Longyear exploited my mother. He told the court that she needed a guardian since us children lived out of state. She was in fine health, but forgets appointmets some times. Apparently she forgot an appointment with a lawyer from Longyear's office. She wanted them to update a trust for her. Longyear filed for guardianship as her "protector." We found out after the fact when Mom's phone was disconnected. When we finally found her, Longyear had moved her into an assisted living where the "care-givers" really didn't know what they were doing and had already sold her house.
Mom was being drugged for "anxiety" and could hardly speak. I had spoken with her a month before and she was fine. The care-givers at first wouldn't let us see her, but one felt sorry for us and let us in. Mom was in the dementia ward of the facility and there was nothing to do there. It was stark and lonely. I wanted to cry it was so horrible- so much different form her beautiful home. It took a long time to get Mom free from Longyear. Basically after he had sold and taken all she had he simply just released her from guardianship. She was in terrible shape by then and died less than a month later. Longyear is a crook. Don't let him or his staff anywhere near your records or assets. He will take it all.
