving away all of your rights to be communicated with and they can sell your merchandise for whatever they want, and pay you 55% of whatever they accept from a consumer.

There is no proof, accountability or receipt showing you what they charged - you are forced to accept what they claim they sold it for. THIS IS NOT FAIR PRACTICE and it amounts to straightforward abuse of people who wish to enter into a fair consignment agreement. It may qualify as illegal as Conversion and Unjust Enrichment under State and Local Fraud Statutes.

TheRealReal is onlike second hand shop. I consigned my items that included luxuary items as well but was shocked to find out that all my items were listed and sold under someone else' account. I still do not have all my items being transfered back to me.

This is not the first incident of TRR loosing or misrepresenting items, but not of this magnitude at once. All my items were quietly transfered to someone else.

Back in October 2020, I took a pair of Ferragamo shoes to UPS to be shipped to The RealReal, following the instructions they had sent to me by email. After it was shipped, I sent them an email asking if they had received the shoes as I never received a confirmation from the company, however I did not receive a reply. I assumed the shoes were lost by UPS, but several months later, checking their website I realized the exact same shoes I had sent to them were sold (I was sure those were my shoes as, besides the same color and size, they have a very distinctive label mark on the soles).

I have been contacting them on this and requesting my credits, however they keep saying they will look into it, but end up not following up. I wonder how many other people sent their products and never received their credits/money. I sent them a UPS receipt proving that I sent the shoes, but never received acknowledgement from the company.

Do not go there. They tell u if u want cash option u will get a check in 2 weeks. 6 weeks today and still no check. Customer service is the worse via their customer service line. I gave them 3 purses after they authenticated and took my purses but then 3 weeks later received an email that only one is authenticated and the other two not so they will ship it back.

I still have not received my other purses. I dropped them off April 15 and today is May 26 and no check and no purses. God knows if they changed my purses and May get a fake one instead.

Do not go. They r corporation now and have lost their swag. Go to On Que in corona Del Mar. Absolutely the best. And if u want them to buy ur purse in cash and no consignment they write a check right there. No one takes ur purses away from u.

Their selling practices are not above board - they say they will take 50% but they take more because they have sales, resulting in the person who consigns with them receiving far less.

I purchased my bag from The Real Real only to discover that the stitching was held together by some nasty smelling sticky glue!! I've also come to find out that LV doesn't line their bags in dark cherry suede!! I'm so upset right now...I paid $375 for a small bag only to find out that I've been scammed!! Whatever you do, don't buy from The Real Real!! I know that I've lost my money since a lot of people on this site, say there is a no return policy for purses. This is so upsetting. I'm going to tell my family and friends about this and pray that they pass it on. I'm also going to post my story on Rip Off Report! This can't continue...Everyone is always out to make a quick buck! What is going on in this world people??

I sent some fine jewelery to The Realreal to consign for me the beginning of November 2016. To make a long story short, they lost my items and agreed to pay me the going rate for the items. They keep telling me they are going to send me a check the 15th of the month. This has been going on since December 2015. I have several emails from them telling me they are going to send me a check, but I am still waiting!! I have consigned with them in the past and never had any problems. I will never do business with them again. They have lied to me by telling me the check is going to be issued, and I'm still waiting. I have saved all of the emails from them. I was hoping to use this money for a vacation I went on in January!

I ordered a Louis Vuitton luggage at therealreal.com and paid $2500+ CAD for it. When I received the luggage, i know it's fake. I also gathered opinion of brand experts I know and they all say this is counterfeit. I called their customer service and was told that this is authentic and for reauthentication I have to send the luggage back! I don't trust that they will even admit to it so I am holding on to the item until further investigation.

I spent several thousands of dollars with this company. The last sale I did with them was for 5 items. After almost 2 weeks they STILL hadn't shipped my order. I phoned their customer support because they never answered my email. The rep told me she was sorry, she'd get the warehouse to ship my order, and would refund my shipping charge as credit to my account which was good for 30 days. After a week, they STILL hadn't shipped my order, but before I could call & complain again, they sent me an email that one of my items, a sweater, was not available for shipment (no reason was given) and they refunded the $41 to my account which was only good as credit FOR THREE DAYS, at which time they took my money. They have gave me an additional credit for my trouble, which was good for 30 days! Are you kidding me? And then they re-post that very same sweater they said was not available back on their website a day later for $95! This is how they treat their first look members, which I paid an additional $10 a month to these people for. I cancelled my membership, deleted their app from my phone, unsubscribed from their emails, sent them a scathing email telling them they've lost me as a customer over a measly $41 compared to the thousands I've spent with them, and I hope they choke on it.

My bf wanted to surprise me with a loui Vuitton bag. the one we got was a fake one. it is a speedy 30 blue bag, on the site it shows a picture with the date code that starts with letter "V" and the texture. the one we got DOESN'T have date code and texture was waaaayy too different. we ask about it and the customer service named kristel and aida said we can go to a LV store to have it authenticated. we called LV customer service and they said, only authenticated LV that people can buy is from LV website or store or an authenticated receipt. Aida and Kristel said that LV cant tell if its real just coz of receipt. they keep pushing that the bag was authenticated.

we called again and talked to Norma. she said to send her pictures with the bag we received which we did and we quoted that were going to an LV store and once we find out that it was fake we can sue them of fraud. next day they replied saying we can return it since we didn't get the item the one we expect MEANING they got scared and guilty of SELLING FAKE items.

So please people don't spend time of buying to this website because all they sell was FAKE. The FakeFake Store. Thank you.
