Smart Start has been defrauding people for many years without any kind of checks are balances. They can do pretty much anything they want too. I like many, many others was charged for a voilation that never happen. I was told to pay 80 dollars there are no exceptions! I tryed getting help form the State but they believed everything this company told them. And you have to realize the State of New Mexico is also making money. I have contacted the Attorney General ,and my Congress Women in the hope they will look in to and expose this country wide explotation of all kinds of people, that have no choice but to pay or not drive.

I unfortunately fell for the good reviews that were posted about Smartstart. If you are thinking about getting this particular devise installed into your vehicle DON'T DO IT!!!!!. I had it installed and nothing but problems for the first month. Would lock me out frequently which I would have to take time off of work and go to the Smartstart dealer and have them take the lockout off. Tho went on to a while. Should've taken it out right then. The reason I'm writing this review is for something that has happened this week. I went and stopped for an ice cream at a local ice cream stand. Rinsed my mouth out prior to starting my vehicle. Blew into my devise and it immediately locked me out. 72 hr count down. Shocked at what was happening I rinsed again. Same thing happened. Rinsed a third time and it passed me. So with in 2 minutes tho devise realized I wasn't drinking or impaired to drive. Unfortunately being locked out means I would be charged 50$. I call immediately the 1-800 number because it I after business hours. They tell me to talk to the Massachusetts Smartstart office. Calling the office I encounter that they do not care that within 2 minutes my readings are now zero. Horrible experience with a company I trusted. I explain to them that it was ice cream and with in 2 minutes my readings were back to 0 and they seemed more concerned about me paying them the 50$. Tho is people lives that are being toyed with. A 2$ ice cream just became a 52$ ice cream. Now the Massachusetts RMV thinks I blew a positive reading when in fact it was ICE CREAM!!!!!!. On second note I asked the wonderful lady I was speaking with to send me a list of foods or non alcoholic drinks that would set this device off and her response was " We dont have one " Baffling really that a company who sells a device that picks up alcohol hasn't researched what else it may pick up. Does that sound like a customer caring company ? My main concern is the lack of caring with the Smartstart company. These are peoples lives we are talking about. I haven't had an alcoholic beverage in 5 1/2 years and now it looks to the Massachusetts RMV I have. Thanks Smartstart.

I looked for an open Smart Start office on Saturday, 6/27/2020, on my cell phone since the one i visited in Plano, TX was closed. I found one in Frisco, TX, on Eldorado (which is also a Kwik Start. It showed open until 3pm. When i arrived at 2:15pm and spoke w/ a very nice, young woman (with a nose ring), she advised the Smart Start tech had gone home.

I called Smart Start; reached a woman in sales who stated she could not help me at all unless it was a sales matter even though I only wanted to know where there was an open Smart Start store. I then went in on Monday, 6/29/2020, and Allen at the Plano, TX, Smart Start store told me .... regardless that my cell clearly showed (and he had no interest in seeing what i'd pulled up on it or in trying to contact a manager) what I explained to him … his advice was to contact Corporate and that I am contractually bound and, due to this, he could not help.

This is nonsense even though there is no Corporate to speak of .... just a confusing, long voicemail system. I am not asking for a refund, only that others realize that if you consider Smart Start, they won't honor errors on their part. They, if one is a current customer, treat you like an average Joe yet, if you try to reach Sales and consider becoming a customer, you can reach them immediately.

My point is they did the wrong thing; used poor judgement and essentially told me 'Sorry, we are not to blame for misinforming you online about when we close & we will charge you $50.00 additional anyway.' They're, in this sense, not an honest company. Again, Smart Start will treat you average rather than as a customer who, when something doesn't go right based on Smart Start's own info, they'll simply say 'Sorry, you're wrong.'

BUYER BEWARE of Smart Start. Smart Still does not do the right thing & shows poor character.

First interlock ignition was installed in a chevrolet malibu 1998 , the malibu got wrecked and this is now installed in a honda odyssey 1998. i seem to get locked out for no apparent reason whatsoever i follow instructions! still to no avail i get an autolock almost everyday i go get the 4 day auto lock fixed by paying 55 dollars a pop.

later that night i will have violated almost as if someone is remotely violating the device and putting malware in it!, also ive noticed a change in equipment from last vehicle to the honda odyssey im in, the box that hooks up to the ignition and battery seems to have three other box type amenities added on and what looks like some kind of modem with wifi bluetooth capability!,

this is alarming cause right when this installation happens my phone account has gone haywire and i get locked out of registering my phone and someone else registers as me and takes full control of my ( my verizon account), they should call it not your my verizon account.this assailent individual begins adding lines on my phone plan and enableing parental controls such as (gps tracking) ,( family tracking and creates a family share plan!,) ( i never signed up for any of it!!!,) ( im single , not married, and dependent on nobody also im a 30 year old grown white male!

