I was ripped off big time by this joke of a company and its owner Genny Pavitt. I hired her to renovate a small studio and the agreed-upon time was 6 weeks This was crucial as I had to be out of my old apartment by then and after 7 months the botched job wasn't even close to being done. I had huge expenses in alternative housing and all the while she didn't give a sh*t because she needed to work on her own house. That included scamming me by taking me to her suppliers, charging me double and using the difference to pay for her own floors. She then stole the remaining materials from my apartment. THE ENTIRE APARTMENT HAD TO BE GUTTED AND REDONE!
Her workers smoked so much weed I got an eviction letter from my co-op and they lost my keys after I replaced the locks. Nothing was built to code, there was no electrical outlet in the bathroom, poorly placed outlets throughout and she was verbally abusive throughout the entire project!
She designed the kitchen and refused my input. She put a 24 inch stove in a huge kitchen because she has no idea what she is doing. When you walk into the apartment you can not move forward because the kitchen cabinets were blocking the entrance. You opened the front door and then had to shimmy sideways to enter. Every single person said its the worst design they ever saw in their life.
When deliveries arrived I was responsible at 54 years old to bring much of the marble and tiles in myself as she was never there to accept delivery. The job was supposed to take 6 weeks and after 7 months (I run my own business and could not stay on top of her) I threw her out and she had the audacity to claim I owed her more money. They ruined numerous brand new cabinets, about $2000 of cheap Ikea cabinets had to be replaced. I did not want Ikea cabinets and she told me she ordered custom cabinets that never arrived.
They drilled a hole through the fridge panel which needed to be replaced. Not a bad thing since the panel was the wrong size even though Genny denies it. She is a pathological liar and lies about everything, The apt. was not built up to code with numerous fire violations. The windows did not open because they built the frame wrong so you cant pull them up from the lip. The closet did not open or close properly. They did not put outlets where I needed them.
The living room floors have a 6-inch slope over 285 Sq feet and that was agreed upon that when I pay for a gut renovation I required level floors. They cut the front door and it was ruined and cannot be replaced because the co-op board won't allow it. So you hear all the voices in the hall even though I paid $10,000 extra for soundproofing. The floors in the kitchen and bathroom are all coming up and will need to be redone.
She raised the price of the job in the middle for no reason other than she is a scam artist who could not pay her bills. I paid her $38,000, and other contractors a total of $45,000. That's $83,000 when it should have cost $30,000 for a 380 sq foot studio. So you have a pathological liar, a thief, a verbally abusive mess of life, stoned and incompetent workers and it was the worst business decision I ever made in my life. I am proceeding with a lawsuit now that all the work has been completed. The 6 week project took me 2.5 years.
