After uploading numerous documents and forms of ID's, they finally approved me to receive a free phone and service.

I received the cell phone and read the instructions to a 'T'. I used to work in the Cellular phone field before retiring a

few years ago. I already knew how to charge a new phone when you receive it, even tho I received nothing in the

way of instructions to do this. After a full charge for the first time, (approximately 8 hours), I powered the phone up.

I attempted to set the phone up through settings with the routine adding accounts and etc... This took a very long time

as the phone was far too slow to perform. Then, I noticed the battery was 3 - 5% and it died. I charge it all night long and

the next day, it comes on for a couple minutes and dies.. The battery is completely shot, unuseable.

Even if I had a new battery, the phone performs too slow to be useable anyway. After numerous attempts, I contacted QLink Wireless and explained the problems I was having and I was told to buy a new battrery or a new phone.

I realized I had been scammed. So, I just put it away. I have been scammed so many times, I just throw the item in a

drawer and move on. So tired of companies like this. It seems our entire nation has become the scam capital of the world.

Is this what I served in the service and becamed disabled for, a nation of scams?

Sincerely,

I've had a free government phone for years. I decided to switch over to Safelink from Qlink wireless because Safelink offers bring your own phone service. I called Safelink and was told to call Qlink to see when I could cancel my service. Qlink told me in August that I had to wait until December 2017 which would be the end of my contract because of new government regulations. I have an unlocked smart phone that I wanted to use for Safelink. I did as they asked and waited. Unfortunately, when I tried to move the service to Safelink the rep told me Qlink has BYOP now. Basically, he was doing everything possible to keep me as a customer of Qlink. I decided to see if my smart phone which is an unlocked phone could be used for Qlink. My goal was to get a phone that would provide more options. He put in my IMEI number but was unable to change it. The rep then said why don't you just buy another phone lol. I then ended the conversation.

Next I went to Safelink to see if they could activate my unlocked smart phone over to their service. The sim I was using and phone was compatible. This lead me to call Qlink again to cancel my service. As a disabled person and senior citizen all of this tech stuff was driving me crazy. Luckily, my eldest son was helping with this issue. Here comes my complaint: After I called Qlink back they said that my called in August 2017 when the rep told me to call back in Dec of 2017 was nulled and void because I had called in July of 2017 to reactivate my account. They also said I reactivated my account my opening an email and accepting another 100 minutes. As I recall the 100 minutes came on my cell phone as an upgrade. If adding the 100 minutes included re-certifying my service I was not aware of this obligation. The wording or message was unclear or deceptive. Moreover, why would a rep tell me that I had to wait until December to cancel. If I am not mistaken (lo) July comes after Aug. My yearly re certification is in December. Why on earth would a person renew 6 mts early? It was deceptive and really I do not honestly recall any emails asking me if I wanted to recertified.

Qlink is doing this because they are losing customers to Safelink/ Most of the customer are low income, disabled and elderly. Qlink is committing deceptive practices and downright defrauding the government and its citizens. I was yelled at by a lady who was probably close to 3 times younger than me. She did not give me a chance to tell her what happened. Her point was that they were right and everything I had said was incorrect or a lie. She was rude and made me even speak louder than I wanted to because of her pretty much saying I wasn't telling the truth. Now my only option is to file complaints and pass this information on to my fellow consumers. Don't allow Qlink to keep doing this because its a free program. I qualified for it because of my senior citizen status. I am not dumb or deaf. Shame on you for your practices and disrespect to seniors.

First off I want to state the positives: I have had Qlink Wireless Service for over 2 years now and appreciate the phone service I receive from them. I have no issues with minutes or texts. I am self-employed and money is tight so I took advantage of the free phone service for a couple years until I finally had some extra money to afford a new phone with monthly service costs. The problem was, I chose a delicate phone (Stylus 2 by LG) and the very first time I dropped it, I not only cracked the screen, but also the whole display rendering it unusable. This was only 10 days after I bought it and I was devastated after I found out insurance on the phone was almost no insurance at all. It would cost $100 to replace the phone (I had paid $129!!!). $100 is a big deal on a tight budget so I was grateful I hadn't cancelled my Qlink service yet and had this backup. Now, around November of 2016, I tried Qlink's wireless service for the first time. [continued below]....

