I hired Nick to refinish my hardwood floors on 4/2-4/4/2018. He had refinished my floors 22 years ago and had also been at my house on 2 other occasions within the past 10 years to do two other rooms separately. I was always pleased. This time, I noticed a difference with the smell of the chemical. Normally, the polyurethane odor would dissipate in about a week.
It is now 4 weeks and the smell is overwhelming. During these 4 weeks, I reached out to Nick and he suggested purchasing box fans, an air purifier and also airing out the house. I have done all that he has recommended and it has been to no avail.
He came out to my house once and agreed about the smell and said that he understood my concern. He mentioned that he would reach out to his distributor and get back to me. I have continued to reach out to him as I am VERY concerned about the VOCs that are being emitted from whatever chemicals were used this time as I have a nine year old child.
We have been displaced as a result of the fumes making our eyes tear and noses burn and have had to stay at relatives homes over the past 4 weeks as the smell is overwhelming and permeates the entire home even with the windows open. I have since had 2 other flooring contractors come out and they are in agreement as well that something is wrong. Nick has been unresponsive to my texts and to voice messages. I am appalled with his lack of concern for what we are breathing and the ordeal that this has put us through.

Nick was to install an engineeded hard wood floor in our home. He gave us a sample of the wood. When they were done, we found the wood was cracking, splintering, separating and lifting. We called Nick, he came and replaced 3 pieces of wood. I called him again to show him more bad pieces of wood. He told me the wood was defective and needed to contact the manufacturing company. Well he never did. Once the BBB finally told me who the manufacturer was, because Nick wouldn't I called them, they never heard anything from Nick. They had no idea what I was talking about. Nick will not give us the receipt for the wood, without it we can't get the manufacturer to come to our home' To check out the flooring. We had a professional flooring person come and take a look at the floors, he told us the sample wood given us by Nick is the the same wood that was put on the floor. That's why Nick won't give us the receipt.