not a teenager or a kid!!!!!!.) ( it seems someone or some third party is hacking my device and phone allowing me to be filmed when they deem neccasary by camera!,( as someone told me they can watch me live on camera on the internet)!and also tell the device when i should blow and in worst case scenarios put me in vio lock without me violating!!!!, ive spent over $600$ dollars alltogether fixing these vio locks when i never violated all because im on a family sharing plan illegally with my phone carrier verizon and their pretending im some kind of infant or kid!

once again im 30!,) ( sounds like a d**n human trafficking human identity control scheme to bankrupt u and have u kidnapped?!!!!!.) ( i want complete reimbersement for every violock payment, i want damages in civil rights violations, damages in health , greif from every angle my health has been totally affected from this family sharring plan working with smart start scheme to vio lock me and bankrupt me and have me kidnapped through enabeling family tracking and gps.

i can only imagine how many individuals are involved in abusing my life through fraud , greed , and saddistic morale!. please anyone out their help any lawyer before this machine like operation to kill me kills me!, im Alexander Morella age 30 white , 165 lbs i have a bit of hair im 5 /11 and a half inches . im in Delaware County Pennsylvania! (Drexel Hill), please help respond to this post !!,

any civil rights, litigation , federal court lawyers and i will contact you!, plus the smart start website available to me is from 2016 not 2019, the customer support is disgusting the two bit tech team analyst called me a conspiracy theorist!!, now is that professional!!??, verizon wireless, Smartstartinc.com and whoever is on this family sharing plan have turned into a huge human trafficking , human G.P.S ing machine from hell i wouldnt even be surprised if they installed a bomb in my car at this point!, why are my town and these companies pairing to destroy me s****.>

I have had a lots of issues with their eqipment. It never really worked as it should. Get ready for extra uber and towing expenses if you would be dumb enought to choose them !

I forgot they hve been charging me extra fines ever since installed today it went further i have been unpluging device like getting out from driving my car it went into violock with out counting down 2 min restart frirst they said asked for test basacally were calling me a lier there system doesent make mistakes bull hockey i told them last month i was unplugging it everytime i gpt out of car and guess what happened today when i turned off my car waiting to unplug iuit went into lock out with out starting 2 min count down as soon as i turned off engine thinks tahats a concidence works on wi fi they can make it wirelessly fail like it did to me when i told the it wont happen again because i will unplug so cant send signal failuer to tk test as they kept using as excuse for vio lock out

I had installed in oct 10 of 2017./since then violocked me out 7 times in first month first time 2 hrs after install then every month at 3rd week just before time to recalibrate .they r rude. talkkes at least 1 hr or more to reach by phone cant reach local phone number supose to cost $70.00 a month for service but cost with it constantly vio locking me extra $53.00 totaling $123.00 a month have read same complaints all over usa with same results go to motech they have 85% excelant6 rating by customers same price for monthly calibration fee but only 35.oo if locked out plus they will give u code over phone so u dont only have 4 days to go pay extra $53.00

I have had my smart start interlock for almost five years. the first year i was having problems with it didnt think about it. Month after month and year after year i have had violations that werent right,had to have my truck towed twice. the lastest is i blew into the machine and started it. i drove 4 b;lock to work. i pulled into my parking space and it went off. I reached for it and nocticed that it had a violock4days before i blew. Now with these guys i have been stranded with out a truck for days and thet tell me to dispute the charge well my emails are never answered the Only time i got money back is when i video taped the machine acting up. At christmas the unit was crackling i called and the lady asked me if the unit was smoking. Also when i blow into it first time in the morning it always saids abort tamper. So i called the shop i deal with and they are going to swap out the unit head no this make 21 units in my truck in 4 1/2 years. i think these things are rigged to give violations so they can keep you on longer. any one else have these problems?

Smart start is charging fraudulent fees. As well as when my device had a recall notice I was accidentally told by a smart start employee that after a year it is common for their devices to do this and it needed to be fixed at my expense as well I had other issues with this company after the recall info above. I am battling with them now and am positive that they fraud people out of money all the time. I warn you DO NOT use this company. They are kind and gentle as long as you pay they are demons once the issues start. I am in current need of a lawyer it's that bad. I wish I would have know their disquesting practices before I ever used them!!!