Q Link will NOT remove service from my phone that I OWN. I have called several times and been told 24-48 hours to stop service and this never happens I have been calling for weeks.

I have also discovered that Q Link has 2 other UN AUTHORIZED phone lines in my name. You must use your phone once a month to keep it active. I stopped using these accounts several years ago.

When I checked the usage on these lines I was shocked and very angry when I found out that Q Link has added 1 minute every month to keep my old telephone lines active. A TOTAL SCAM RIPPING OFF THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED NOT TO MENTION THE FEDERAL PROGRAM THAT FUNDS THESE BENEFITS.

Ridiculous

I have been waiting for my phone for a month. Ridiculous. They are for sure comitting some sort of fraud. Your states attorney general should be notified...I am going to write to mine and the BBB, consumer protection agency, state rep. and whoever else I can think of.

Never had an issue until I recently had to replace my phone. I paid $25.00 and received the worst phone ever!!!! It's the ZTE N818S. I FINALLY talked to a human on the phone (whom barely could speak English) Just for him to tell me that even if I send the phone back, there are NO return of the funds I spent for it. In broken English I was repeatedly told, "all sales are final. " Needless to say, I am EXTREMELY UPSET.

Crummy phone-crummy Customer Service

I've been a Qlink Customer for a few years. I'm disabled, I'm a veteran. As such, my funds are very limited. First I will say that the ZTE 818 is the biggest piece of garbage ever produced in the name of a "smart phone". Made in China like every other piece of junk... This phone wasn't even new - it was "refurbished" and came to me broken. I need to communications - so what was I supposed to do? The phone didn't even come with a basic instruction manual. Now I understand that people today are born with the inherent knowledge of how to operate these things. But I'm sorry, I wasn't. The cell data is a total joke...it jumps sites in the middle of something and I have to start over. I can't always go to some place with WiFi. Yeah, sure, you get "free" data - which BTW is over charged - they deducted more than I actually used. But I also PAY for extra data. And when you call for support, you get a rude operator who tells you to call back on another line... Uh - if I had another line I wouldn't need this POS. How about let us speak to Melissa Halle - assuming she is even REAL ! I'm going to file a complaint against Qlink with the FCC - not that I expect them to help

Refused to end previous service for months even though phone was not being used under government guidelines. When reapplying for service I indicated that I didn't have a phone and couldn't afford to pay for one. Qlink indicated via email that they could help with this, signed me up and refused to give me a phone. This resulted in my not being able to sign with another company for a year and now I am on disability, unable to use lifeline service, many medical issues and no phone. This company is ripping off federal government, potential customers and the likes and needs to be held accountable Thank you Anna W

QLINK is a wireless provider that is mostly automated telephone hot line, gmail messages, and web portal. On MAY 14, 2022 QLINK Supported BOTH Life Line AND Affordable Connectivity. This is unusual, as far as I am concerned, QLINK IS NOT AN INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER.

I do not consider " DATA " From MOBILE DEVICES as Significant. When My INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER began support of AFFORDABLE CONNECTIVITY, I attempted to transfer to them instead. This occurred August 17, 2022. However, QLINK ... WITH OUT MY PERMISSION ... INTERCEPTED.

The first screen capture consists of an automated message QLINK sent to me on September 21, 2022. Later, on September 26, 2022 I LOST AN ENTIRE DAY Contacting My Internet Service Provider ( Which Is Not QLINK ) to transfer ... again.

  • Feb 11, 2022

It was a good deal for old people. Free wireless phone, talk, text and data, if you qualified for the Affordability Connectivity Program. ACP

I did, and signed up. Nothing Is Free It was a nightmare. The techical support language barrier was just too much. I got fed up with saying 'what did you say?' I had a problem with my 5G phone. I was only getting 3G.

After hours of trying to get my phone to work, "Ralph" told me my phone wasn't 'totally' compatible. Huh? Why didn't this little fact come up at registration? Just stay away.

This company promised me a o phone, sim card and tablet... months ago. I have called numerous times and heard a different story with every new person I spoke to in regards to where my phone and tablet were.

Finally, the supervisor advises me that I will not be receiving a tablet or phone and that if I want to use the service I needed to buy a phone from them or borrow from a friend.

