Smitty (83 yr old man) is a friend. We live in a low income housing complex. When on his laptop he said a 'flash' came on his screen telling him he needed to have his laptop repaired immediately. They informed Smitty that only they can repair his laptop. Smitty paid them $400 for Techpro Busters to 'repair' his laptop. As soon as they received payment they crashed his laptop frying his hard drive. Techpro informed Smitty that he would have to relinquish his broken laptop to them in order for them to 'repair' the laptop. I had an old hard drive and replaced it. I have the fried hard drive and am seeking someone to see if they can access the drive. Smitty has 10 years of his time on that hard drive. All his photographs, his ancestral family tree, his letters, etc., on this hard drive. This is a 'company' that invades senior citizens computers, taking their savings and leaving them with nothing...zip...zilch...
This company is apparently a few people who purport to be company that is contractor and partner of Microsoft whose number showed on our laptop's screen after our computer froze with indication of malware infection. They sound sketchy, but we fell for it, and believed their con: that our computer was under attack, and that they were legitimate, worked on behalf of Microsoft, and could rerpair it for $249.99, which we paid. Forensic assessment of laptop indicated that we were victims of company who damaged, held us hostage, and then "repaired" computer. We received a call from company indicating that their company was going out of business and that they need to access computer again. Don't let these cowards scam you too.
