I signed up for a new checking account with the $200 bonus deposit. Based on their own website below, I satisfied the direct deposit amount in the time frame required. Despite my enrollment date being 1/5/16 as taken off SUNTRUST's own view your offers website, I am told this information on their own website is not correct. How convenient for them. Suntrust backdatEd my enrollment date to avoid paying me the bonus money. They refused to use the date on the website below, but chose a date 7 days prior. The funny thing is that they are trying to tell me that even though I couldn't use the money I deposited to open the account, it took a rediculous 12 days to deposit my money electronically, that I was able to use my account. I did not even have an account number as I called customer service to try to set up direct deposit the next day. She said I didn't have an account number yet since my account had not been activated yet. So I can't use the $100 deposit for my checking account because it's floating in space for 11 days, I cannot set up direct deposit because I don't have an account number yet, but somehow I have full use of my checking account? They will do and say anything to avoid paying you this bonus money!

Suntrust is not willing to abide by the information they publish on their own website. After speaking with a research supervisor, the fourth supervisor I spoke with about this, she acknowledged that just looking at the Suntrust webpage below, she agrees that based on their own information, I am right and that I should be paid the bonus money. Unfortunately, she said she is not in charge of that and that their own site is providing false information.

Conclusion? Suntrust makes an offer and fails to follow through for the consumer. I would advise doing business with another bank. If Suntrust cannot be trusted to use information they post on their own website, Suntrust cannot be trusted with YOUR MONEY!

Since I am unable to post an attachment, I copied the picture and pasted it below. This is directly off SUNTRUST's website.

On Friday Feb. 26 around 7:00PM I went to an ATM at a SunTrust branch. I attempted to deposit $500 in cash into my checking account. I put the $500 in the ATM and it attempted to count it. It gave me a message that some of the bills were not read and that my money would be returned for me to reinsert. It only gave me back $260 of the $500 I had put in. It kept $240 of the $500 I had put in. It would not retake the $260. Then it said transaction cancelled and did not return my $240 or give me a receipt. I did a balance inquire and the $240 was not deposited into my account. I filed a claim with their customer service dept. but have heard nothing. I wrote a note explaining what happened and pushed it through the door of the bank which was closed asking them to have a manager call me Sat. morning when they opened at 10:00AM. No one called. I attempted to call them on Sat. morning when they were open and it took me several attempt to finally get a person to answer. The woman I spoke with was very cold and rude and said they was nothing they could do at the branch level. I have called the corporate office several times and still do not have my money or know when or if my money will be returned. I have had zero communication from anyone at SunTrust via either phone or e-mail regarding any solution to my loss. Their customer service and lack of concern for their customers is atrocious. SunTrust owes me $240 and I want it deposited into my account immediately. They could care less.

It would appear Suntrust are trying to force some of their customers to default on their mortgages by force placing insurance (which significantly increases the mortgage premium) on mortgages they would rather not have in their portfolio and then making it next to impossible for the customer to have that forced placed insurance cancelled.

Two:

If they are not trying to manufacture a default then their agenda is for monetary or other executive level gain from their insurance suppliers.

Three:

I have discovered that Suntrust have the most aggressive insurance clause in their mortgage documents I have ever seen and unlike other banks we have mortgages with Suntrust repeatedly enforce this clause. I have had extensive and ongoing issues with Suntrust force placing flood insurance on our properties for the last several years. Every other bank that lends against properties in the same building find the building insurance acceptable and do not force place insurance.

Four:

Suntrust’s customer service department are not interested in resolving issues and merely antagonize and rush to collections immediately threating to damage credit. If you are seeking a mortgage or a car loan and have other options I cannot stress how much of a mistake it is to sign a Suntrust loan agreement. Since experiencing Suntrust’s underhanded business approach we have taken out more than $1M in mortgages and car loans all of which Suntrust have bid for and we borrowed from other banks. I will not give them my business again. I hope the reader will feel the same way and choose another bank after reading the following.
