Sungeel - Danish Mir want to incinerate Lithium Ion Batteries approx. 50' from residential homes. The plastic pouches of the batteries, when melted or burned are known to emit PFAS into the air. Burning batteries produces dioxins and fluorides harmful to humans. This company and Danish stated that they can not protect the children. This company should not incinerate batteries near humans.

So there's this Korean company by that goes by the name SungEel or SungEel MCC Americas that decide to setup shop in Endicott just a few feet from the residential area. Most of us citizens have already voice our protest against this but this guy Danish Mir, the president of the said company insists on continuing with their operations, claiming that they carefully manage their emissions and is closely working with local authorities to ensure that they do so. I'm not only highly suspicious of the posssible collusion or corruption that may be going on why this company is allowed to operate.

Apart from the emissions the facility migh spew out in the air, water and/or soil, the proximity to the residential area is most troubling.

The risks of having a Lithium Ion Battery recycling center around the neighborhood is simply too high. Just the thought of this town being the recipient of all those waste in the air or possibly the water or soil coming from the facility simply outweighs the rewards whatever that maybe. The residents have already expressed their disagreement and ask kindly them not to proceed with this. No amount of PR will clear the air of the PFAS you'll be releasing on the air once you start with this.

SungEel is going to be one of those companies that is giving capitalism a bad name. Sure, you may generate jobs and sure, you may have good intentions why you want to put up that battery recycling center. That’s absolutely fine, but not in Endicott if you want to do so!

It’s unfathomable why anyone in their right frame of mind would want to establish a Lithium Ion Battery Recycling Center some feet away from homes where we lived most of our lives. I would not want to wait for something to screw up in whatever process you're doing that would end up my family and friends end paying with their health.

While I strongly believe in recycling, I do not think a facility such as a Lithium Ion Recycling plant should be present anywhere near residential areas and parks.

EPA has a study about the effect of PFAS, a byproduct of Lithium Ion battery recycling. Study shows this causes serious and lon term effects on both animals and humans. While the company is assuring us locals that it they are managing this a certain acceptable level, I think the best solution is to move out of Endicott. Should the PFAS emissions, by any accident find it's way to the air, soil or water, people living just a couple feet from the plant will most certainly fall victim.

The existence of SungEel's Lithium Ion Battery Recycling Plant in our neighborhood is a threat and a risk to our residents. There is no assurance whatsoever that no leakage of toxins could go to the water supply and the air we breathe. I'm not the only one bothered by presence of this establishment. If you ask most citizens of Endicott, I believe that the vast majority of us are not in favor having this anywhere near us.