I see no purpose in this lying unless they are deep down scamming the Federal Government. I had proof that I was going to be sent these items. now I wasted so much time for no reason. Please investigate this company.

  • Aug 31, 2018

How long does it take?

The website say "24 to 48" hours after receiving documentation that the phone will be sent out. They indicate to send your info immediately to get 100 extra free minutes. Well, 48 hours has turned into 504 hours and still no response other than documents were approved. I would like to apply to another lifetime company but apparently we are at the mercy of this company until they decide your fate one way or the other. This coming Monday (no one will be working because it is Labor Day) will start the fourth week. I am really sorry that I applied. I have always heard that it is "government" work so it takes longer, but I am wondering if it is a foreign government and not ours that is running the show.

  • Jul 1, 2018

I applyied for and was approved for free goverment cell phone service through Q link wireless. I recieved my phone and activated it. Within 5 days the account was suspended and the company through their automated line dtates I did not complete my annuial recertification as required. Ive tried contacting them by phone and through their customer support email and they refuse to reply. I tried to set up service through another company but they have me listed as having service with them therefore I cant. Its obvious to me that they are billing the goverment saying I have serive but are not providing any. A complete scam in my opinion..

I received my phone in March 2017 for the lifeline program due to disability. One would think that despite being disabled, one is still treated with some dignity (I am, after all, a disabled university professor - but all of us should be treated with courtesy!). QLink sent me their standard ZTE Uhura smartphone (nothing 'smart' about this 4GB memory phone that barely hold any apps and is impossible to root). The problems that I encountered began immediately... I was *constantly* contacted for someone who must have either previously had the number, OR STILL HAD IT!

Check this out people... In January 2018, while suffering from influenza, I was asleep and was awoken from my phone ringing not once, but THREE TIMES! Every time this happened the caller told me they were returning a call from my number that they had received within the past few MINUTES. "What are you talking about?" says I, "I've been asleep the entire morning." The final person to whom I spoke told me that he had heard about this before - something about cloning mobile phone numbers or some such thing and that I should alert my carrier immediately.

I then called QLink customer service and after taking at least 15 minutes to explain to the dim-wit what I was on about with my number being possibly cloned (not to mention several of this former - or current? - person's family members saying horrible things to me in messages "I hope you die, b***h", "F*** you lady", etc...for absolutely no reason) the representative wanted to charge me to change my phone number! I explained to him that there was no way that I was going to pay for a mistake on their part and asked to speak to his supervisor.

It took me over a half-hour to finally get his supervisor on the line. (I had to count to 10 many times to remain calm and pleasant as anger will not get one anywhere.) Finally, I spoke with the supervisor who reiterated the same line about me having to pay the reissuance fee to have the number changed to which I eventually replied that I would have an attorney contact them for fraud and for allowing me to be harassed. THAT finally did the trick!

I was eventually granted a new phone number but only *after* threatening legal action! Can you imagine? And not many people think of this! Prior to garnering my Phd, I worked for civil law attorneys so I *knew the law* regarding such matters, thank goodness.

So this isn't as much of a 'reporting a scam' herein as advice to those of you who read this as to how to get what you want from this awful company!

Now that my year with this pathetic company is at its end, I am switching to TAG Mobile as QLink participates in awful customer service, low talk time minutes per month and false advertising with their statement of 'bring your own phone' (just try that! I went through seven newly purchased phones and not one of them worked on their network! How is one to know unless opens the box, the phone and enters the internal numbers into the website, if the phone will work?!?! ARGH!!!). At least TAG Mobile states up front that they allow you to brig your own phone as long as it is a GSM phone and they offer 750 minutes a month of talk time on their lifeline plan. SOLD!

Best of luck to everyone who has to deal with QLink; you have my sympathies.

I sent them a fax telling them to cancel my account, and not to send me anymore of these crappy phones. They charged me one more time anyway, and didnt send a phone. I cancelled my card to prevent any more fraudulent charges. Their phone number hooks you up to a looping computer menu of instructions, but no info on live customer service reps.

The emails I sent were disregarded, as were the faxes. I suppose they dont have time or personnel to handle complaints, which must be many, if this is how they do business. But the charge was fraudulent, and apparently intentional.

