TD Bank Reviews

  • Mar 19, 2023

The attached letter was mailed to the consumer. No follow up actions are anticipated. The letter states as follows: Thank you for forwarding your concerns regarding your recent experience with TD Bank (the "Bank"). I'm writing today to let you know we are in receipt of the complaint you filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ("CFPB"). We certainly regret any missed opportunity to deliver outstanding Customer Service we expect from our team. In your complaint, you allege your Account was compromised, you completed a Fraud Case as well as filed a police report. However, the Account is reflecting a negative balance of $3,856.60 and is being handled by the Bank's Collection Department. A new Account was opened and $216.88 was transferred from the Account and you would like to dispute this transaction. In researching your concerns, in October 2022 there were multiple mobile deposits made: Deposit Date Amount October 7, 2022 $4,500.00 October 11, 2022 $4,000.00 October 11, 2022 $4,500.00 October 13, 2022 $4,500.00 The mobile deposits were returned due to altered/fictitious checks. On October 20, 2022, you called to report fraud on the Account. You confirmed that you were applying for a job and your online banking information was provided and deposits were made into your Account. You updated your online banking information with our agent when you called to report fraud. Your Account was frozen for 30 days. You were advised the Account would need to be closed and a new one opened. A new Account ending in 5681 was opened on October 28, 2022. On November 20, 2022, the case was closed. The Fraud claim was found to be unsubstantiated since you confirmed you provided your personal banking information. Due to the returned deposits, the Account went into the negative on October 18, 2022. To mitigate the outstanding balance an offset was performed on December 14, 2022, in the amount of $216.88, once an offset has been completed, it cannot be reversed. In the Personal Deposit Account Agreement, Section "Right of Set-Off" the Bank outlines our ability to set-off any accounts you hold with the Bank. The agreement specifically states "Unless we are prohibited by applicable law, the Bank can take funds in any of your Account(s) to pay any debt you owe us that is in default. This applies to all funds of yours in our possession now or in the future. The current balance owed on the Account is $3,639.72. It is my hope that this letter helps to address your stated concerns. TD Bank is dedicated to delivering exceptional Customer Service. If you have any additional concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 1-888-751-9000.

I was considering TD Bank one of the biggest banks in US, till I realized that TD Bank has limited licenses for many activities. Never use TD Bank for an international transaction or to transfer money to another country. The exchange rates of this bank are astronomical and they even don't disclose to you that they are using third party for it.

They charged me more than 5% for the exchange transaction plus $50 wire fees. You can transfer for less than 1% with any other banks and the wire transfer fees could be low as $15. I would never recommend TD Bank to anybody.

I have had an account at TD Bank for some time. The debit cards from other banks are flexible and allow me to set up a PIN number for ATM. TD Bank, on the other hand, I find to be quite cumbersome.

The automated system at TD Bank does not work; I can't set up a PIN number for my debit card at TD Bank. TD Bank says you need to come into their office to set up a PIN number for their debit card. Is TD Bank loving their customers or beating their customers? Why make the customers jump through hoops?

I think TD Bank needs to have their automated system fixed so that their customers can rightly set up their PIN numbers for their TD Bank debit cards. I feel that not doing so is an obstruction of justice. Any suggestions?

A Cautionary Tale Of Using TD Bank As A Small Business Owner

I own a small business that relies on emailing approximately 90,000 subscribers two to three times a week. Failure to email in any given day can impact my monthly revenue by nearly 10% for every day missed so I use the autopay aspect of my debit/credit card with TD Bank so no payment could be missed by accident.

Unfortunately TD Bank has a policy of suspending payments through my card when they determine there to be “suspicious activity”. In November of 2019 they determined that the monthly charge from my email company, that had occurred every month for nearly two years, was suspicious and denied payment. This resulted in the email company failing to email to my subscribers for several days reducing my monthly revenue in November by nearly 20%.

