Santander Consumer USA Inc. Reviews

I purchased my vehicle and paid for an extended warranty and Gap insurance. Financed the vehicle under a different company that ended up being bught out by another company and at the end owned by Santander.

My vehicle was stolen so I called Santander to let them know and asked what Gap coverage did they sale me so I can make a claim, they said they do not see it on my file and even if I did buy it they are now out of business.

I said I did buy it at the same time of the extended warranty they said we dont see that you have an extended warranty I said yes you sold it to me and I have used it several times on my car. They said well send us proof I said you never sent me the paper work on my gap and extended warranty so how am i able to prove it.

I told them I refuse to pay them a dime as I paid for Gap coverage and have proof of the extra amount charged, I said if i didnt pay it then what is this extra fee, they said we dont know. I said how much is your extended warranty and how much for your gap the prices they gave me were the same extra fee i paid.

No common sense, nothing but rude unhelpful people. To this day I have not paid them any extra it sits on my credit report and when i apply for a loan i have to explain and they say im sorry that happen to you, we will approve you for your loan request. Shady Shady Santander. Stick to your credit unions even if Santandar offers u a lower interest rate, you will pay in the end.

I was told interests rate of 24% and after looking through the paperwork that they sent in the mail and just rages over 34% and these people are terrible people to do business with. They rip you off what their interests rates. The close your account and put it as you requested the account to be closed. They must be so bad that the company they were doing business with their no longer doing credit business with them anymore. It was through ABC warehouse

In October of 2013, I purchased a mid size SUV from Carmax, with Santander providing the loan. A year after that I filed bankruptcy. When I filed bankruptcy, the lian was not apart of the bankruptcy. Santander cut off access to my online account and they stopped sending bills to show payments and my balance. They have made it very difficult to work with them on the loan. Every time I ask for these things they tell me that I had enough help when I filed bankruptcy. I do not know how much I have left on the loan and there is no summary of paymentsunami. This issues have been causing stress because the car gets repossessed.

You had a tow company come get our car when we talked to you guys this past Wednesday. We told you that we was at the hospital with our son because of his Leukodystrophy and you guys know this. We've even told you this in the past. Our son has to do OT, PT, SST, and other forms of therapy. His Neurologist, Pediatrician, and medical staff can prove this. Not only that I talked to you guys myself via my cell phone and told you what's going on.

Even told you guys about his medication and you will have your tow truck guy sneaking around my property, going through my garage when he had NO legal right doing with the car was in the driveway. Not only that we have car seats in our vehicle and by law we are allowed to get them out if we have two small children. I've looked it up already and found that out. Our son's appointment is the 11th of this month and we need our vehicle that was wrongfully stolen from us. We told you guys when we could pay you and you wanted to say not to worry about it because you were making a note about it and you even pushed our payment to June 9th of this year.

Whenever we do talk to you all you do is hang up on us or you get rude and yell obscenities towards my wife and then you hang up on her. When she tries to call you answer the phone and once you find out who you are talking to, you hang up and you do this over and over. So when I call you do the samething while the whole time both me and my wife keep calm and keep it respectful with you and that even includes after you threatening us.Plus their tow truck guy chipped our windshield

My husband and I had a vehicle loan through JJ Best Banc which was bought by Sovereign which was taken over by Santander.

The loan was paid in full as of October 2015 and we have been trying sine then to get a title. Santander states they have no record of this loan (despite us having payment statements to the contrary) and refuses to help us. Now we have to start over again trying to get a title through the FDIC and DMV which we have been told will take over 3 months. This will mean more than NINE MONTHS in total to get a title on a vehicle loan that shows NO MISSED PAYMENTS, NO LATE PAYMENTS.

So, basically good customers = no value to Santander.

Add another kick to the teeth - there were $2k in overpayments taht we made that I'm sure we can also kiss goodbye.

Our Kia Soul was financed through Santander. What we thought was a payoff in July 2015 and the possession of a clear title (no lien holder). ended up with a tow truck in my driveway last night (around 3:00 am).

Not only were we woke from a peaceful sleep but my landscape and driveway damaged. The tow truck driver was not surprised by this company but had already experienced a wrongful repo with a person that had paid his truck off, 6 years went by and Santander ordered a repo.

Now I have to worry about another company coming to my house and taking my car. The driver also said that the state probably still showed a lien holder but Santander is not even showing on our credit report. Help!

SANTANDER CONSUMER

I purchased a vehicle through CarMax financed through Santander Consumer at a high interest rate for a 2009 Kia Rondo for 72 months. My hours were cut on my job and work was slow for my son so we called to make some sort of arrangements with Santander. Their arrangements were to put off payments for 3 months. In the mean while, I became ill with a brain tumor and asked them if they had disability insurance for the account and they said no. The late charges and interest charges were astronomical. Being sick and my son and myself became discouraged having to pay all the added charges. They utimately repossessed the car and sold it for $3,300 and stated that we owed them $11,636.03 for the vehicle in which the most of it is taxes and fees. I don't feel we should have to pay all that money when they have the vehicle and it should not compromise my son's new credit. I became ill and was going through a bad times and made a bad decision dealing with Carmax and Santander. Normally in the past, I would research company's record but I was in a desperate situation, renting a moldy home, transmission went out on my 2010 Chevy Silverado, and I was having health problems thinking about how I would ge back and forth to work. I was trying to maintain an income to continue to work and move to a new place and my time was limited on finding a vehicle. In a time of life's stresses, I was caught off guard and got stuck with an evil predatory lender. Initially I started out paying them for the first 2 years of the loan. Furthermore, I would think that it is fair for them to charge me for the attorney fees of $297.60 and vehicle retaking fee of $600.00, but the access cost of $10,738.43 is ridiculously outrageous and predatory. I feel they should be prosecuted for their unfair lending practices. Also, I would like for my son new credit not to be effected by this Evil practicing company.

Santander Consumer brought Citi Auto loans my contract that I signed and agree to was 72 months for 372.66 I was Late maybe 1 or 2 times was charged 6.00 late charges that Added up to 180.00 I reported them to the BBB which didn't do any good along with a lot of other people did and Santander gave most everybody the same reason to why we still owe that much more and the BBB said the issue was Answed and closed the cases. There is no way that if you are Late a few times or even have a few payments moved to the end there is no way that I would have to pay for 81 months But I paided it and got my title a few weeks later, someone Really needs to investigate this company.