  • Jan 19, 2018

In June of 2016, I called Q-Link Wireless and cancelled/terminated my participation in there govenment assisted phone service. Recently I recieved a application from Safelink for phone service through my medicaid provider La Health Connections. I have been thinking seriously about leaving Boost Mobile, my service provider now. I filled out the application from Safelink and placed it in the mail on the 1st of the month, on the 15th I placed a called to Safelink to check the status of my application, I went online, messenger and facebook, finally today on the 18th, I spoke to a representative from Safelink and was informed that they could not consider my applilcation until August, because I was a customer of Q-link and my contract with them is until August.I contacted Q-Link to inform them of the situation. I tell the customer service person, of my termination with them back in 2006 and to let him know, that for some reason they stilled had me listed as a active customer, and I needed them to hit whatever button necessary to delete me from their program .He informs me that I recertified in August of 2017, that I had called them and requested another phone which they refused. I assured him I had not. He insisted. I asked for proof, for him to provided me with just one number I had called, he said because it was over a year ago, he could not, to which I informed him according to the rules, if I don't make a phone call with-in 30 to 31 days then the service should have been automatically terminated. Why had'nt that happened? No answer, other than he wanted to go back and explain to me my options...either pay the $25 for another phone or wait for until August when my contract ends. I hung up. I did not have a government assisted phone in the whole entire year of 2017 or the finally half of 2016.

What I said in my working report is it. If you read. Im very ill and I just cant keep writing

Kevin R Skees. xx Whittier Drive. Kalamazoo. MI 49001

*I'm making a complaint on a free cell phone. Dam straight now hear me out. Been complaining about all of Q-link phones. Piss poor service. Been dealing with that now couple years. Well they had some kind of upgrade and went to a Android made in dumfu*town. On 11-09-2017 I could have lost my wife. Cell is for me. I have serious heart, coronary, pulmonary diseases in critical stages so pretty much cant leave the house with out a phone! But on the 9th My wife started bleeding she is 60. Bleeding bad. We still don't no what's going on but I went to call 911 and fu* thing dialed 91 and shut off. Been complaining about these problems from beginning. Change carriers. Love to but when I try to apply I cant says I'm already got service. Q-link. I'm not trying to start anything. We got my wife to the hospital and far from over. You see I could have lost my wife over complaints already been filed. This has nothing to do about 1 thing but is the truth that just how disabled people get treated. Accuse my language. I am disabled. I served from 1980-1994. Always get kicked down and keep trying to get back up. I had and have every right to be pissed about what happened and would could have happened. Free Gov program that I've had to spend $45 dollars and now what. No phone and cant get a Gov phone because of oh fu*. I better here a positive response and replacement phone that will make me happy so this is LESS apt to do this again. Your turn Q--LINK. 11/13/2017. 4:13 P.M Only Q-Link can calm this down asap Kept ignoring my messages about cell phone not working and they send me a trouble shooting guide.*

  • Oct 17, 2017

3 days after receiving this phone, I've wanted to send it back. To do so, I must obtain what they (QLink) refer to as a RMA (retun number). I've requested that number 4 x's without response. In fact, you cannot respond to this company for their automated phone service does not provide for either dispute resolution nor contact with a represenative. I read somewhere that if you stay on the tele line for 15 mins, you will, then, be directed to a surly, disenfranchised foreign rep that neither speaks or understands English to any great degree. I looked up the specs concerning the phone before it was sent to me. The phone I received has been adversly altered in many ways and none of them complementary to the phone's benefit. OK, it is a free phone and I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth (although you really should), I just don't want it and wish to send it back and take up with a more reputable company. From what I've been reading, I am but one of many thousands (10x...100x...1000x???) who want action taken against this disreputable company

Q link wireless claims to be a provider of cell phones to people who participate in some type of government program such as medicaid.

They ask for your personal information and a copy of your medicaid card or a card for a similar program, allegedly to prove that you're eligible for their "program." In missouri, medicaid cards have the customer's social security number displayed on the front.)

Once your personal information is sent they send an e-mail confirming that they received it, but within a few days-when they should be sending your phone-instead they start sending a barage of e-mails claiming that they can't send the phone yet because they haven't received proof of your participation in a government program. They do not have a working phone number; only a phone number that sends you into an answering machine hell with no way to leave a message asking for a call back. They ignore e-mails and faxes. It becomes clear that they're not a legitimate business.