Two issues: First, why is a regularly debited amount from a known vendor considered suspicious? (they say they can’t tell me why); and second, why am I not notified that such activity has caused an audit freezing activity on my card?

Their response is they can’t disclose the suspicious activity (it must be a TD Bank secret) and they have no idea why I wasn’t informed of the “audit freeze” but would take steps to rectify it.

Alas, now in January, 2020, just two months later, it happened again. With the same responses of “we can’t tell you why it happened” or why I wasn’t notified.

I am writing this to warn any small business owners that TD Bank cannot be trusted to perform the payments you authorize or to notify you when they halt activity on your business debit/credit card.

TD Bank has not been “small business friendly” to my business.

If you have a TD Bank U.S. checking account (like I do) and use Quicken from your desktop or laptop and want to use the Quicken Mobile App (which stores data in the cloud) you can't because I was told recently by a TD Bank tech rep that the mobile app is NOT supported and will not work.

Imagine that, just plain dumb, so much for customer service. Like me you have a choice between Quicken and TD Bank U.S.

A Hindu lady at Quadra and MacKenzie running the bank as a clerk tried to make me nervous about my investments in 2015. She cannot be messing around with girls at Student Aid BC.

While sitting at the customer service desk doing a wire transfer my car gets towed from TD bank parking lot. Asking the bank manager ALEX to have my car returned he replied NO and threatned to close my accounts.

The service advisor I was dealing with and the security guard all witnesses to this horrible behavior were shocked. Will see what the HIRE UP HAVE TO SAY?

Bought a Cub Cadet zero-turn mower in June, 2016 for $4,500. The mower has never been right. Since then, it has been in the shop for approximately 259 days. The dealer has been outstanding and tried to fix the mower a number of times but even they have finally realized that I have a defective mower that is dangerous. The dealer worked out the deal with Cub Cadet and picked up the mower on June 16, 2018. Cub Cadet agreed to refund my purchase price less $400 wear and tear. Agreed.

Since then, I can't get any information from Cub Cadet or TD Bank. Cub Cadet claims tha tthe claim is in the hands of TD Bank. TD Bank says that the deal is in the hands of Cub Cadet and nobody will give me an address, phone number, email address or any other information that I can use to get to the bottom of this. I am now forced to continue paying on a lawn mower that I no longer have and I have no idea when I'll get a refund or even if I WILL get a refund. I'm using an old borrowed mower to cut my grass and if it breaks, I'll be forced to fix the loaner.

TD Bank and Cub Cadet have gone out of their way to keep me from getting a refund. It seems to me that what they are doing (Cub Cadet and TD Bank) is holding my refund up until I become fatgued with them and settle for less; WHICH I WILL NOT DO!! This borders on criminal behavior and needs to be brought to the attention of law enforcement. TD Bank won't give me an email address or a physical location address or phone number so that I could make some in-depth inquiries.

I was told their online banking system was secure and, on that reliance, put two business checking accounts online. Not secure. both were compromised. Judging from what followed the motto of the Bank should be changed to "America's Most Uncooperative And Deceitful Bank".

TD, although they were aware of the intrusion, TD took three weeks to notify me. However, they did put a hold on my accounts causing the checks issues to be returned "NSF" which did little for both companies image.

When a payee informed me of the problem, prior to TD, I called my Branch. They told me to call the Fraud division and gave me the telephone number. I asked what the problem, but was told all they could tell me was to call. I called and was told of the intrusion and compromise. The rude and hostile male I spoke with answered every question with the answer "You have to go to a branch to straighten this out". His reply to my informing him I lived in New Mexico, two thousand miles away evoked the same response.

I hung up and waited twenty minutes and called back. Got someone else, more professional and co operative. I was told the information given me was not correct, I could fill out the necessary forms before a notary and fax them in. Meanwhile, TD would both honor any checks that had not been declined if I gave them the information and, in addition, if I issued checks and told TD the check numbers and amounts, they would clear. I did so with that TD representative and the checks cleared. When I call back two days later to do the same, I was told "no way" and that could not be done. I informed him it was don two days ago, but he insisted not.

