Priority Home Relocation, LLC. Reviews

  • Feb 15, 2021

I signed up for an on-line Moving Quote from various vendors, and a company called Priority Home Relocation and a guy named Louis Cullen called me for about a month before my move date. I repeatedly explained that I had enough personal and work related items to fill a 53 foot semi truck. I described the items and took pictures of them.

I also explained that I was not going to have someone come and move boxes into a truck - I would have everything ready on pallets and they could "Shuttle" from a local truck into a 53 foot truck in California and then we would have to hire a local smaller truck to move things from the semi into my home on the pallets. This way of moving was suggested because I had a friend helping me stage everything on the "From" side of the move.

Louis assured me that his company was trustworthy, reliable, and that he personally had over 20 years experience in moving. I am a MINISTER and Louis made sure to say things that he thought would be congruent to my faith in order to create a bond of trust.

We spoke at length - over a total of 2 hours across several days - and during that time, over and over again, I explained how much I had to move and that it would be bigger than a 26 foot truck and probably take a whole 53.

Louis said that he thought that it might be "less than a full 53' truck, and if it was, that they would even reduce the rate for me from the quote! I was impressed. I sent Priority Home Relocation pictures of the stuff, and I gave them a complete breakdown of what I was moving. He said that he was quoting that I would have the listed items (which fill a 26 foot truck) PLUS approximately 180 medium sized boxes as the agreed-upon volume on the contract.

I signed the contract, and then shortly thereafter, I saw some links from the Better Business Bureau and other sites where NUMEROUS people had been scammed by these people. I prayed that I would not be scammed, and I called and emailed them confirming the amount of materials I had. They assured me that they would "confirm everything" prior to my move date. I crossed my fingers.

On the date of my move, I got a call from a guy saying that he was the Mover who was going to accept my belongings from the local trucker who would "shuttle" my belongings and put them in the 53 foot truck. The trucker who was supposed to accept the load shared with me that he was DRIVING A 26 foot truck - half the size that I needed.

I called back up Priority Relocating Service and they told me that there was no mistake - they had contracted for about half of a 26 foot truck. She said that Louis had put 8,000 cubic feet on the Order Contract - about half a 26 foot truck. I was very upset and explained how much space I had requested, and how many boxes Louis Cullen had promised room for (180 of them) - along with the objects that I had taken pictures of - and I reiterated that I had asked for a 53 foot truck completely for me. The woman on the phone said that all she knew about was the 8,000 cubic feet and they could "solve this for me" and that "your move is not ruined, it's just going to cost significantly more" (paraphrase) - I knew then that I had been scammed, just like all the other reviews I saw online.

I called up Discover card and protested the charges, and filed a claim. Later they wrote back and they said that based on the "documentation" that the company had provided them (I'm not sure what that could be, as I sent Discover Card all of the emails that I had sent them) that I would have to pay the 1850 for what amounted to being scammed on the day of my move.

How this scam affected me: I was a week late arriving at my destination. I had to sleep on the floor becuase my bed was packed up, and my blankets, and without access to any of my belongings, FOR A WEEK until a friend helped me arrange a 53 foot truck to carry my belongings safely to my destination. The cost of the REAL moving company was roughly 1/2 of what Priority quoted me - for 1/4 of the belongings - so figure that Priority wanted to charge me FOUR TIMES THE PRICE I ENDED UP PAYING - and considering that they kept my "DEPOSIT" it was a total scam.

I don't usually write these kinds of complaints, and I usually offer people the opportunity to make good on their contracts. Priority Home Relocation has made NO Attempt to contact me to resolve this amicably since the day of the move. They have not returned my calls, were RUDE to me on the phone when the move was ruined, and KEPT MY MONEY without doing their job.

This is an AWFUL way to hurt people at a very vulnerable time in their lives - one of the top stressors is moving.

I have since emailed Priority Home Relocation and called them. They surprisingly have no desire to speak to me. I wonder why. They have my money and they failed to perform as promised.

I hope that other people will take care and not let people "re-word" their quote for services from "All the shown items and pallets PLUS 180 boxes to "8,000 Cubic Feet". I trusted these people and this was a total scam.
