Solid Move

I chose to work with Sam because he made the whole process seem simple. We moved from New York to Fort Lauderdale Florida. Abraham and Alex arrived at my house in NY on time and took great care of my furniture. 5 days later I was delivered in Florida. They have a locating in Florida too and I will be using them next summer when I move back up from to NY

This company employs a bunch of crooks and con men. I was contacted by a guy called Sammy who overpromised everything - he kept on saying my guys will pick up your stuff and send it to your destination in no time - my guys are the most professional, my guys, my guys.

On the date of the scheduled relocation, his guys did not even show up. They showed up late the next day and were clueless as to what they were supposed to pick up and where to deliver it to. From the time of the delivery, Sammy or Sam disappeared. He stopped answering his calls and text messages.

Then I get a call from one of the guys who picked up my stuff saying that the cost of my move has gone up by 30% when I had asked Sam multiple times - is your estimate good enough? He said as long as your items don't change drastically, this estimate will not change by a large amount. My items remained the same, but the estimate changed.

Since Sammy was not around suddenly, another guy called Carl started calling me and asking for a 50% deposit. I had already paid 25% on signing of the contract. He now wanted 50% of the revised amount without any supporting documentation. When I refused to pay that amount, he said ok then come to pick up your stuff and hung up on me.

Minutes later he realized that he had missed out a major detail in his rip off scheme - he called back and said if you want to pick your stuff up you have to pay us 800 bucks for the work that we did on your shipment. Now I know that they picked up my stuff but 800 was too much to charge for it. When I started arguing with him on this he started shouting at me and said ok then you're not getting your stuff back. Ideal attitude for the employee of a company that provides services. I felt as if I was in a third world country.

They have crooked guys, not honoring their commitments, on top of that they are rude and demand payments within minutes to move to the next step of the process - and all this over the phone. When I suggested to come over and discuss this he had said we are far away in Rochester will you come all the way here just to talk about this and submit payment?

Is there no recourse available to a customer for the malpractice of a company like this?

Is there no law in this country that protects customers' rights without emptying their pockets?

ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE looking for a moving service, stay far, far away from Relocations R Us. They are the most unethical company I have ever come across in my life. And... they not only treated my belongings like garbage, they damaged a number of my items and doubled my estimate after they loaded my goods and held me and the goods hostage. They lied, are dishonest, uncaring and unethical. This pattern of behavior continued throughtout the most miserable moving process I could ever imagine. DO NOT SUPPOPRT A BUSINESS THAT TREATS IT's CUSTOMERS THIS WAY, THEY SHOULD BE DRIVEN OUT OF BUSINESS BY THEIR BEHAVIOR!

They quoted one price after I spent an enormous amount of time delineating items to be moved, estimating the number of boxes that were to be moved, even going so far as photographing the size of the items to be moved.

I was reassured that the price they quoted was more than adequate, however the estimate double once they loaded and had my belonging held hostage. I even paid for them to pack my goods, which was the farthest thing from packing...it was dumping and shoving things into boxes, that by the way, they didn't have enough of and had to run to Home Depot to get more of...sound professional to you?! They also did not have a hand cart or other supplies that would support a professional move. The packing service consisted of dumping drawers, etc...into boxes, they shoved the inner workings of a grandfather clock in a box to make it fit, ultimately damaging the clock, they threw stuff in wardrobe boxes, not even hanging most of the stuff, only later to find items so mangled, and damaged that they are useless at this point. I can honestly say there isn't a piece of furniture that isn't knicked or damaged as a result of this move.

I can go on and on, but what I want to stay is run...stay far away from a company that lies about being a family owned business, about where your goods are stored during transit (I like others were told Rochester and it was New Jersey), about owning a line of trucks and then having Budget Rental Trucks show up, about not being a broker when infact that is truly who they are, about background checking their employees, which they obviously don't as I had folks show up that were not in this country legally, about being an A rated company (by whom?), and getting away with the practice of bating and switiching; quoting one price and then doubling it after you are held hostage. It is beyond me how the State of NY hasn't gone after this company for it's illegal and unethical business practices.

Relocations R US is nothing but an unethical sham!

