My name is Howard Klotzkin and I order product from Smart Tint Inc. when I received it, it was NOT WORKING. At the instruction and guidence of THEIR STAFF i attempted to make "repairs" to the item, with no success. After various attempts I was instructed to return the item for repairs.

Once i returned the item I was told because I attempted to fix it, at THEIR INSTRUCTION, that it was no longer under warranty and I am now responsible to pay $250.00 to fix it!!!!!

I called "Will" to discuss this matter and he was extremely RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!! The conversation ended with me being told that my business will go out of business LONG BEFORE HIS DOES!!!!!

I have several business associates that have also used Smart Tints "products" and have had similar experiences.

Long story short...THEY ARE A SCAM!!!!!!! They ship product that DOESN'T WORK AND REFUSE TO REPLACE THEIR OWN DEFECTIVE PRODUCT!!!!!!

First contact with Smart Tint in August 2015, requested a sample of the product. When the sample arrived a month in the end of September the electrical connections were broken and we had to put them back together. We requested a quote with specific dimensions in the color black and non adhesive. When the quote was recieved, the dimensions and color were wrong and they quoted Adhesive Tint. Requested a corrected quote.

We received our Smart Tint on November 13th, 4 days after it was promised, the tint looked white, however the paperwork stated the product was Black and that it was non adhisive. Confirmed with Smart Tint it was Black. After watching all the videos on the Smart Tint website, we install the tint.

Immideately we knew something was wrong, it was white and there were streaks and bubbles through the entire door. We called John Adams at Smart Tint he assured us that we could just work these lines and bubbles out.

On November 24th we sent 7 pictures of the installed smart tint, which were white in color full of lines. The first comment from Sam Adams of Smart Tint was that we installed it incorrectly. We told him that we watched all the video's and washed the glass 3 times just to make sure nothing was on it. Adam told us we could remove the tint and send it back to them in New York and they may be able to fix it, however we could not remove it from the glass door. We had to have a third party of Smart Tint's choice come to our office on a Saturday to tell us that the color was white and not black the Tint has been damaged but that he could not tell how it had become damaged. He noticed that the Tint had started to split where we tried to remove it from the glass and stated that is was adhesive tint and not non adhesive tint.

The third party vender spoke with Smart tint and we requested a new piece of Smart Tint in Black and non adhesive and we would have their representative install the new piece. Sam Adams told us he would only give us a $300.00 discount and we would have to purchase a new piece and that because it was installed inproperly they would not replace it

We purchased Smart Tint for a client. One of the requirements is to pay in full prior to production. We were told our product would be 1-2 weeks. We called frequently when we did not recieve our product and was informed that it has not passed quality control. On the final call of asking where it was , we were again told it did not pass quality control and we requested to cancel the order ( 2 months later) and refund our money. The smart tint showed up 2 days later. Our calls went unanswered . We decided to install the smart tint for our very angry client that had also given a 7000.00 deposit . It was a disaster. The clarity when in clear mode looked frosted. Their website and data says 97% clarity . It was so cloudy it looked like frosted film. Once the electric was connected. One sheet did not match the next sheet . Opacity of the frosted version look like a checkered board. It was embarrassing. We were told by our client to remove it and give him a full refund in which we did. I cannot blame him one bit . It was horrible . We called numberous times, emailed numberous times every hour every day for weeks. Not one return phone call or email. These people are scammers. They have a poor quality product and are rude and very unprofessional. They work off a phone service where you ever can reach them. I also googled their address on my invoice and it shows it is a US Postal Service. Please avoid doing business with these people.

They need to be stopped and quit stealing peoples monies.

First off, let me start by saying I am in no way a competitor, just simply another sucker for their crappy product! Conversations and research start out in great fashion, until you order the product. Upon receiving shipment, they did not send all parts receivable, had zero instructions and upon inspection we noticed: the material was not cut square, it was not the dimensions we sent, and once tested some of the panels did not work. One would think no probelm, a quick call and all will be good, right? WRONG

This is where things begin to get interesting. Smart Tint and their "valued" employees first off, blame you for the panel not working, and somehow in their belittled minds make it seem like you owe them for breaking their crappy product. After a conversasion of absolute disgust, they want you to pay a "small fee" of $300 dollars to repair the panel and ship it back to them for $200 dollars in shipping fees.

So now your in for another $500 dollars, in which you are paying for something you did not do. Next thing you do is WAIT. Wait for the product to be repaired and shipped back to you. Keep in mind I spend $6,000 dollars orignally for this. After about 2 weeks, I get the "repaired" panel back.

Only to find out that they cut the top portion of the panel off 1"-2" to make the repair. This is not repaired Smart Tint, you have now created a bigger problem than before. Another phone call later, they give you 1 of 2 options, figure out a way to cover the portion they cut off, or buy another panel. Give them more money for again something you did not do!

