First off, I wish I had known about this company before hiring them to help with my partial move. They are the biggest RIP OFF and I would never use them again or recommend them to ANYONE. The beginning of Nov a man by the name of JC, the manager for Swift Van Lines (240 528-0151) called my daughter and gave her a quote of $69/hr for 2men for a 2 hour job at $207. She said we would get back to him. After a couple more conversations and verifying the quote again of $207, including EVERYTHING......shrink wrap, 1 box and blankets to cover the furniture we made the reservation for Nov 30th with my mom's credit card. I then later saw on my mom's CC statement that they charged me $69 x2. I was told that the moving truck would be at the first location between 9 and 10am. On the day of the move my aunt who was at the 1st location called at 1030 and said they had not arrived. I contacted JC and he said he was sorry that they had delays because of the rain. They were just getting to the warehouse and should be there in about 20-25mins. After an hour went by, I called again and JC told me he was sorry and they would be there in about 30-45mins. Another hour went by and JC called me to say that it was gonna be another 30-45mins before they got there. I voiced my concerns about it. He said he would have the truck driver call me. The driver called and said the GPS says we will be there in 18mins. Another hour went by and my aunt said they were still not there. The truck never showed till 1:30pm, 3-4hrs late!! About a half hr later JC called and asked if I could txt him saying that it would be okay for my aunt to sign the beginning contract on our behalf. I told him it was fine that she signed for us but he was hesitant because the name on the beginning contract would not be the name on the final contract with the CC info. He then asked if I was paying cash. I told him no, I was told I could pay with a CC. They finally finished packing up a small bedroom set at 3 pm, an hr and a half later. It then took them 45 minutes to get to our house! The 1st house is LITERALLY 10mins from the 2nd house, 15mins at THE MOST!!!! Again we called JC to find out were they were and were told that they should be there in 5-10mins and that it was almost rush hour and there might be traffic or maybe they stopped to get a drink or for a pit stop. We informed him that stopping to get a drink on our time was unacceptable, considering that we had been waiting all day for this furniture and my daughter cancelled a Doc's appointment at the house when the furniture arrived. They finally showed up at 3:45. At that point we started looking over the contract, which they require you to sign before they will unload the truck. As we were looking it over, I see the materials page with a $185 charge for 4 rolls of tape, 6 packs of shrink wrap, and 1 box. I called JC again to discuss the charges. He was very nonchalant about it. I said I was not expecting to have $185 added. He said well , it's gonna be under $500. And I was taken back because that's not the point. He goes on to say well then the guys will just wait till you sign the contract. Your paying an hourly rate, so the longer we talk, the more time it takes. I asked him, as it is stated at the top of the materials page, if he would discount the materials. I asked for the 70% it states they can discount. He said, I can't at this point as it seems like you don't want to pay your bill. I argued it wasn't that. I was not expecting that much of an extra charge. I asked again if he would discount the materials, this time at 50%. He said he can't. I said you CANT, or you WON'T. He just kept telling me he didn't have time to discuss this and he was busy and he had someone on the other line and they just needed me to sign the contract. I asked again if he CANT discount me or he didn't WANT to. No straight answer. The 3rd hour was about up, so we decided to sign the contract so we could get our furniture. It was 4:30 by the time they finished verifying the contract. The mover told JC that they would be another 30mins. Instead of charging a half hour they charged me a 4th hr. The total came to $530.....4hrs labor and 1hr of travel @$69/hr, plus the $185materials charge. $323 over my original quote....more than twice the original, actually. This company is not professional, has no integrity, and could care less about being fare to anyone. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!!!!

In late May, I used the internet to find a moving company. I received emails from multiple moving companies that were offering estimates. One of the moving companies was Swift Moving and Storage.

JC/Juan Carlos Martinez of Swift Moving and Storage offered to move and store my furniture. I was hesitant but decided to try it. JC emailed me an estimate of $310.50 for 2 men and a truck. The move was scheduled for 6/17/17 at 9am to 10am. The movers did not show up until 12 noon, after several calls to JC and several excuses about traffic.

The movers packed my furniture into the truck. The offered to carry a TV stand to my current residence. When I tried to pay with a credit card, I was told the balance due was $718.68 and insisted I pay with cash. The charges included $69/hr., 7 hours, $160.00 for 2 storage crates ($160/month storage), $35.00 for materials/blankets, and $40.68 for sales tax. I went to the ATM and got the cash to pay. I asked the movers how I would handle the monthly storage payment. I was told to contact JC.

Approximately a week later, I started calling JC to inquire about how to make monthly payments. JC told me to allow a couple weeks and I would receive a email from him with a credit card payment form. I waited and did not receive anything. I called JC again and he emailed me the credit card form. He wanted me to email it back to him but I did not want to because he did not have a secure email. I told JC, I would meet him and give him the credit card form. JC gave an address to a storage facility in Silver Spring and said this is where my furniture is being stored and we can meet there at 6pm for the payment. On the day of our appointment, JC stood me up. I called JC and he apologized and was on the other side of town and could not keep our appointment.

