Around September 2014 I signed up to do 2 Certificate IV's with Studywell College. I made a start and it became quite frustrating. As my son was born I put the two courses on the side for a few months. When I picked it up again, the learning materials became increasingly difficult to utilze and when I finally went to submit a unit, the feedback from the trainer was 'not good enough'. Well, a student is only as good as the tools they've been given to work with.
These guys seem to use the low quality high volume model in their business. It appears they want to have a large pool of students and sell courses for as cheap as possible. Example: A Certificate IV course online can go anywhere from $500 to $1,500 online or from $1,500 to $4,000 in the classroom. Studywell College on the other hand does 3x Certificate IV's for $399! It's my suspicion that their profit from each course is so low that they cannot afford the financial outlay to have them improved. That old quote of 'you get what you pay for' is evident here.
I finally got a refund (well only 50%) after numerous emails backwards and forwards. I detailed in my blog post about how to do the same, just search 'Studywell College Reviews' and you'll find how to get a refund. There's a also a lot of negative student feedback in the comments section as well about this Registered Training Organization.
Around 18 months on and it's evident that their training materials are still very broken. I would highly discourage anyone from signing up to one of their courses and instead choosing one of the many other RTO's offering exactly the same courses where the units are much less challenging. Also, I feel that with dozens of bad experiences from current and former students, this training organization may not be around for much longer so your enrolment may not be safe.
