COMPLETE RIPOFF

If zero stars were an option, that is what this review would be. Nothing but a complete disappointment. Paid $4,600 upfront for master audio engineering course back in December of 2018. Numerous scheduled sessions cancelled last minute with no notice. Locations moved all over the city only to be cancelled after juggling my work schedule to accommodate these sessions. Haven’t had a sit in session with producer or artist in months after initially scheduling two to three a week. As it stands now I,feel only complete not even half of the required hours. Zero consistency. Nothing but excuses. Producers not having the decency or courtesy to call or communicate to reschedule. Constant power outages or so they say, resulting In cancelled sessions. Every excuse under the sun to not fulfIll their commitment to teach and instruct students and complete lack of communication and lack of respect for students’ time. Impossible to reach anyone by phone or via emailthrough website as the phone numbers are inactive. Do yourself a favour and stay clear. This is not a school. This is a joke.

As with other review...Scam!

Stay away! how a 14 yr old was treated by noize faktory...Took almost $700, suppose to have 3 4-hour sessions, sent emails beforehand to confirm, sent scheduling requests...Then no-showed 1st session, moved 2nd session, showed up finally for 2nd session, no-showed 3rd session Jacob at front desk at 260 emerson furious with them, nf didn't even have studio booked!, no intention of showing up!) they knowingly stood up a 14 yr old, took his money, crushing for him, no apologies, no refund...And he came from ottawa specifically for the nf program. Anything danny, jordan, say is bs, we have lived it. Stay as far away as you can!!!

I have had a similar experience with the noize faktory. So fake and a complete disappointment! i signed up for the master audio recording arts program back in march 2019. I have had five scheduled sessions cancelled last minute with no notice. My curriculum was to be sent to me after my introductory meeting with dan armstrong or jerry, whatever his alias is) within a week, but i received it two and a half months later.

The first was for the juno awards. Why accept a client booking if you knew that the juno awards were that weekend and that your instructors wouldn't be available?

The second was booked at their etobicoke studio that sustained damage from a rain storm and power outage. Dan told me that it would be resolved within a day or two, but that never happened. He never followed up.

The third was when i booked a session at their markham location this has since disappeared from their website). I was on my way there when dan texted me to say that they don't use that location anymore, so i ended up getting rerouted to the liberty village location. Thankfully i was able to get downtown quickly enough and i was only 5 minutes late. Why is the communication so horrible and why did the system allow me to book markham if you don't use that location anymore?

The fourth occurrence was when i showed up for a music session but dan had tried to cancel my session. He texted me 7 minutes before the session was to start i was driving at the time) telling me that my instructor had sustained a car accident the night prior and he was trying to find a replacement. He insisted that i stay to 4pm so that someone could come, but i was so fed up that i ended up leaving. I was in no frame of mind to learn or try and work with dan or jerry or whatever his name is).

Dan and i had a very lengthy call to discuss my priority as a customer, because my instructors were so bad up to that point. Many of them just played on their phones and didn't really know how to use ableton - many were fl studio specialists and tried to pass themselves off as experts in ableton. Dan or jerry) assured me that he would do everything possible to smooth out this situation and that the reason was because of staff turnover. He said he was being overworked and things had fallen through the cracks. We agreed to reset the curriculum over again from the beginning and restart. I did tell dan that there was no more chances for error or any unannounced cancellations.

Since i still didn't have a curriculum throughout all these disasters, i didn't know what sessions to book or the expected learning outcomes. I was just floating without any direction or guidance.

I finally met with dan one day to review my progress. I told him that i was going down the path of live av performances and setting up venues, and he was pleased to hear this. He asked me to come and work with his lead av/live instructor the following sunday. I texted him repeatedly throughout the week and finally got an answer on thursday. He confirmed with me on saturday that the instructor would be available to complete my sunday session that he insisted on), however he kept telling me that they were attending some camp graduation for kids that weekend and that he might have to cancel. I said no because he insisted on it and i didn't want to wait anymore. My schedule is fairly limited so that sunday was my window of availability. After some back and forth, he confirmed on saturday that the instructor would be there. I had also asked him repeatedly what equipment i should bring as i have a lot of my own av equipment) and he never answered that question.

I showed up at the studio on the sunday with all of my gear and the studio told me that they didn't have any noize faktory bookings at all that day. A few minutes after my scheduled start time, i receive an email from dan or jerry) saying that the kids camp graduation was taking longer than expected and he cancelled my session because the instructor was still there. He insisted that i come back at 10pm that night my appointment was at 2pm) because the instructor would be available then. He reschedules my session to later on, but according to the studio, it was completely booked up that day anyway and no space had been allocated to the noize faktory. How could dan have thought this could have actually worked out? He clearly had no intentions of accommodating me that day, if at all. This was the last disaster i was going to tolerate with noize faktory. I have demanded a full refund and plan to bring legal action against them to recover my funds as dan has gone dark. He told me that the director will reach out to me, but that hasn't happened and likely won't.

Communication is horrible. I have had to juggle my work and family schedule to make the schedule work. Completely disrespectful and unprofessional!!

I try to reach dan by phone and only responds when it's convenient for him. I can't reach anyone else as there is only an email and voice mail set up. Stay clear!!! this place is a total scam!! don't waste your time here!

I decided to report here as I was threatened with legal action if I did not take my google review down. I myself am considering pursuing action against this company and encourage other victims to do so.

what is wrong with Nozie Faktory from my experience?

I took the Master Production program with an intention to learn production, create my own instrumentals and record an EP. The bonus to this, was to have photos and album art in addition to a completed EP. I could see once they had all my money locked in that "Jerry" (aka Dan) who seemed to be actually passionate about my work was in no way going to support me as a true mentor.

Issues included:

studio equipment was often missing or not in working condition for my sessions

the Ableton software was an illegal hack and did not last operate on my computer for long until asking for "authorization" and therefore I could not practice production at home which was the whole point

on the website they advertise pictures that can be misleading *they rent from Coalition Music, recordings are in the lower half of the building in Scarborough area (I actually drove to the yonge street location by mistake upon my meeting)

I had 5 different instructors from the start to end of my duration ( a few spoke of issues getting paid, I also felt some were not quite qualified or even trained for their position

I have received my "mastered" recordings and I know that at least 2 of the tracks will need re-recorded vocals due to frequency issues (why Jerry did not voice this fact from the start as he has studied mixing is beyond me)

Jerry was drunk and incoherent at a listening party which took place at a hookah bar near his house -_- how is this professional when I was not introduced to anyone or my music displayed properly at this event

Jerry has ignored texts and emails, I also waited 4 months for my tracks to be so called mixed and mastered by 2 producers who I never got to meet or communicate with during the process

All in all

I count myself lucky that my first instructor and also a fellow producer/student offered tracks to me. It was those tracks I was able to write and record to during my time at Noize. I will be taking these tracks to someone esle and have them completed properly.

I realize things happen like tech issues, lateness we are all human but you are advertising as a professional company, an educational institute and a place for artist development and for the money I paid (which is in the thousands) I do not feel I received even an adequate level of service or education.

By the way I am a music teacher working at a performing arts school and know how a succesful business needs to be run. I feel this company prays on hopefull aspiring musicians like myself especially in the younger age group
