SCOUT @ Quarters D Reviews

Do not hire this "Designer" or "Design" Company. They fall way short! The fact that they call themselves designers is a true misrepresentation.

I hired Paul Silvera the owner of Scout Home Design to stage one of my properties prior to marketing it for sale. This is a new construction property (1745 W Montecito in San Diego) luxury modern with high end finishes. When I first met Paul at the property which was a day or two after I contacted him he was very arrogant and a bit dismissive. I asked a few questions and he took it as if I was asking for free design advice. He said, and i quote "once you've signed the contract and paid your deposit I'm all yours" I should've seen the red flag and moved on right there and then. Unfortunately I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The following week I cut him a check which he picked up the same day and we were off. Paul Silvera all of a sudden becomes unresponsive, too busy, missed our walk through appointment to discuss furniture, agreed to send pictures and never did only to retract and pull the "I don't work like that card".

I then tried to fire him, but he wouldn't give me my money back. He convinced me that it would all be ok, that he was a pro and I should let him do his job.

Then came staging day and the bad dream really turned into a nightmare. No art work as promised. Only an excuse that the artist didn't want to display his/her art in our house because it wouldn't sell. THE DAY OF! I can understand if someone doesn't want to display art in my house, but the day of??? So to add insult to injury he brought 100% beach art, life guard tower, sail boats, nautical accessories. Total design chaos. Its not a beach house, Its a modern home in an urban neighborhood. The furniture was an eclectic mix of things compiled over decades, Basically a bunch old, worn furniture mixed with a few new cheap pieces. Nothing was to scale and nothing matched the style of the home. My contract says I have the right o send anything back. Which is exactly what I tried doing and Paul Silvera fired himself. He said he didn't have what we wanted. He also agreed to give us a refund.

Its been over 2 months since that day. It took a month and a half to remove the furniture. Wouldn't return phone calls, emails, or text messages. Still hasn't refunded our money. He claimed to have an attorney that I've never heard from to this day.

I'm taking the time to write this review to hopefully help others avoid a really crappy experience. Uploading pictures of the furniture Paul Silvera provided. We're going to file suit for cost+damages+attorneys fees.
