Southeast Ky Audiology Services, Inc. Reviews

I bought a pair of Widex 220 hearing aids from this location under a program AARP promotes HEAR USA, paid $3800 plus tax,, was fitted march 28th 2017, with a 3 year warranty, after 1st day i called back and complained of extreme whistling and loud popping, was told that was normal ,that they would adjust themselves, tried to wear them for weeks and the popping was. walking on small gravels or grit on a hardwood floor, sound like walking on bubble wrap,,called again to report problem, was told to turn them to lowest setting and made an appointment for Aug.2017,, when i went for that appointment, audiologist said problem was size of foam on canal, and she put larger foam pads and reprogrammed them, had a lot of trouble getting aid in ear due to large foam ,she finally crammed them in for me,while driving 50 miles back home ,the whistling was still there, called tech back, she said, set them low and increase them over a 2 week period, she also told me to use my pinky finger to push them as far back as posible, i told her they were already very uncomfortable, she said well you have only 2 choices, be uncomfortable or put back on the smaller foam pieces and listen to them feedback the whistle, tried wearing them with the large foam,i would get severe earaches within a few hours , and take them out, and couldn't stand to touch my outerear for 2 or 3 days where they would get so sore, i woke up 1 morning after wearing them the day before with blood on my pillow coming from my ear,

called back to office, they gave me a Feb. 23 2018 appointment, i asked to see a different doctor than the other 2 i had saw on other appointments, saw a new doctor and told her the story i just wrote, and told her my aids were amplifing noisy like candy being unwrapped ,and any grit on a concrete floor or hardwood floor sounded extremly loud like walking on bubble wrap popping, she said that was normal sounds that i hadn't been hearing because of hearing loss, i explained that when i was a teen and in my 20s that it didn't sound that way, she tried to tell me then i must have been having hearing problems back then, which is the most stupid thing she could have said,i explained to her i worked in an office with 10 other workers and 1 fellow worker had a wrist watch that alarmed at 5pm for quitting time, i was the only one of 10 that could hear that chime, all the other guys including the one wearing the watch couldn't hear it, so i know my hearing was good, when i ask about exchanging my aids ,she advised me 90 days had passed and i couldnt trade them, i told her i wore a pair of WIDEX 440 as a demonstrator pair when i 1st came to the office and i would pay the difference, she then said all she was doing is fulfilling her contract with patients that had bought thru HEAR USA, and that she didn't work with them other than sending a defective one back to widex or ordered and programmed any that was sent back, she said i should have come back within the 90 day trial period if i wanted a refund

,i explained to her the calls i made, and how her techs kept telling me they would adjust themselves and had put me off from the 1st call on march 29 to Aug .saying it would take time, now i hear a person in a noisy room opening a piece of candy, and happen to try wear my shoes on a hardwood floor pops so loud that it hurts my ear, but a person sitting 5 feet away in church, i have to ask them to repeat what they said, and driving my car, they pick up so much road noise, that i have to remove them to have a conversation with someone sitting beside me. I offered to pay the difference between the 220s which i found out dont have voice enhancement, to the 440s that has more channels and voice enhancement, this is the type they let me wear 3 days, which i could hear good, but when i went back to get mine, i was told the 220s i bought was just as good with the type of hearing loss i had.

I started calling from day 1and was lied to, about them adjusting one another and the whistling would go away. Right now i have a $4000 pr of hearing aids that 4 techs at SOUTHEAST KY AUDIOLOGY has tried to get the whistling and popping out and nothing has changed, they set on the nightstand because of the discomfort and the Doctors try to convince you the popping and whistling is normal, they have dropped HEAR USA program and tell you anything to get you out of the office, I feel like the owner Elizabeth knew she was leaving the program when she sold me these, because in my opinion ,these were old stock, because WIDEX had a 220 out in march last year ,$200 dollars cheaper per aid and had bluetooth and more feature than the ones they sold me, if she knew she was leaving Hear USA and sold me her old stock or maybe even some that had been refurbished, all i know this lady is not willing to help me, she plainly told me ,that she made more money selling on her own than she did on HEAR USA referrals, long story short, widex 220s amplify noise but not voice, and are overpriced, and if you live anywhere in the tri state area of TN,KY OR VA. use someone else to help you with your hearing problem ,because this woman is about herself and staff, if you tell her one of her staff told you to do this or that or that you called and talked to a certain tech., she justly plainly says she don't believe you without asking the tech you told her you talked to.There was a great Dr. named AMBER worked there ,but moved to LAS VAGAS in june and started her own business, if she was still there she could vouch for the number of times i called
