Smile Direct Club Reviews

I purchased their product and tried it for over 1.5 years with very little if any improvement. I complained to them many times but they would not give me my money back. They are a RIPOFF!

D about receiving braces from the Smile Direct Company. I met with the Smile bus people and was mislead many different ways. I gave an initial down payment on the spot.

After receiving the aligners almost a month later(while already being billed for the first month, on top of the down payment), I was only given 5 months worth of aligners. The aligners were flimsy and did not fit right.

I contacted the company by telephone. A women in charge of my account called me and when I asked for a refund I was told I was already passed the 30 days allowed by 5 days. Mind you, they took almost four weeks to arrive in the mail.

Now I am in over $400 total(down payment and 2 automatically dedeucted installments! I called again and explained the pain I was dealing with as the retainers did not fit properly. They were either cutting into my gums and cheeks or wouldn't snap on the teeth at all. I was instructed to cut or file them down to make them fit.

I sent pictures in and a complaint regarding them not fitting and was given the run around and ignored.

By the 6th week of aligners out of 20 week treatment, I was fed up!!! They were still trying to take money from my bank after denying me a refund after me asking within the 30 days. They failed multiple times to leave the right notes in my file as each time I spoke with an associate I would ask what the notes stated only to find out nothing was noted accurately, if at all. The associates were either very poorly trained or rude.

I decline to allow them to take any more out of my bank. At this point in time they had already received almost $600 out of me for the treatment with no cooperation on their part.

I am now in collections after refusing to pay them anymore. They did not fail to respond when it came time to payment and I would expect nothing less from a company who is committing fraud against unsuspecting consumers who just want a prettier smile.

Bottom line, they are very unprofessional and I will not pay them any more money than they deserve. The almost $600 I wasted was too much as it stands.

I have worked very hard to get my credit rating in excellent standing and they have ruined it. I will be seeking more people who are in the same boat and possibly a lawyer.

Thank You Smile Direct for your lack of honesty and making me feel like a fool for trusting you with my oral health and bank account information.

Signed up and paid for service. Used aligners for 6 months as directed. About 4 months in, I could tell teeth were not moving as expected because alingners fit poorly. Contaced company as was told to proceed through series of aligners.

At the end, I contacted them with my compaints and sent pictures but they won't respond. Once they have your money and send aligners, you're on your own. They don't want to hear any negative feedback. Before beginning, you send pictures and send impressions of your teeth.

I did that and they said "you're a candidate". The only thing they are concerned with is taking your money. Expensive misatke. Wish I never heard of Smile Direct Club.

I thought I'd give this company a try because of their TV ads. I visited a local outlet who waved a "wand" around my mouth to measure my teeth. I paid the $1895 fee upfront (big mistake) for their program.

The "kit" with aligners arrived in about two weeks as promised, but the very first set of plastic aligners were defective. The edge of one was folded inside the cavity where it should fit over teeth and wouldn't seat. I called their 800 number and spoke to someone with a thick accent, who I never could understand. The person put me on hold, then hung up on me after a couple of minutes. I called back a while later and was put on hold again. I waited some 8 or 9 minutes and gave up. So since I couldn't talk to an English-speaking person about the defective aligner, I decided to begin the program with the second week's set. Those had some rather sharp edges which caused raw spots in my mouth but I was able to shape them with a dremel tool. Once that week was finished I moved on to the third week's set. Those were split in half making them totally useless.

I tried emailing the company about them on September 11th. They wanted a photo of the defect which I provided. They thanked me for the photo and promised to ship a new set and to expect them to arrive within 10-14 business days.

After 4 weeks and no replacement aligners, I emailed again asking if they were planning to ship the replacements. No response. At All. So today, SIX WEEKS later I emailed again. This is their response:

"We recently had a significant increase of aligner orders and a small set of aligners ended up being delayed. Unfortunately, yours were caught behind that in the queue. We do apologize and will be able to get them to you shortly. Please expect an email with the tracking information once we shipped your aligners.