Good experience

Had a good move with these guys. They do move a little slow but i found out afterwards that is to insure they don't damage my property. Pricing was fair. I had some lower quotes but they were not an A rated company so i did not use them. Alex was they guy who picked me up and was very nice and professionally wrapped everything nicely.

How can you explain sheer disgust? I hired this company only after asking key questions. I work for a Freight company but we charge astronomical amounts of money for a move so I hired an outside agency. I thought I knew what to look for and what questions to ask.. I was SO WRONG... Even after asking the rght questions I was lied to, time and time again.. I even have email correspondonces of the lies. My main concern when hiring a Moving Company was that they didnt contract out. I didnt want to deal with the hassle of making a contract with one company then having another company pick up my belongings. They have no standard of service or true accountability so I didnt want that. I asked "Matt" the Service Represenative directly do you contract out he stated NO.

I found out later in 3 different incidents how far from the truth that was...

On the day my items were picked up I was called by the Movers who asked to speak to Matt. This was unusual because Matt was suppose to be there Boss. They called and said "Hello may we speak to Matt we are here to pick up your items". I said you mean Chantel? He repeated no were looking for Matt. I said are you the movers and he stated yes. I said okay well I am the customer who is getting her items picked up today. He sounded taken aback so I called Matt to ask what's going on? Matt said oh they are "new drivers". These men came in a Budget rental truck, they had on regular street clothes and were disorganized. They had no clue what they were doing. They dropped my belongings twice and then after they put my stuff on the truck tired to upcharge me over $800 additional. I was livid because I gave Matt all the measurements of my storage facility and discussed all my items. So we were clear on the price. I was NEVER told to bring additional money JUST IN CASE...

I called Matt to explain my anger at which time His driver went into the Office of my storage facility irate and began to question Staff. He told them to pull up my storage unit measurements and began questioning the size of my unit. He was nasty and rude to me and the Staff. Matt called and explained that it was a mistake and the driver would take my belongings without any further problems. I gave the Driver the second deposit of $454 and he bean to go off on a tangent that he was going to get in trouble for bringing back more cargo then agreed. I asked him how is that possible when I just spoke to his Boss and his Company and I was told everything was okay. He didn't leave he kept trying to get the additional money from me sighting that he would be the one who has to hear it. It wasn't making sense if he worked for the company why would he get in trouble. I asked him directly are you a outside contracted agency? He said No. I asked where are my belongings going to after this he stated to the Storage facility in New Jersey. Matt told me the company is located in Rochester NY so now I knew this was an outside agency hired and I was lied too by Relocation R Us. I tired calling Matt and he didn't answer. Eventually the Driver left with the second deposit any belonging's. The agreed contract was they would hold my stuff free of charge up to 30 days however the agreed delivery date and ONLY delivery date given and written on all my documents is August 15, 2016. A few days later I got a call from a gentleman saying he was on his way to get my belongings. I was confused my stuff was already picked up. I called Matt and of course NO ANSWER. I called the main Office and a Receptionist by the name of Nicole answered. She said it was an mistake. I explained to here that I was deeply concerned about there company and there ethic. I was assured that the Driver was remanded I told them I do NOT want him making my delivery and I confirmed we were on target for my shipment. Nicole told me not to worry and that EVERYTHING would be okay. I sent Matt an email since he was the original contact person for me explaining all the inconsistences and undue stress this has caused. He replied with an apology and told me we were on task for the date we discussed.

Today I emailed him since my delivery is Scheduled for Monday, August 15. 2016 and no one has contacted me about my shipment. His response was did I advise the Foreman of my Delivery date. Why would I need to advise anyone when you gave me the contract... I ADVISED HIM DIRECTLY. On my contract it list possible delivery date #1.. The date is indicated as 8/15/16. Nowhere on my contract is there a second, third or forth possible delivery date indicated. EVERY email correspondence written to me all indicate 8/15/16 as my delivery date. When he sent the email apologizing he clearly states " Your delivery is on time for the time frames we agreed to. " There is no other date listed anywhere within that time frame. My family has been lied too, disrespected and received extra undue stress due to this companies lies and mis-management. I have no idea where my belongings are or when will I receive them and I am so angry I hired a team of crooks to do my move.
