As soon as the movers came to my apartment the main mover, a 33-year-old man, pulled me aside and asked me to sign the paperwork. He had already added on an extra hundred dollars because he said he needed three men instead of two and that it would take extra time. He had just walked into my apartment and the hundred dollars was already on the paperwork, he proceeded to tell me that I only listed 13 items and showed me the paperwork with the items checked, I have a one bedroom plus loft apartment.
There were two other workers with the manager in charge, a young black man, I believe he told me his age was 23. He was very lazy he kept on asking my nephew to help him telling him it was because we had more than what was told to move. When they took my couch out from the loft and tried to take it out the front door, he informed me that he could not take it because it does not fit through the door.
I told him it came in the door and that it will go out the door. I was busy doing other things when the couch was moved out of the apartment and did not notice the technique that was used.I didn't see that each side of the couch and some of the back was torn.
The main guy in charge asked me if he was takping the room divider which was a canvas 6 feet tall three panel of the Beatles, it's worth is approximately $250, I told him no I wanted to take that because it was very delicate. He told me that it will be OK he would take care of it. I saw it laying on the grass outside of my new apartment. when I was unpacking the next day I noticed that the cavas / picture on the divider was all smeared on one of the panels on one of the sides and it was also smeared along the top of the divider. The colors were all running down the panel.
i was told they could not move an 8 foot piece of furniture I had in my loft apartment. I had to leave it. It was one of three pieces. Also they picked up a piece of, what looked like a tv stand from the loading dock that was left behind from the mover before them and when I told them it wasn't mind, he asked me if I would take it back tomorrow to my old apartment! And I did, this was before his last remark to me.
Doing the whole process of the move from the minute the main guy saw me he started flirting. Telling me I was beautiful and that he would like to take me out. I told them I had a boyfriend. That didn't stop him, every time he saw me in passing he gave me a look and continue to ask me out. My sister and my nephew are witnesses.
At the end of the move, which, by the way did not take an extra hour as he told me, the main guy asked me to sign and rate their service, while I was reading, he asked me again go out with him, I firmly said to him NO, and he responded, "I bet you are good to n bed". I was so put out that I didn't know what to say. I filled out the form giving all 5's just to get out of there and since he stood there while I filled it out I was very uncomfortable. It was disgusting behavior and a very poor unprofessional busines.