We have placed your Aligner order on September 13th, 2019 which will be delivered to the shipping address on your account. Please allow us 3-4 weeks for manufacturing and shipping process."

So, they want me to wait another 3-4 weeks for a replacement. I also noted on their return emails that they are apparently located overseas as there are spanish-language headings in their emails.

Beware of this scam overseas company!

Word of advice... don't lose an aligner!!! I've been waiting for 9 weeks now for a replacement aligner that I was charged $99. I've sent numerous customer service inquiries which all led to nothing. Now I have the remaining program (minus the 2 week aligners I'm missing) along with a retainer that I will never use!

I was given excuses about compliance delays in the manufacturing process. At this point, no one has been able to give me the status of my replacement. All I receive are justifications for the postponement. After my second request for compensation, I was told this morning that my program will be cancelled, and that I'll receive a prorated refund. What as waste of time & money!!

I am seeing health damaging results in cases treated by Smile Direct. I have evaluated the results of Smile Direct's care in patients, and this service will and is causing much damage and distress to the general public especially in the long term despite not being obvious at this early stage. There is no direct professional supervision, care or preventive dental care during, before or after treatment with Smile Direct.

There are no attachments, power ridges, elastics, interproximal reduction to create proper spacing, etc. to control the movement of the teeth. Before treatment is started their is no control of, or evaluation of the periodontal health of the patient. Expansion is used indiscriminately with no consideration for the actual anatomy, or periodontal health of the patient.

Anyone who is trained well in Dental and oral health, Orthodontics, and really cares about preventive dentistry and long term dental and oral health could not approve of Smile Direct. I am highly suspicious of any dentist or health professional who would approve of what Smile Direct is doing and I believe if you investigated those who approve you will find some financial or other incentive is responsible.

Okay they can only adjust the front 6 teeth, if ur issue goes beyond that they wont be able to move them so you are better off with traditional braces always...SDC is more dangerous for your teeth than invisalign because they are telling you to move onto next tray after only a week..when its usually two weeks..causing loose teeth, significant bone loss and receding gums..this happened to me and I never thought it would.

The trays are terrible and go over your gums not stopping at teeth but over the gums and I think this contributes to gum problems on top of moving teeth waaaay too rapidly. The bottom trays sometimes dont fit right and you have to skip to next tray when they are already being moved too fast.

Next issue the video they show you is deceptive. They show your teeth magically lifting with no movement of teeth..but same with invisalign..both of these are ripoffs and bad for teeth, your teeth bouncing back and forth everytime you take out n put in tray..unlike with traditional braces where your teeth are constantly secured..but having this be done with mail order is soo much worse.

The price is not worth losing your teeth. I now need to get deep cleanings instead of regular cleanings due to receding gums and bone loss. On top of this it could not address my problem.

This company is ran by egotistical men. Management are all friends from sunglasshut or guitar center that was able to get an "in" from an old colleague at guitar center. None have dental experience, their position is to sell. Sell by any means necessary and fire those who pose valid concerns or questions. The "hotline" is a joke. You voice concerns only to be put right back in the same boat. All of the higher ups are friends. They would like the world to believe they are concerned with their employees but its ruse. Right now theres are managers who are bullying and blatantly lying on staff but the regional and district manager along with HR Director continue to protect them. Almost every single worker has been fired under the leadership of Gustavo Beaujardin. He has lied and thrown his entire team under the bus to save himself. His goal is to get a completely new team who doesn't know all his dirty little secrets. To date he fosters a deceptive atmosphere because he knows his manager, Michael is his friend and will look out for him. Abusive, calculated and manipulative are the words to describe the management team. Buyer beware, these aligners are quick and cheap but at the cost of gaps and bite issues forming that weren't there before. Its all in the very fine print they are so eager to have you sign before you start treatment/appointment. This is Most devicive, counter productive, most manipulative company I have ever come across.
