After following Kay on Instagram for sometime I decided to take a class for eyelash extensions instructed by her. I paid her a $250 deposit on Wednesday at 9:35 am, September 15th, and our class was scheduled for 9am Friday morning(Sept 18). Subsequently, my kit did not arrive because it was order too close to the 'training'. Which I would have assumed if she knew this would happen she would have had it directly shipped to me in the first place, but she informed me it was shipped to her mothers house. The 'training' was held in a hotel room that she was sharing with her four year old daughter. To begin she hands me a cracked iPad and tells me to watch a YouTube video while she works on a client. I paid her the additional $500 for the course. The training consisted of me playing around with my models lashes while she ignored me and her child. Eventually letting me look over her shoulder while she worked.

She had no training material, she shared tid bits of her experience over the passed year she had been in business(including the different disputes, and court case she had dealt with {red flag}). Several hours later she checks my work, says I'm doing great, then does not finish my models lashes for her. Between 9am-4pm she did not watch me for a minute to see if I did anything correctly, and made my model leave with 1/4 of the procedure done. After the "training" she tells me my kit has been shipped to philly, then it got lost, but is now on its way to Atlanta. I live in Virginia. Finally, after a week of no updates or tracking number, I asked PayPal to at least refund my initial $250. She replies, a week after she said it would be shipped in 24hours, that because I opened a dispute the package was rerouted back to her. PayPal has nothing to do with shipping procedures. She is an unprofessional scam artist.

Rigged Reviewing System, No Quality Control

StyleSeat is a dishonest company that does not ensure that clients receive quality service. They make their money from stylists who pay a fee to have an account, so they tend to side with their stylists in a dispute.

Their reviews are dishonest. Stylists can hide negative reviews, which defeats the purpose of having a reviewing system.

Even if the appointment was carried out, stylists can cancel an appointment to avoid getting a negative review. When this happens StyleSeat makes no effort to reinstate the client's ability to write a review. Even if the client can post the review, stylists have the ability to hide reviews that make them look bad. That is biased and unfair. StyleSeat makes no effort to accommodate clients who had their appointments wrongfully canceled or had their negative reviews hidden.

There is no quality control, meaning scamming stylists can stay on the site as long as they pay their fees to StyleSeat.

There is no dispute system, meaning if a stylist behaves unethically you cannot file a claim.

Their customer service is horrendous. They make no effort to resolve conflict or take necessary action against dishonest stylists.

There is no way to filter out good stylists from bad ones because of their horribly biased system.

To StyleSeat: Make your reviewing system fair. Give stylists no control over reviews (like on Yelp or Google) so they cannot manipulate their ratings. Allow anyone to write a review, so stylists cannot cancel appointments to avoid getting bad reviews. Actually take the time to create a dispute system so that clients can file claims against poor stylists. Implement a buyer protection policy like Ebay does so clients are safe. Implement a quality control system so poor quality stylists cannot advertise on your site. Offer a solution for poor service. Have integrity and stop covering up bad reviews.

A client Tiffany booked an appointment a week ago. I require credit card authorization through StyleSeat for all new client, as i am new to this service. She came but her card declined. I made arrangements with her to collect the pay. I contacted sytleseat they said they could not pursue it her because my "expresspay" account was not set up or active. I told then that it was no fault of mines i took the channels to set it up. I was told all i had to do was add my account number and i did. I told them that she is coming back and i will contact her before then. Add i did. She booked the following week for a friend at this time my express pay was active. However she did not show up. According to my policy clients who don't show up get charged 100% of thier appointment. I was told by a stylseat rep that even if thier card declined as an expresspay member i would still get paid. I looked in my account and saw that her appintment was cancelled.

I contacted Tiffany and stylseat. She said that at 2:34 styleseat charged her card for the appointment which was at 12pm. How can that be she was a "No show" and in the system it was marked cancelled. I told her she needs to pay and they will contact her. After talking to styleseat and reading the policy i was told nothing could be done. Even though the policy is to pay the stylist despite the issue with client credit cards. I have record of all this. And i just want my money that is owed to me for both appointment.
