Security Force

We were offered a GE service on the phone, and were told we could install it, but had a certain time to cancel it. I was also told that all windows were covered, etc. As soon as they installed it, we realized that windows were not covered by the system. We told him that it is not what we agreed too. The installer said he would come back to pick up equipment. My husband got it on the phone and told them that he did not want the system and that we would cancel it. In fact, I thought we had just signed that the system had been installed? Anyway, the sales guy kept calling trying to sell us on it and tweak the system to suit us. We said no thank you. We called well within the time to cancel the service and got directions to do so and sent it that day. We started getting bills. We told them we were not supposed to be getting bills, that we cancelled. They said that the were a monitoring system. They were Guardian and that Security Force would not allow them to cancel the service. That Guardian just does billing and monitoring services. The damn alarm kept going off during storms. It ruined my husband's hearing. We had to call again after tornado warning so I unplugged the damn thing and had to get directions to keep if from going off. They instructed me to remove the battery. We called them and told them to pick up the damn equipment. What took them so long picking it up. They said that are letter was post dated a day late? And that they would not cancel the service without a fee. I instructed them they will be sued. Do not ever answer the phone for one of these security companies offering free equipment and installation. They posed themselves initially as GE. Then showed up as Security Force. It is a fraud.

After noticing several non-local missed telephone calls from this company, my mother decided to call the number back. This was a Friday afternoon and the company was Security Force in Raleigh, North Carolina offering their home security services in her subdivision. After lying and telling my mother that SF was part of GE, she said to call her on the following Monday, which is when she will have made up her mind.

My mother is registered with creditkarma.com and received an email from the site concerning a hard credit inquiry. It was from Security Force which illegally ran and accessed her credit report one day after speaking with her over the telephone. My mother never gave this company her social security number or date of birth and do not understand how it obtained her personal information. Obviously, the company is buying this data online from some third party. However, it is illegal to obtain a person's social security number and use it without their permissible or authorization. This is a federal offense and there was not even a telephone discussion about credit.

My mother called the SF office in Raleigh and told a receptionist why she was calling. She was told that a Mr. Jenkins would call her back, however never did. Instead, the inquiry was mysteriously removed from her Equifax report. However, it was too little, too late. I had already taken a screenshot of the inquiry and legal action will be taken against Security Force.

This is a warning to everyone who receives a telephone call from this company. If you do not already have credit monitoring, get it and protect yourself from identity thieves such as Security Force.
