I applied for a mobile home in Waterside Family Communities on Feb 10, 2017 in which i gave the manager, Jennifer, a $400 "hold" deposit. She stated that the trailers fill up fast and that would be the only way I could get one. When she couldn't seem to provide a mobile home for me, I applied, to no avail, at 3 of their other "family communities", Town & Country, Glenwood/J&L and Countyside/RiverRun. They boast of having 14 locations in and around the Tampa Bay/Hillsborough County area. Each one was willing to apply my "hold" deposit but there was always a reason they couldn't get me in a mobile home; 1)don't make enough money to qualify, 2)need proof income (bank statement) for unemployment income, then the next place told me 3)unemployment doesn't qualify as income or otherwise they either didn't have anything available or none available with the number of bedrooms/bathrooms that i requested (2bd1b). There was always a reason I could not rent from them. When I asked about my deposit the manager shoved a piece of paper with an address on it and told me to write and say why I was requesting the return of my deposit. On April 3, 2017, when I realized this "conglomerate" wasn't going to provide me a place to live, I wrote for my deposit return and stated all the above problems. On May 31, 2017 I received a response stating I did not comply and would not be getting my $400 back. I did everything they requested of me! I contacted Bay Area Legal Services for advice but the wording on the hold deposit form prevents my being able to go any further with this problem!!
