I am in the process of having a website built for my business. I received a email on or around October 12, 2016 that my website was ready to be presented to the world. It stated that I only needed to choose which package I wanted:Bronze, Gold etc. The Bronze was the least expensive so I choose that. I was under the impression that it was something that my web builder had set up.
When I consulted my web builder he stated that he did not set that up. He stated that he received a phone call from the same people (he believed) and he told them that he was not interested. I then canceled this membership. Search Engine Started Up responded by saying they cancelled my service, but since I had already paid, my business would be advertised for the next 30 days.
Search Engine Start Up then attach the business name of which I was using and had purchased for my website to some other designs that was not mind. They therefore made it impossible for me to use that name.
I do state that Search Engine Start Up is truly a scammer on the internet and I caution others to be aware of them. Their site do not list any phone number nor physical contact address.
Thanks for the feedback on this SEARCH ENGINE START UP... I'm always wary of any calls like that & especially since starting a new business I've gotten too many scam calls. ALWAYS CHECK who you deal with or give info to.....
Same thing, received a call giving me code #4173 for a discount and what not. I went online to try to figure out what's going on... thank you! Good to know it is a scam, I thought Google had sent this to me when I registered our domain. Any new business starter will fall into it, and they know it!
Just created a website a few days ago, today I was sent a text message from this weird 256 area code phone number asking me to go to www.searchenginestartup.com & use a promo code 4173 to save $99. The text further stated that I needed to act quickly because something about needing to register my website to a search engine.. I then called the number from my text inbox and a weird recording came on said something very quickly and hung up on me. I began to search the internet for scams related to this and found this page, last post was back in 2010. But be aware 7 years later they're still up to it. This has scam written all over it. Don't be a victim..
I received a call after ordering some business cards, setting up a new website, and i received a call to be listed in all the search engines with a link and a jump page to my website, and i was supposed to design the info jump page with pics of jobs my company logo and contact info. i sent a form that i was given to help the design guys come up with a draft but never received anything back, and i also have not been listed in search engines at all
I started receiving phone calls from search engine startup.com after I made my Google account for Google Places. They either got my number there or from hostgator.com. When I realized it was a scam I told them not to call back. They have called back several times. Mostly automated systems calling me. A guy named David will not give me his last name. When asked for his last name he laughed and hung up. I am going to try to file criminal charges for harassment against the company since I have off today using their automated system and also told them in person not to call my phone again. They called from illinoise number, California number, and a Texas number.
Typical robocall about needing to register and index my recently completed website. However, i have a free and easy app that came with my hosting fee and it’s listed everywhere just fine. They don’t even give you an option to try free for 1 month or so before committing. Instead, they state the total fee to get started as $329.99, including the 1st month fee of $29.99 and give you a $300 discount code. I decided to see what was up with the so-called promotion and tried to enter the discount code the robocall gave me, 7141, but it said incorrect code. All i know is i developed my own site, did my own seo and used the available app i had to list it everywhere and i’m already ranked in google search results in 1 week. Just create your website index file and submit to google and you’ve already done 85% of the necessary listings. Bing and yahoo have little relevance these days, so don’t sweat it. Search engine startup is a total scam for unsuspecting people they blanket robocall.

This company has called me using a robo dialer daily for the last week. It used the called id 618-355-1134.
There is no way to stop the call until it hangs up on me. Other reports on the web indicate that it is a scam.
yet another call from searchengine