I spent many days and hours trying to get the necessary papers to release the hold. I was told the papers were mailed, but it turned out they were not after 13 days of waiting. I wrote to Mr. Chris Giamo, head of small business accounts at the main office a two page letter outlining what had occurred , the problem I was having and requested his help. No response at all.

At long last I did receive the required papers (coincidently arrival was shortly after I told TD if I had to come to Florida to straighten this out I would also close the accounts) , filled them out and faxed them to the Fraud Division. I waited a week to give TD time to process my papers and called my Branch to get the telephone number of the Fraud Division as I misplaced it. I was told they would call Fraud and call back. After a couple of hours I called a different branch to get Fraud's telephone number and was given a number to call. A non functional number.

I was repeatedly lied to, stalled and, for too much of the time, treated rudely. I still am awaiting a call to discover whether the hold was released and there is access to the funds to write expense checks from the corporate account instead of my personal account, which causes additional accounting problems.

I f you wish to risk this happening to you, bank with TD, but be aware TD did not single me out. They probably will treat you the same and aggravate an already difficult situation.

I received several letters from TDbank in November which I assumed were advetisements so I threw them away. There is not a physical TDbank within an hour of my home, so why would I want to bank with them? Yesterday (1/4/2018), I received a letter from TD Bank saying "We are concerned - Your account is overdrawn" and stating that I must "make a deposit of $204 into my account to clear the overdraft and avoid any additional fees."

I endeavored to call them to clear up this matter and close the account four times on 1/4/2018 and again on 1/5/2018. I was on hold forever (they said because of the weather?) and when I did finally did get someone they said they needed my account/debit or social security number. I only have the last four digits of the supposed account because it is on the letter they sent and I did not want to share my SSN with them because I really don't know who they are.

So, I searched for "td bank scam" and found your website. I'm not sure how I can get this account (which, I repeat) I did not open closed and the charges dropped.

It has been over 7 years since I had a TD Visa. I became permanently disabled and had a claim filed with American Bankers Life Assurance Company of Florida/ American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida for my TD Visa. I was paying the balance protection up to the time the claim was approved and paid as I was informed.

The certificate number is 403-036-307. The claim was approved.

After sending numerous medical records, letters from doctors and phone calls I received a letter from Grace Grande Claims Approver, TD Life Insurance Company stating that my TD Visa was paid in full and I was not to worry about the balance that they would look after it

Well, yesterday, Oct 3, 2017 TD Visa took $6565.23 out of my TD chequing account. I spent all day trying to settle this matter. Nothing has been resolved. I am livid. I was told seven years ago this was looked after and paid by the insurance company. I have letters stating this.

Someone has definitely messed up. They have told me this was paid. I have a statement from March 2010 and I was paying the balance protection. If they have not paid this like they promised me they definitely need to. I have gone over this incident in 2010 with collection agencies and the credit card company and I was informed this was paid in full.

Subject: OD FEES FOUR DAYS AFTER THEY CLEARED PENDING STATUS AND BALANCE REMAINED POSITIVE $2.28 ALL PROCESSED ON THE SAME DAY!!! MARCH 31, 2017

I WANT MY MONEY BACK ($140) absent any more surprise fees. INCLUDING THE $140 YOU TOOK LAST MONTH UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES !!! POSITIVE BALANCE OF $1.49 FEBRUARY 27, 2017.

COPIES OF BALANCE ON FRIDAY ATTACHED FOR BOTH – 4 DAYS LATER SUDDENLY THE BANK HAS STOLEN $140 BOTH TIMES.

FILED A COMPLAINT WITH PEOPLECLAIM AND BANK FAILED AND/OR REFUSED TO RESPOND.