The employess at Smart Tint, are completely rude, unprofessional, close minded, and should not be allowed to be in business. If I have a company or customer service CUSS at me, something is entirely wrong! I am filing with the BBB, and every social media site I can get my hands on, to let consumers know of the rip off, no moral, unprofessional company that they are! For now, I am filing Litigation to handle the rest and hopefully get a return on my near $20,000 investment with Smart Tint.

I ordered the Smart Tint product without adhesive and the salesman checked off "with adhesive" on the shop order and claimed that since I signed off that I was responsible. That may be true, but I specifically told him without adhesive and he said, "since you are putting the material between two pieces of glass you don't need it and that will work better."

I assumed that we had that point understood and I did not review the shop order thoroughly because we came to verbal understanding, my mistake. Bottom line is that they refused to make the situation right and told me that I could order another piece at a reduced cost-big of them.

Warranty Validation ([email protected])

John Adams, Director of Operations

Will Sharp, Operations

Gentlemen,

I have worked with you the past several weeks to address, what I believe to be a defective product. At this point we have come to no consensus on how to move forward towards resolving this dispute.

At this point I think it is appropriate to recap the history of problem to regain our perspective. Last year I bought two panels of Smart Tint to cover two adjacent French doors. Apparently, there is some confusion as to the panels color. My documentation shows Black yet you claim the order was for Gray. For the sake of the discussion, the color is irrelevant-I was reasonably happy with the product, I won’t go into why I wasn’t perfectly happy, but life was good.

Then earlier this year there was an accident and the panel on the right French door was damaged. I ordered a replacement panel. I thought I ordered the matching color, dimensions, and wiring layout. But, again there appears to be confusion about that. I have attached the documentation I have that itemizes my order, but I’ll go with whatever Smart Tint has on record. Again, for me, and the sake of the discussion, the color is irrelevant, the measurements and wiring layout was fine.

So, let’s review the problem. I have attached the current pictures of the French doors as a reminder.

During the past several weeks you have told me the panels I ordered are two different colors. I am unable to dispute that. I only have my documentation to prove I ordered the same color. Having said that, even if the two panels are different colors, Black and Gray, shouldn’t they at least be at the same level of transparency at full power?

You’ve suggested it is a wiring issue. We addressed that concern by running each panel on separate power supplies at full power, so we have eliminated the wiring.

You’ve stated a difference in older technology (2018) and newer technology (2019) of one year is the problem. I am unable to comment.

You’ve have also stated differences between different batches is the problem. I am unable comment.

After all we’ve gone through, can this really be right, even with the items I am unable to comment on?

You have asked me to remove the film from the door, package it, and return it to you for evaluation. However, after reading reviews on Yelp and Yahoo, I really question the probability Smart Tint will determine the product is defective. In fact, I strongly suspect you Smart Tint will respond that I have breached the warranty despite the product working this way right out of the box.

Based on my recent experiences with Smart Tint, reading Smart Tint reviews, and learning more about the company (i.e. discovering the company’s address is Waldbaum’s per Google-Earth, no direct company phone number), I prefer to terminate my relationship with Smart Tint and pursue an alternative product/technology with a source I have can have confidence will support their product and me. If only I had done my due diligence in 2018.

Well, I placed an order for tint with the dimmer system for my car from Smart Tint. Will Sharp had taken my order promptly and assured that I'd get my ordered next day delivered at the cost of 117.00. I can say that 4 days later it arrived, nothing like the pictures on their website. My installer installed it to their specifications and it didn't work. The inverter they had sent didn't even cut on , it had rusted screws and looked old. The tint wouldn't stay stuck to the window. I contacted Mr.Sharp he eventually contacted me and advised to send the inverter back which I did. They sent back another brand inverter that didn't match the other equipment. They sent me more broken items, no instruction manuals. I sent them emails and pictures of their defective products as well as left numerous messages with no response. I will be contacting legal representation.

Smart Tint is one of the worst companies I have ever worked with. Not only is their product sub par, but the customer service with Will Sharp is the worst I have ever received from a company. I own a successful remodeling company and could never stay in business treating my customers the way they have treated me. I spent over 2500 on material for the initial order, and then when it started to fail they wouldn't warranty anything so I had to order another panel at over 1000 that I now have to throw. It arrived damaged, and they just advised me that they don't cover damage regardless of whether it arrived that way. They told me to put caulking on it to hide it. Unbelievable. I tried to use it anyway and it failed just as the other panels as I will describe below.

When I first contacted Smart Tint I should have realized that things were shady when my call was answered by an outsourced call center where they take your number and then pass on a message.

You cannot get a hold of anyone in the actual company directly. Upon requesting a quote they seemed somewhat helpful, although they were very slow. I was ordering 2 panels that would be butt together in a shower area to cover a large window. They assured me that the panels were fine for a wet area, and they said they were laser cut so the edges would butt together completely so there wouldn't be a gap.

