WARNING! Do not stay here until Bob and Sherry McPhee leave! I have lived here at the park in an apartment for over a year with no real problems until the past month. Bob has made numerous racist comments about black people and Sherry told me she had someone kicked out for appearing to be a homosexual. The unit is only about 300 sq ft., go somewhere else.
It all started when I first moved in. My mother came to visit as she lives 3 hours away. Sherry got on to my mom for walking the dog in the park. She told my mom to walk her outside of the park and to stay away from other dogs because they were not friendly. She said that if my dog got attacked, it would be our fault, not the other dogs for being aggressive. I have a little Boston Terrier that would not hurt a flea, and I always walk her on a leash.
I have had a few problems with the apartment such as a sewage smell emanating from somewhere in the place. The drain lines from the neighbors and my unit go up on a slant, this causes sewage to back up and my place to smell of feces. The whole park smells of it on occasion. Whenever I have a had a problem, Sherry is like talking to a brick wall and you cannot get your point across.
My electricity really sucks and pops the breakers all of the time. I can't even run a two burner hot plate with the fan going or it pops. Really sucks in the winter with no heat or summer with no ac. while cooking.
The water heater is only 10 gallons. Makes it rather hard to get a good shower before it turns cold. Plus there is open space under my unit that allows cold wind and rain to permeate the bottom, thus causing major condensation problems and keeping the place cold in the winter.
Recently my mother took a traveling job and had to stay with me until she started work. Sherry checked with the park owners and had it okayed. My mother's job got changed and her time with me extended. Sherry wanted my mom to sign an addendum to the lease and raise my rent. My mother encouraged me to find a bigger place, which I agreed with.
Well Sherry was being completely obnoxious towards my mother the whole time she was here. My mother went out to walk my dog and Sherry approached her being hostile. My mother told her that we were looking elsewhere and continued to walk away. When my mother came back, Sherry accosted her again being rather rude. My mother reiterated to her that we were going somewhere else. Sherry told her to leave by today. I looked out of the window and saw that Sherry was giving my mother a hard time.
When she got back in I asked "what was that about?" because I knew it wasn't good. She said that Sherry got very irate with her after she told her that we were looking elsewhere and to leave. My mom told her that we would be out by the first of the month and Sherry said that if we did not give 30 days notice that she would keep the deposit. My mother said no, he will stay to get that money back.
I singed a piece of paper giving my 30 days notice to Sherry. She said that my mother was screaming and hollering at her. I told her what I saw from my apartment and then she changed it and said that my mom couldn't stay because she was belittled in front of another tenant. All my mother said was "fine, we are looking elsewhere." It was 11 am and she gave me until noon to have my mother out and would not let me sign and addendum to my lease. Her reason was because I had just given my 30 days notice. So my mother left without causing a scene.
My mother's permanent address is in Tn. so she had her mail forwarded here. Sherry got mad and left a note on my mother's mail telling her to change her address. This is my place and I can accept anyone's mail that I choose to. We did change it though because this woman is unreasonable.
I have had unwanted sexual comments from Sherry also. She has made lewd comments referring to sex to me a few times. She has hugged on me and grabbed both of my nipples and twisted them. This made me rather uncomfortable but I did not want to piss her off because I knew that she would cause me problems.
Last night I was walking my dog, Sherry stopped me on the way back. I knew that either she or her husband was out there because I could smell the stench of their cigarettes. She told me to "walk my dog during the day." I told her that I would walk my dog anytime I choose to and continued walking away. She said "oh you're going to be like that huh?" She said "I am going to make your life a living hell until you leave." I told her that she already was. She then said "F*** you!" I said do not cuss me. She then said "F*** you motherf***er!" I told her that I wanted the owner's phone number to report what had transpired.
I found the the owner's phone number and gave Maria Sanborn a phone call. Her husband answered and I told him what had happened. He asked what had caused Sherry to do this and if I was following the rules. I said yes. Stay away!