This seems to be a "company" that doesn't want to conduct legal, ethical transactions. Trying to contact them is just a waste of time. I have reported them to the florida attorney general. I recommend that anyone else who is scammed by this outfit do the same. If you're a disabled person or senior, mention that in your report to the attorney general, as financially explioting an elderly oir disabled person is a crime in the usa.

  • Sep 19, 2017

I believe my personal identifying information such as my social security# is being misused by Q Linc Wireless so as I can not cancel services or upgrade to enjoy free government benefits , I would like to be contacted by an advocate or attorney in regards to any class action law suites

This so called compant got out smarted by me. First they send me a used phone that was almost maxed out in hard drive space, it was so slow when I would get a call, it wouldn't change screens so I could answer it. I called them and went through alot of automated bulls***, once in a great while I would actally get a human.

I told them the issues I was having and all they would say is I could buy another phone, I said f**k that this was defected befoe I got it. They claimed it was new. A week or so went by, and after formatting it for the 3rd time I call them back again.

This time im pissed and they know it. Some black lady tried telling me I dont know how to use the phone and that's why Im having issues. Needless to say i went bat s**t on tha b***h and hung up on her.

Several time a few weeks later I call again, I wasn't able to get a human. I started sending emails stating if I dont get a new phone for free, i want the f***r turned off. Every f****n reply said the same thing, yo can buy a new phone for 25 bucks. I kept sayin f*** that, I ain't buyin s*** from you losers.

My last attempt to talk to a human, they finally gave me a human. I told the f****r to shut it off and ram there service up his a**. Screaming at him sayin send me a phone for free of shut it off. I was put on hold. He comes back still telling mre I have to buy another phone. I said hey you dumb f**k, if you buy a new car and something goes wrong with it, do they make you buy another car?

put on hold again, when he returned he said my service will be disconnected. These a**wipes are ripping off the government and it's users. They were out smarted by DaKitty..

Enrolled with q link wireless phone, received the phone. Unfortunately the phone was broken. I then informed the company. I had to pay $25.00 before they sent me another phone. Again, unfortunately that phone was stolen. So, I purchased another phone for $25.00. That phone did not work, so I called and informed the company that there is a problem with the phone, that it just does not work. I return the phone to the company. They didn't tell me that I had to call and sign up for another phone. The company NEVER sent me another phone to this day. Then they told me that I had to send another $25.00 to get another phone. And that I can't go to any other company to assistance me. That I'm locked into there company for life. Well, I don't think so. I'm calling to my state representative to see how they can assist me. And also the new paper.

I am low income, disabled, retired, and live alone. I've had a lifeline phone for several years but my provider, Budget Mobile, is stopping it's service in the state of Oklahoma on July 6th and told me to find another provider which is qlinkwireless. They said someone in my household already has a lifeline phone and so I'm not eligible till December, and I've tried to explain this to them which I thought they understood.

They asked for proof which I've sent them 3-4 times and I've waited for 6 weeks to hear from them. They sent an email saying give it 3-5 days while under review. I've sent letters from SSI and Disability stating my income along with copies of my food stamp card and drivers license which is what they asked for but still only see "under review" on their site. My enrollment ID is : 32260507.

They also said to call with information. When I call it's not a person and it doesn't offer me a way to talk with someone, or leave a message. I needed to keep my same number if possible and now I'm afraid I won't have a phone at all and that's my only way to call for help if needed.

I've tried to find other providers but they lead me back to qlinkwireless. com. I sent another email to them today, July 1st, and told them I was contacting the BBB. Is there anything you can do to help me?

  • Jul 11, 2017

i have the same problem with their customer service no way to talk to them . and my phone roams all the time so no way to call without buying time . i thought this was a free phone so why do i have to pay to use it . they don't answer my emails ether .

  • Apr 22, 2017

Qlink wireless is a joke. first off my phone was stolen, so i attempted to call qlink for them to either end or suspend the account. i called them non stop for 5 days and sent various emails to their customer service. i did finally get a email like day 6 after the theft, the didnt do anything, never suspended the account, just wanted to change my number and give them $25 dollars for the new phone and number. i wouldnt of minded sending $25 dollars if i kept the same number.