Recycling Deposits now instead of transactions, reporting this to FDIC

On February 23rd I had some pay pal transactions go into my pending balance so I immediately made a deposit on same day of $80 leaving my balance at $1.49. FOUR DAYS later on 2/27 I went to bank to deposit $45 only to find that my balance is now negative $140 for overdraft fees “after deposit” on transactions that never over drafted!!! They posted the deposit last – so back to recycling fees I guess, thought class action suit put a stop to that nonsense? And why four days later? I had a positive balance of $1.49 for four days and ALL transactions had cleared. Nothing was pending, simply a balance of $1.49. I feel these fees are unjust and outright thievery. Andy at the Seabrook NH office is extremely rude to me, more than once and I refuse to deal with him any further. These charges need to be refunded to my account. Technically, I made a deposit that same day so I should not have been charged any fees whatsoever as my receipt and online account showed a positive balance of $1.49 after all transactions cleared, then they change it 4 days later? That manager in Seabrook is out to get me.. Your customer service seems to have their hands tied when it comes to forgiveness which leaves me no choice but to contact my governor, attorney general, insurance commissioner, local newspaper, hank Philippe Ryan, face book and anyone else that will listen.

AGAIN YOU DID THIS APRIL 4TH IN THE SAME AMOUNT $140 AGAIN!!

ALL TRANSACTIONS WERE IN PROCESSING ON THE SAME DAY – NO OVERDRAFT FEES SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED.

If everything is pending on the same date and clears with a positive balance, how can they come back four (4) days later and take fees for overdrafts that never happened?

I am on SSDI for PTSD, Anxiety/Depression, RA, and COPD so when I am hospitalized over the stress this has caused I will make this as public as humanly possible. What a disgrace :(

Unable to resolve this or get my money back from the Seabrook Office - I need Upper management to understand that I cannot afford to lose this much money living alone and on SSI.

I have been a TD Bank customer for almost 8 years and have gotten satisfaction from any branch I have gone to--on Long Island, NYC, Philadelphia, and other places that aren't coming to mind. Except one--West Babylon, NY. That is my local branch, a mile from where I live in Lindenhurst, NY. I have complained several times over the last 3-4 years and have gotten no satisfaction. The customer service, wait times, and just complete disregard for people there is terrible. It has been run for years by a woman named Cara Baldo, who obviously doesn't care. I spoke to her boss, a Regional Manager, Michael Esposito, last Thursday after another bad experience there. Michael assured me that it would be addressed immediately. Just 5 days later now, I went back there and the service is just as atrocious. I was just waiting on a line, they had one teller working, apparently handling a longer than average transaction. Two people ahead of me got impatient and just left. A woman ahead of me called out for more tellers and finally someone else reluctantly came out. But the wait was as usual much longer than it should have been with no one caring at all. And it would have been longer if those 2 people didn't leave. I have reached the point where I am taking my money out of my account and going to a different bank. I would like to remain a TD Bank customer. But after so much frustration and nothing being done, I have reached the point where I have to consider a change. Obviously other people are unhappy with this branch as the above experience can attest. And this Cara Baldo is apparently being treated like Hillary Clinton. No matter how poorly she handles things, she gets a free pass.

TD bank is the biggestripoff there is. i helped my father in law refinance his mobile home. We called several places that would help him, but we decided to go with TD bank. We asked if they handled mobile home mortgages and they said yes. So we went throught the process, whereas they have the most ignorant employees I have ever seen. We dealt with a Kimberly Barr for two months, and she is the most ignorant person I hve ever known. She kept asking for papers and we kept sending them. Several times she said she never got paperwork, which we showed her she did in fact get. she was rude and obnoxious. After going through two months worth of pulling paperwork and ordering reports and such, and after charging us $470 for an appraisal, they said they didnt handle mobile homes.

Why charge an elderly man $470 for an appraisal that they should have told us from the beginning they didnt handle mobile homes?

We sked for. Supervisor and emailed Susan. Never returned a call or emAil. Stay away from td bank folks. They will rip you off and then ignore any calls or emils you send

if you get Kimberly Barr, watch yourself. You will be asked for the same paperwork over and over and be subject to ignorant comments
