Sinners Hot Rods Reviews

  • Oct 8, 2015

Sinner Hot Rods, based in Seymour Indiana, advertises itself as a custom Hot Rod / Rat Rod builder. The owner is Joshua Alvey. I saw one of their cars on display at the SEMA car show in Las Vegas three years ago. Impressed with their car, I contacted Joshua about building a custom Hot Rod for my company as a promotional vehicle for shows and events.

He seemed like a knowagable guy who had all the answers to my questions. The total cost of the car would be $33,000. Josh told me to start a build, they require 1/3 of the quoted price up front to hold a spot in their production scheduale. He sent a contract outlining every thing he told me on the phone. We sent him a check for $13,000.00 in May of 2014 to start our order process. He informed us they had a number of builds ahead of my car so would probably take 6 to 9 months before they start our build. When they start our build, he would need another $10,000 and the final payment when we come to inspect and pick up the car.

This past June we get a call from Josh with good news that he is ready to start the build of our car. He informed me the engine and other components are on order and should be ready to start as soon as he gets our second check. We sent a second check out to him about a week after his call for $10,000. After he cashed our second check he e-mailed me to say that he could not wait around for my second check, so he had to start another car ahead of ours. When I called him to question this move only got an answering machine, after repeated messages left on his answering machine I never heard back from him again. He would post on his Face Book page pictures of his builds, but after doing really looking at his photos it seems he re posting old pictures of cars he built years ago and acting like they are a current builds.

I contacted the Seymour Police last week to be told I am one of long line of people he has defrauded. All they could advise was to contact the Indiana Attorney General and a lawyer, which we did. His phone has been disconnected and he does not answer e-mails or Face Book messages. I intend to take every step to get my money back and this guy is exposed for what he is a con man.