  • Feb 11, 2017

I got a free phone from qlink. the phone was stolden and when i tryed to call them a number of time all i got was precording saying i had to pay for a replacement phone to replace the one that was stolen. they said it would cost $25. i should not have to pay for a replacement phone when the phone was free to beagain with. they should just replace the phone free of charge since it was stolden. it has been 2 or 3 months now and i still have not gotten to speak to anyone its a prerecording only.

  • Nov 12, 2016

contact numbers

I need to talk to a Qlink wireless representative It is impossible.

  • Sep 19, 2016

Ripe Off

Wish I could give them zero stars. Ripped me off for data. I paid and never got the service. There is no customer service. They give everyone the same lame number to call and al you get is a ROBO that tells you what prompt to choose. IT'S SET UP THAT WAY SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO HEAR YOUR COMPLAINTS.

  • Sep 19, 2016

Purchased data on 9/2/16. It worked for two days. After that whenever i tried to contact via customer service all i got were phone prompts. It's set up so that the consumer never gets to speak to a person.

My application with qualified document Proof upload the same time for QLink Wireless Lifeline program - "Free phone + 500 Free minutes monthly" on AUG 10, 2016 before sunrise. Qlink email-confirmed receipts of the application and all online contacts near instantly. That has been the only good part.

ELEVEN (11) DAYs have passed. The application status and DELAY reason are total unknown!

Phone inquiries simply go circle, TIME-WASTING and with NO ANSWERs by real persons or with useful info!! Emails or Contact-us under logon get again near instant confirmation of receipt, even with a person name - "MELISSA HALLE of QLink QA", but NO STATUS, NO what TO-DO, NO SOLUTIONs!!! The application has made NO PROGRESS.

Beware, applications do require: NAME, DOB, SSN last 4 digits, a valid ADDRESS to receive a phone, a phone number, and PROOF of a government program participation - again ID INFO!!!

DOUBTS have come to mind:

1. Is QLink Wireless collecting Applications with real ID INFO to collect Government $$$, in one/MORE programs for the financially disadvantaged, but delivers the program benefits to only a FEW or NONE applicants??? Is it a scam?

2. Does QLink Wireless also profit from all the ID INFO it has collected and continues to collect from applications by selling ID INFO?? Is QLink Wireless committing ID THEFT???

==> Applicants and users of QLink Wireless, please comment.

I applied for qlink wireless government free phone in January it is now April I never received an email denying my service so I've called several times spent 10 to 15 minutes on the phone listening to a recording that gave me redundant information again and again when I finally did get a live representative on the phone and she was nasty I try to explain the situation as best I could told me that my application they got in January was not processed because of the physical address but that was given for my phone to be sent to I tried to explain to the rep that the address given was just a mailing address because at the present time I am homeless she told me that I was committing fraud and that she could not be a part of it so I ask for a supervisor who only identified himself as Jim again explaining the circumstances Jim said to me that I was out of there calling area so I had a request to change my address to a Pasadena address which is my father again he told me that I was committing fraud and that he was not going to have any part of it because I am homeless and I do not have a physical address so I asked him if you were homeless and needed a phone to acquire services or find a job what address would he give her the phone to be mailed to he in turn accused me of giving made up addresses it's hard enough to be in this situation where you need to reach out and ask for assistance but they have people treat you substandard human being not do anything willing to help you go the extra mile and at the least be courteous as far as I'm concerned it was a big waste of my time and not being told back in January what the problem was that I could have applied for another phone through another company with a willingness to serve and help the community which is what this program was initially set up for I think the Q Link Wireless should retrain their customer service reps including their supervisors that this is their job is to help people in need not to make them feel less of what they are

Class Action Lawsuit

Maybe its time for ALL of the un-serviced but promised to band together for a class action lawsuit. I have been waiting for my phone for a month. Rediculous. They are for sure comitting some sort of fraud. Your states attorney general should be notified...I am going to write to mine and the BBB, consumer protection agency, state represenitive and whoever else I can think of.

Just complaining about this company on the internet is not enough,,,,,We need to make BIGGER waves...