Several more calls were made to JC, some calls were answered, some calls were not answered, and some time passed. I left messages when I called until his mailbox indicated it was full and would not allow me to leave a message. I started sending the SMS text with my phone number for a return call. Eventually, I did speak to JC and made another appointment to meet at the storage facility in Silver Spring. Again, JC stood me up but this time when I called he did not answer the phone. Twice I called and spoke to a woman by the name of Gail. The second time I spoke to Gail, I told her that I was done playing games and chasing JC to give him money and I wanted my stuff. Gail asked me for payment. I told Gail, when I see my stuff you will get your money. Gail said ok and asked when I wanted to meet. I told her 10/7/17 at 10am and asked if she would be there or JC. Gail said JC would be there.

JC did not show up at 10, I called JC, could not leave a message, sent an SMS text, and he called back. JC was insisting on payment prior to turning over my stuff. We spent hour’s haggling over my furniture and payment. Eventually, I called the police. Hour’s and 4 police officers later, JC took me to another storage and gave me my furniture. Needless to say, my furniture was stored with other people’s furniture, not in two crates.

Talk about a move from hell. Today, I paid this con-artist/JC $397.42 (witnessed by the police) a ransom and he tried to insist that I owed him more money. I told him to mark my receipt paid in full or give me back my money and I will go to a lawyer and request that I not pay anything and hold JC responsible for my attorney fees.

Swift Moving and Storage needs to be shut down and JC needs to go to jail and lengthy community service for the disservice that he is doing to the community.

My contract with Swift Movers required a credit card downpayment of $69. This reservation fee was to be applied to the full cost of the move (from Bethesda to Rickville). Mr JC (Swift) offered to refund the credit card deposit if I paid the move in full in cash, which I did and have the paid in full receipt. However, three months after move there is still no refund to my credit card, and now Mr. JC (swift) refuses to return my calls. Unethical company. Do not use them

Don't be like me who didn't do their research before hand.

I set my appointment 1 month out, confirmed my appointment 1-2 weeks out and also the day before for a 9-10 appointment durring the week. The morning of, I got a call from the same gentleman that I spoke with to confirm asking, did we say 12'oclock. I said, no we agreed to a time between 9-10. He said oh, well we will not be able to make it at that time (at the same time I hear what sounds like throwing up in the background). He explains that they still have property in their truck that they need to drop off and that they have a small truck (what this has to do with me or why they still have property on their truck from the previous day was a little strange). The guy assures me that someone will be there by 12 but adds on, no later than 12:30pm. I agree to it, trying to give them the benefit of a doubt. At 11:55 someone (one of the movers from another number) calls me to say we are on the way. I felt releived for a short period of time, only 1 hour passes. I called the original guy back who I guess doesn't do the moving because it sounded like he was at home. He asks, did anyone call you? I said yes at 11:55 (over 1 hour ago), well they should be there any mintue, let me call and find out what happened and call you back. Another hour goes by and I don't hear anything until 3:16. At this point because of the reviews I found online I already decided to cancel with them. He calls and when I don't pick up he sent a text saying "the movers are in route, please confirm we may arrive now" (what???). It takes you two hours to get to me. I responded "don't bother I've already made other plans."

Don't be like me who didn't do their research before hand, and then didn't listen to the others who complained. These people are unprofessional and do not honor their commitments. I'm pretty sure that it was God who saved me from possible fraud (re: last commens found on this website). Yes, people complain online and some of them can be overly dramatic. I'm adding this one, to warn anyone else, do not (do not), use this company. They may be in-expensive, but it's not worth it.

I hired swift van lines to move me from Baltimore city to Cumberland , Maryland. They asked for a detailed list of everything that was in the house that they had to move. JC who said he was the owner told me that he was sending a 26 foot truck that would arrive at 9 am on April 1, 2017. The truck arrived 3 hours late with three men. He sent a 16 foot truck full of someone elses furniture and they wanted to put my furniture on the truck with the other furniture. I protested and told them the other furniture could have bed bugs so my furniture was not going on the truck with someone elses. The movers very unprofessionally took the other persons furniture off the truck and put it on my front porch and in my front yard.

I took lots of pictures so they couldn't deny this later. Now that the truck was empty they began loading my things and I called JC and expressed that the fee cant be the same because he sent a truck that was too small to hold all my furniture. He said no problem he was sending another truck to pick up the rest of my funiture and deliver it to my new address. the second truck is now 5.5 hours late. JC now want extra money to take all the rest of the furniture that didn'tfit on the first truck. I said heck no I'm not paying you double for your mistake. The first truck now leaves to deliver the furniture.

To make a long story short the 16 foot truck arrived at the new house and the driver called JC the owner to let him know they where in Cumberland and JC told him not to unload the truck. They were intructed to hold the furniture hostage until he could make us pay mor money than what was quoted. The truck driver had JC on speaker phone you could tell they had done this before so I had to think quick. I Told the owner if he hols my furniture hostage I was holding his truck hostage.

We had to wait at least an hour before JC came to his senses and allowed the men to unload the truck. They maliciously broke several items bringing them in and the put the bed together backwards. These people are frauds no one should ever use this company. They tried to pull a bait and switch. This company is a Fraud !
