This complaint is about the mis-management and unprofessionalism of Nat Coles, the President/Director
and Connie Coles (Webmaster and wife Nate Coles)
of the Duluth Youth Lacrosse Association in Duluth GA.
Incident:
On 03/22/2016 at around 6:45pm or 7:00pm I was sitting in my car watching my son who was standing near a parent and/or an observer with a dog (a boxer breed) while my son was on break from his Lacrosse practice. All of the sudden the dog growled and lunged up at my son and started barking. I then yelled out to my son to get away from the dog! I was very scared that my son was going to get bite. I was very upset with this event that occurred quite naturally. So I walked up to the man with this dog and I asked him if his dog lunged at my son and he said yes and he explained that his dog was scared of my son Lacrosse Helmet and mask. I then told him that every child in the park has a helmet and a mask and that his dog is a Liability and I also told him that it was very dangerous to have that dog whom was obviously aggressive around a park full of children!
I could and should have called the police and requested animal control to come out but instead I went to Connie Coles who is the webmaster of this organization and I advised her that the dog lunged at my son. She told me to talk to her husband (with a nasty attitude and proclaimed to me to let him handle the situation) Nat Coles who is the President and Director of the Duluth Lacrosse Association.
When Nat walked over to me I explained to him what had occurred and was still very upset. As a parent that is concerned I feel that there should have more understanding and compassion for what had occurred. Nat then listened to what I had to say and seemed to be very irritated with my complaining but he did go over to the man and he asked him to move maybe 10 feet away from the walkway where the children had to exit. I felt like him just asking him to move over a few feet was not enough and I did tell him that, this apparently upset set him even more and he told me that he heard me the 1st time I said it and that I didn’t have to keep repeating myself and he walked away from me mid conversation. At this point I’m even more upset so I told him as he was walking away that he was acting like he had a “dam” attitude (which he was). I said that once to him. He turned around and pointed at me and said “If you cuss in this park one more time I will kick you out of here!! So I told him “I’m not going no where”. (Especially since my son is out on the field practicing) So he pulls out his phone and proceeded to call the police and walked away. The practice was over at 7:30pm and it was about 7:16pm. I sat there still upset throughout my sons practice still talking to my mother on the phone who over heard the whole conversation between him and me.
So as my son and I arrive back at my car after the practice the Duluth Police was just sitting in the parking lot. They asked me what was the problem and I told them what happened. Come to find out Nat Coles gave The Police a whole new concocted story claiming that I apparently was being unruly by cursing 10 times and he told them I that I got in his face pointing my finger in his face and was acting belligerent, which was an absolute lie, they could not provide witnesses to this event because it did not happen plain and simple.
First of all he and his wife are very unprofessional people, I was talking to my mother on the phone during the whole conversation when it happened because I had on my Bluetooth little did he know and my mother heard the whole conversation He lied to the police so that he could get them out to the scene to prove a point to me that he had power. I never received any type of apology or empathy for my son almost getting mauled by a dog. He should have made the man muzzle the dog before he had it around children. Nat Coles and his wife really should be aware that allowing people to bring there unmuzzled, aggressive dogs/animals to Lacrosse Practice is dangerous and a very big liability to your organization and I feel like this is something that I want to bring to your attention.
Even though this is Lacrosse I feel it still is customer service related because I paid $195 plus $25 Association Fee for my son to play and I just wanted my son to be safe. Safety always come first in my book. Nat Coles is a Power Hungry, Egotistical, Pompous jerk who needs to be fired. I will not be bringing my son back to play Lacrosse and it is really sad because I was looking out for the best interest of the children and this is the thanks that I received by this organization and I am not happy about it what so ever.
Calling the police and lying on a parent who voiced a concern (health risk concern) and not in a way he would have liked to is not the answer to resolving the problem.
