Sandy Pines Investments LLC was to produce a loan in the amount of $10 million USD for my startup company. During talks with one of their "brokers" a man named Robin William, I was told I needed to only pay this small doc fee and they would handle the rest. After I paid the doc fee, their CFO, a man whom would never identify himself said I would need to pay for an insurance policy against the loan. I told him that I agreed with him but was unable to procure the amount needed, $100,000 USD. We then negotiated for a while and he finally said that he would do the loan if I paid $20,000. I wasn't opposed to this so I asked them to provide proof of funds along with their brokerage license to verify everything was legal before I sent larger amounts of money.
Sandy Pines Investments LLC, Robin William then proceeded to send me a fraudulent account statement from Chase Bank. I confirmed this with a local branch and they said they would be investigating their relationship with their client. After I called them out on this he sent me another fraudulent statement, this time from TD Bank. This one was worse than the first. Again, confirmed by the bank the statement was false.
I informed Sandy Pines Investments LLC via formal email that I was requesting a refund of my $4,200 payment and they've refused, stating that the refund would be paid at the end of the loan if I made the payment of $20,000 USD.
Their information on Sunbiz.org is tied to multiple companies, some of which are still active and others dissolved. Their Document number is L14000094426.
It is my belief that Sandy Pines Investments LLC is doing their best to defraud individuals and companies under the guise of false promises, which I understand is a felony in all 50 States. My matter however for such a small amount doesn't warrant police involvement but I would like to make you aware of their company practices with the hope it doesn't happen to another individual or company.
