RV Kountry Reviews

  • Dec 2, 2019

On 15 June 2017 I purchased a 2003 Rexair by Rexhall, a 40' diesel pusher for $ 35,000.00 from RV Kountry. The fair market value in 2017 was $ 25K plus $ 10K in repairs overprices the RV by $ 20K.

RV Kountry advertises on their website incorrect consignment prices of RVs sold. In my case it is $ 54,860.00 more than the RV sold for, which is very misleading for sellers looking to sell their RV on consignment. They do not net what they are led to believe.

The sticker on the RV labelled it a 2004 when it is actually a 2003 vehicle.

Besides a filing fee of $ 450.00 the dealer also charged me a $ 285.00 administration fee twice (2x) which increased the sales price by $ 302.10 with tax on the day of pick-up on 6/29/2017.

As per original sales contract a PDI (Pre-delivery inspection), detailing and a walk-through were to be conducted. The PDI was supposed to be a thorough inspection to ensure the motor home is in top mechanical and operational condition. Normally a PDI involves the initial inspection, all maintenance and repairs, as well as the follow-up inspection.

Company owner Everett Henkel III and sales consultant Katy Grajek did not provide a warranty but repeated verbal guarantees that the RV was in excellent condition and reliable because they knew the previous owners. Mr. Henkel promised he was dealing with integrity and that he prides himself on his honest reputation.

No defects were disclosed at all. Two existing recalls and that the manufacturer is out of business were not disclosed either. No owner's manual was provided.

RV Kountry delayed the pickup of the motor home for a week due to repairs which were never done. There was no opportunity to test drive due to the holiday weekend and sure enough, within an hour of leaving the dealership the motor home broke down. After only 50 miles road side assistance had to replace the alternator. From that moment on I discovered more and more obvious defects and neglect.

The left front blinker light was not working, neither were several LED lights. Those and other never repaired items like the starter and the generator had to be replaced/serviced at my expense although RV Kountry claims their mechanic had done it.

RV Kountry exchanged the advertised full size refridgerator for a cheap small fridge which is a loss of convenience and value of $ 2000.00. The front A/C, kitchen cabinets, window coverings, stereo speakers, sleep number bed, batteries, entrance lock and automatic steps were defective from day one. Decorative moulding, light bulbs, and the roof cover over the fridge were missing.

At pickup the staff disclosed that there was no cigarette lighter, but really the entire electric harness was missing, which made it impossible to install the GPS. Some defects were purposely hidden by gluing the mirror and windshield wipers which of course did not hold and they flew off right away while driving.

The windshield also cracked within a couple of days for unknown stress reasons (nothing hit the windshield). We had ongoing problems starting the diesel motor till 2019 when we bypassed the ignition wiring. There were several rain water leaks as well as toilet and gray water leaks. There was mold and mildew in the coach and storage compartment.

I presented the invoices for about $ 10,000.00 with pictures and description to the company owner Everett who just responded that he sold the unit in good faith and that I was happy with it which I never was and reported. Please help and inform public, thanks. I am not an isolated case.
