The Chesapeake Life Insurance Company Reviews

I began a rider policy with Surebridge for vision and dental, but when I looked for providers that accepted their insurance, I found out no one accepts them. After calling the agent that set me up with this company and requesting information, I received no response from the company. I also waited for insurance cards and was told they do not issue any kind of card and I received no policy either by paper or email.

When I got insurance through another provider I attempted to cancel my policy by calling the company directly. I was assured the policy was canceled, but received no notification either by paper or by email. After cancelling, I found out they had charged my bank account for another month's service. I had not planned for this withdrawal and did not have the funds in my account at the time I was charged. This not only put my account in the hole, but it also caused me to get charged insufficient funds fees for other bills that had been made and the money was no longer there.

I contacted the agent about the matter with no response from her whatsoever. I tried the company, but there was no answer. I have continued to attempt to talk to someone in the company, but it places callers on hold for excessively long periods of time.

I finally had to close my account to stop this company from continuing to withdraw funds.

I had an accident policy and got food poisoning which I was told by my Sales Leader from HealthMarkets would be covered. In fact we are trained to sell the Accident Companion for incidents such as food poisoning, etc. In fact my client was paid for his food poisoning and when he stepped on a sea urchin. But I was denied for my food poisoning and my client was denied her claim for being stung by hornets. I did not deliberately eat bad food and have to be admitted into the hospital. I was told by a Senior Claim Advisor that both would be covered as long as I was not allergic. I appealed the decision and filed a complaint with the Dept of Insurance. I was denied my appeal. Just be careful when buying these policies. AFLAC and Family Heritage cover everything for accidents; "anything from the outside in" is considered an accident.

I signed up for suplimental insurance through Chesapeake/Surebridge Sept. 1, 2016. Included in my policy was CancerWise which pays out $20,000 lump sum for a first time cancer diagnosis if diagnosed 30days after the start of coverage. I was diagnosed with cancer in November of 2016. I originally filed my claim in December of 2016. I still haven't received a d**n penny from them. I call weekly with my insurance agent that sold me this policy and am told the same thing each time, "It is in final review and I will receive a letter stating how they determined my payout and the actual check within 7-10 business days". I've had two supervisors both promise to take ownership of my case and assured me that they would get to the bottom of it and give me a call. Still No calls, no money and it's July 5, 2017.

He did get me blue anthem insurance but I was charged $70 to "sign up" for the insurance and was told that it would be $48 dollars a month after that. but come to find out that my plan under blue anthem only costs me $1 a month because of my low income. I was charged the $48 dollars and the $70 to sign up. I get all the e-mails from chesapeake so I decide to log into the account that the "insurance guy" made for me online. It states that I am a male that has cancer, and other critical illnesses that add up to the $48 I am being charged. I spoke with blue cross and they confirmed that I am ONLY paying $1 a month to them and that they have no idea why i'd be charged $48. I am pissed. Also the number the "insurance guy" left me is now disconnected.

I was shopping for health insurance online. I was looking for blue anthem cross policies so I signed up to recieve a phone call from an insurance agent I assumed was from blue cross. Well he explained to me he worked for a comany called Chesapeake and that the company was there to help people find an insurance policy to fit their needs. He found me a blue cross anthem policy and qouted me $48 a month with a $70 one time payment to sign up. I was fine with that. About a month later I go onto my online account under blue cross and see that my monthly payment is only $1 because of my low income. SO I goto check my e-mails, I had gotten quite a few from chesapeake and assumed it was just "spam", someone had been trying to make an online account with my e-mail so I decided to do that myself and it says on their under "my policy" through chesapeake that I am a Male (which I am definitely not) and that I have cancer and several other critical illnesses and the amount it cost me for that policy was $48. I NEVER agreed to have chesapeake life insurance! I had no idea it was even a life insurance company. Read online about the hundreds of people who have had this exact same thing happen to them. And to top it off my "insurance agent" gave me his number if I ever needed to change my policy or what not and his number is now disconnected and chespeake keeps hanging up on me.
