Schmidt & Sohns Logistics LLC Reviews

  • Oct 5, 2019

The company named Schmidt and sons out of Danville California - and Bakersfield California is not good, read on.

After many conversations with the owner Thomas Schmidt stating they respect and believe in decency and fairness with their drivers as they do in his home country of Germany - I bought it and agreed to work for them. In all honesty it was refreshing to here someone actually gets what it takes to keep good drivers. It turns out they are pathological liars, lacking good judgement and use threats and verbal abuse to get you to drive for them. The reason they do this is to get you to drive their unsafe trucks run out of an "out of the garage" type business. It makes no sense not to keep a truck in safe driving condition, small stuff you can let slide but sending out truck with no trailer brakes is just plain, hmm - find the word to describe - nuts. Like what is wrong with you?

They put me into a truck with no trailer brakes and a trailer bumper ready to fall off. I was told the POS driver that had it before abused the truck so badly they had to replace all brake pads and drums because of his driving. I was also told the POS driver backed into something and tore the trailer bumper up. Down the road it was obvious the trailer bumper was going to fall off. Schmidt and Sons informed me I could not fix it or the brakes until I made it back to California. With fear of the bumper falling off and killing a motorist I bent the bumper back and forth until I broke it off. I did not take much effort.

I have most of this verifiable in text messages between myself and the company. If you need any explanations about what I have reported here - please contact me through the Pensacola Craigslist relay and I will get back to you.

I figured out in a few minutes the reason the tractor brakes needed replacing was the trailer had no brakes. When I hook up to a trailer I engage the manual trailer brake lever to insure I have the trailer - nothing. I told them I would not drive the truck because it was unsafe. I was told "I'm tired of you primidona's refusing to drive the truck. I was fired. I was in California and was told to find my own way home since I would not drive their truck. I didn't have the money to get home so I drove the truck with safety in the forefront of my mind.

99% of what I was told of the position was false. After going against what he stated in the hiring process on several issues I called him on it - he told me I was unable to get along with people and if your going to be like this I don't want you working for me. I told him I agreed and that I would not be able to work with and left his employ that day after working with him for two weeks.

Right now he has not paid me for loads delivered and will not return calls or emails or texts.

I also listened to Thomas Schmidt and his fleet manager tell me numerous conspiracy theory's including UFO's and Total government collusion in certain governmental incidence's including 911. I'm from the Midwest and thought they were - insane. In all honesty the fleet manager and Thomas Schmidt live quite far from reality in all they do and say. It's not just hiring it's integrated into their day to day operations. It was a bit unnerving to be exposed to those people with no real grip on the reality using every negative aspect of humanity to deal with employees. This may sound prejudiced and is but it is based on my experience with them.

The bumper had been bent and twisted up many years ago and rust and missing bolts made it unsafe to continue as it was. It had not been damaged in many years.

With the threat of termination I drove the tuck to the east coast with a light load. Drove it back to phoenix with a light load and then was dispatched with a 43k load and told to run the grapevine without any trailer brakes.

Of course using common sense and slow speeds I did make it ok. I will tell you this however - it was the first time in 15 years of driving I ever prayed I'd complete a trip. I'm not kidding.

Also, going that slow down a mountain is dangerous to all around me and trucks had to dodge me due to my slowness down hill.

There have been times in my life I've met people whom I could not understand thinking wise - but this company takes the cake for total losers concerning being able to run a business nor have any sort of normal thought process.

Perhaps I am the one that is insane and not them. I don't think so -

I know they hired another driver out of Pensacola - if you know them have them contact me.