The first problem was when we noticed a nice gap between the two panels. They touched at the top and bottom with a nice gap in the center. Not laser cut (unless their laser is a poor quality as they are), and there wasn't anything they were going to do to fix that. Then about a week after installation the real problems started. Right at the seam white spots from the top to the bottom of the seam on both panels. I called them right away and they said to just silicone it and they would stop. Now I had a seam, with silicone, and white spots where the LCD material was deteriorating. It looked bad. But one of the spots continued to grow to about the size of a half dollar. I called them and told them the problem. They said it might be mold and to clean behind it. When I tried to peel back the materials the sheets just separated, so obviously they do terrible with moisture and completely deteriorate. They wouldn't warranty the panel saying it was damaged even though they said it was made for wet areas, so I had to order a new one. That panel arrived with damage already on the edge. Not sure how it got there but it was there when we opened it up and installed it. Again, not covered under warranty.

We installed the panel upside down to hide the damaged edge since they wouldn't warranty it, and after 2 days the white spots started showing up again even with the silicone. All they had to do was tell me this wasn't made for wet areas and I would have found a different solution. Now I am many thousands of dollars in the hole between materials and labor and all they have are excuses. Stay away and find a better company as I am now going to do.

I personally had a bad experience with this company.

I am an electronic's engineer with a home theatre business. I have had request for electronic film a number of times and have in the past brought in external fitters for this.

I had a smaller install which required a single sheet of film and decided to try smart film. Disaster.

I placed an order and received it without a hitch. It unfortunately, the job itself took 4 months before it was ready to install the product.

Upon arrival of Smart Film's product I checked out the product as is the guideline with the warranty. It appeared to function as I would expect. rather naively I discovered that I may not have inspected the produce quite well enough. For startes the film is relatively thick, Much thicker than you might expect something using the term "film" to be. No problem at all, however the smart film product has protective "films" (- actual film) on either side of it... one to protect the lightly adhesive side, and one to protect the finish side. The film on the protected side was wrinkled and whilst I applied power and gave the film a once over I either didn't inspect it well enough, or my problem arose later during the incredibly light handling of the film during my attempted install.

Upon installation it went fairly well, however as I got to the end of the piece, I noticed the two layers that make up the "smart" film product coming apart. This appeared visually a little like a cracked calculator screen when power was applied. This portion didn't clear right and was milky in appearance.

I contatced the original sales person "John Adams" and asked whether this could be a product of something i had done. I was concerned that perhaps there could be a manufacturing issue, or something the company would consider unusual.

I received a reply from Will Sharp who works in the company's "Operations" desk. Wiliaml asked for photos which I promptly provided before he replied with a fairly short email with words to the effect of "yup, it's broken, but buy another with a few hundred bucks off"

...No reply to my question of how this could have happened given the fact that I'd barely touched the film, no acknowledgement.

William is clearly not great at PR or customer relations.

I replied suggesting that which I appreciated the offer of buying more with whatever his discount was (20% or thereabouts) I was concerned that the fault was not something I had caused. I asked whether it could be a manufacturing issue.

I waited 4 days and no reply before I nudged him saying that I was surprised he hadn't bothered to have the courtesy to reply. I said I was surprised that he hadn't gone to any lengths to ensure to me that should I place an order for a replacement it would not fail like the first unit.

I promptly received another email saying that on the basis I had found no damage on the original delivery when inspected it was clearly my fault.

Its fascinating how badly wrong companies get it when it comes to dealing with customers. Had I felt less patronised, and more supported as a customer who had spent good money on a product that had not delivered - Irrespective of ultimate fault, I may have considered buying a new piece of film from this comany. Given that Will Sharp at "Smart Film" was entirely unsympathetic, it goes without saying that I will not be ordering another piece of film from them.

I filled in some information to get a quote on their product at 10:00pm on a Sunday night. Within 12 hours, I had been contacted by Sears Home Improvement, Champion Windows, Eurotech Remodeling, and 5 other places that they had sold my information to. Including repeats, I received about 15 calls and emails.

Do not ever input information into their website as it will be immediately sold. I'm now getting all kinds of other junk mail that I can't stop. I would have bought about $2,000 from them if they were legit. What a bunch of a-holes!

Smart tint is not clear. It is cloudy. Not as described Clear to frosted). Total crap.

The film also comes with a copper strip which isn't mentioned. The copper goes right on the window. So someone has to add trim to the entire window to hide it.

Customer service is nonexistent. No responses. Many mistakes made during ordering process. They take your money and run.

Amazing Technology

Hello I must say that this product and company is excellent. We purchased a very complicated conference room worth of material and taking I to concideration all of the different contractors involved between electricians, architects and designers they were very knowledgeable and helpfull. There product performed excellent and was manufacturered to our specifications with accuracy and ahead of schedule. They walked our installers through first time installation questions and provided tips that were valuable. I guess with any new technology certain customers can be frustrated easily causing theme to write unfavorable reviews over small learning curves. I give them a thumbs up and must say they went up an above our expectations. We will be ordering more material from them and if you wish to see there product in action in NYC simply come to discovery zone in time square and look at the marvel super heroes exhibit. You can see every superhero from the hulk to spider man displayed behind their technolgy. We definitely made the correct choice and invite you to come and see for your self.
