Sundance Custom Homes, LLC. Reviews

Bud has conducted business under the names BDG Construction, Sundance Custom Homes, and Gannon Custom Homes. We hired Bud and Denise to build a large custom home. The project progressed for about 6 months before it started downhill. Subs stopped showing up. Nobody on site for weeks at a time. Painters who were actually illegals who owned paint brushes with zero actual skills. Subs began knocking on our door, looking for payment. We were grateful for the unseasonable rainfall in July, because it uncovered several structural leaks that would have spelled disaster later on. Zero oversight on the job. "Other” jobs constantly taking precedence. We discovered at least one draw where Bud was supposed to use the money on a deposit on one item.

We called that company a few months later, and they’d never heard of Sundance (Gannon) Custom Homes. Bud apparently "forgot” to make the deposit with them. You don’t take a nearly $5K deposit from a bank and forget to give it to a vendor. Invoices on major items were never provided, as stipulated, by contract. Our 180-270 day project ultimately stretched to 499 days. So much substandard work had to be repaired or redone. Much of it has yet to be completed. These items include, but are not limited to: Cracked backsplash in the kitchen Flaking and pitted concrete on the porch Broken granite backsplash in the study, installed by Bud himself Broken and missing cabinetry hinges Completely missing shelves in cabinets Leaky plumbing Rocking toilets Closet rods lying around, uninstalled Paint overspray on the exterior of the home. It looks awful.

Missing stain on exterior Missing weather stripping on doors Vent hood installed crooked Master shower valve is incorrect; it doesn’t fit the handle, which fell off the fixture. We are missing window screens and the blind inserts from the back doors. Garage door installed incorrectly. It actually derailed on one side. Very dangerous! Our deck is missing two boards, because two were damaged upon delivery. Who doesn’t order a few extra on a project like this? We now have two gaps on our deck, temporarily filled with bare boards we bought. It has been an uphill battle, trying to procure just two more boards, because we don’t know where Bud ordered them from (no invoices again), and the company doesn’t sell to the public.

What a nightmare. The job site was a mess. We had to beg and plead for port a potties and a dumpster. The crowning jewel was the water bottles full of urine left in the attic by subs, and found several months later. Very sloppy, all around. We had to personally take time off from work to babysit this project on a regular basis. We had friends pitching in to help install hardware at the end, because the Sundance crew apparently didn’t have time for us. Ultimately, due to substandard and unfinished work, the home appraisal came in horribly low, which was ultimately a huge financial blow. Meanwhile, we continue to receive calls, letters, and invoices from unpaid subs, whom Bud told us he paid. We have attempted to communicate our concerns with Bud and Denise via certified mail, but they apparently don’t like to claim certified letters. This job has been rife with substandard work, zero oversight, breaches of contract, and deceptive business practices on the part of Sundance (Gannon) Custom Homes. We cannot possibly recommend him at this time.
