Presidential Van Lines Reviews

  • Jun 19, 2018

This company told me everything i wanted to hear to get my deposit. My family was moving to Michigan from Colorado. As I started the process, Walter from Presidential Van Lines all but hounded me every day for 6 days working out the details. He promised me a semi truck and four movers as I own a lot of pinball machines and arcade games along with music equipment and a houseful of stuff.

On the sixth day I signed a contract and put down $1,000 deposit as he had been telling me everything I wanted to hear for a week now. I hear nothing for the next few weeks so I call them to make sure they will arrive as planned. Then 24 hours before the move they call and tell me my $5500 estimate is now $11,250 AND they are sending a 20 foot box truck with one mover.

They have my inventory and have to know all my things will not fit in such a small truck. WHAT A SCAM! I ask to speak with Walter and am informed he has been fired. They refuse to refund my deposit even though they are not giving the service they promised. I end up firing this UNTRUSTWORTHY company, fly back to Colorado as I'm already in Michigan working, rent a 26 foot Uhaul and trailor, and make the move myself leaving various items behind. Horrible and stressful experience and am still refused my $1000 deposit. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT USING THIS MOVING COMPANY. THEY ARE LIARS AND SCAMMERS!!!

Literally the worst moving experience ever. After being told that a truck was BEING HELD for us to pick up on Monday, Presidential Van Lines had NO communication with us except when WE called to verify the time. On Sunday, two people from Presidential Van Lines confirmed the Monday pick up. On Monday, NO ONE called, so we called them. They took our deposit. They said pick up was going to be Tuesday morning. We accepted that as we know that can happen. They said that they would call within 20 minutes to give us an ETA. They NEVER called so my husband called yet again. We were then told that they would be there TODAY on Monday between 3-5. At 5, my husband called and they said that it would be TUESDAY between 5-6 but that it may be later. Also, they say because we are moving farther than 400 miles, it will take 2-5 business days to get our stuff. This is literally the most ridiculous experience moving ever. DO NOT USE PRESIDENTIAL VAN LINES!

Presidential Van lines is a scam, they are quoted me $5200. For a Cross Country move from California to North Carolina. They promised the world when you give your deposit of $1500, I Spoke to Christian who said they will pack everything up and move it for you and even set it up in your new house, which seemed great considering we went though a detailed itemized list of all my items in my home over the phone, this was a big mistake!!, THEY Are only Brokers and call me up telling me that Cobra Van lines will be showing up on saturday to pick up my items. They show up 2 hours late , get to my house and give me a completely different story of how this works even though I signed a binding contract with Presdiental Van Lines. The movers who showed up said I can either chose to fit lthe truck by weight or by cubic feet And anything over what was discussed in weight or ft would be charged $. 050 cents per pound. How am I supposed to know this considering i ALREADY SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH A BINDING WEIGHT., They also said i would need to come up with 70 percent of the balance $ 3,788.10 today in cash , not he 50 percent that was previously discussed over the phone with Presidential Van lines. After calling them once the movers were there they said no they are not right its the 50 percent today and 50 percent upon delivery. OK, SO I Proceeded with the move. They Broke my vase right from the beginning and didn't help me pack any of my small items, luckily i had already packed most of them my self prior to them showing up 2 hours late. Then when i did ask for anything to be packed meaning needed a box, they said that it would be a extra charge for the box and that i WOULD HAVE TO PACK IT MY SELF... WHAT IS THE POINT OF PAYING THE EXTRA MOVING FEE TO HELP WITH PACKING IF THEY DONT LIVE UP TO WHAT THEY SAY. I Didn't use any of there boxes and still got charged for them. I Am completey upset with this process on top of it all my stuff is in storage and they are now saying i owe $8000 because I was over the estimated weight, We didnt even get to go to scale to see what the weight was.. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM DO NOT USE THEM AT ANY COST!!

I wish I would have read the reviews before hiring them myself! They gave me a quote that I wanted however underestimated the weight of my stuff after telling them on the phone. The rep kept saying to me as long as you are under 10000 lbs you are good to go! Why in the heck did they estimate a 3 bedroom for 3400 lbs and with all of the stuff that I gave them for the inventory! The inventory control guy called today Cory he was rude, to say the least, and then had the nerve to add three totes on to our estimate and it went up 200 dollars! They don't even have a truck scheduled and my move is in one day! I am now out 650 deposit that they say is nonrefundable and I just know if I let them come and move my belongings from NM to WA state that they are going to price gouge me until I am out 3000 dollars what they had originally quoted me but magically brought it down to 2000! Should have listened to my gut and moved myself, to begin with, so that's what I am doing hiring a truck and doing it alone because I will not let them take any more of my hard-earned money.

This company tells you everything you want to hear in order to get your deposit (mine was $700). We described everything in our 3000+ sq. ft. house they were to move from Texas to Florida AND sent photos of most of the items.

They arrive a day early for the move AND in a 26 foot rental truck ALREADY HALF FULL! The english speaking man immediately said "you have too much stuff - it weighs too much, too." He is telling me that any item that weighs over 49 pounds will not be moved and any number of boxes over 36 will not be moved. They required that every drawer in all the furniture be emptied so of course, there are a lot of boxes.

So I phone my moving rep (Brandon) and he has been fired for underestimating customers' moving charges. Well, why didn't someone phone to let me know!?! I am now speaking with Cody who is a total jerk. Over two hours of a heated conversation, Cody wants to start reducing the amount of items we are to move in order to get the price down to what was quoted. What a scam!!!

They thought they had me over a barrel since they knew I had sold my house and had to vacate. After over three hours of wasting valuable time on the phone, I fired the company. I quickly reserved two large moving trucks. My wife and I each drove a truck 1400 miles towing cars - and the drive took three days.

Now I am trying to get my deposit back and they are not cooperating or willling to do anything but put all the blame on me.

I strongly recommend not using this company. Turns out they don't even own trucks and are BROKERS for other moving companies.
