Optimum Advocacy Center Reviews

I received a letter in the mail that said I was able to get my loan modified due to a government agency. I was currently paying 9% in interest and had tried to modify it through HAMP twice and had been denied. I called the number and was interviewed. They had some paperwork for me to provide and I provided them. The next day they called and said that I was eligible for the loan modification and that it would cost me $3450 broken down into payments of $950, $850,$850 and $800 spaced three weeks apart. They emailed me an unsigned contract. I asked multiple times what the likelyhood of having my loan modified was and was told that it was very likely. I asked about cancellation policy and was told that I can cancel at any time and would receive a refund of any unearned payments. I was told that I had to take cash out of my account and go to wells fargo and deposit it into their account. I did that and signed and emailed the contract to them at 4:50pm on Friday. All weekend I had a bad feeling about them. So on Sunday I emailed them a cancellation of the contract so that they received it first thing Monday morning. I called Theresa Wilson on Monday and asked if she'd received my cancellation and she said she had. I asked when would I get my refund as they only had the contract for 10 minutes and they hadn't even signed the contract. She said she would call me back. She called two days later and said that I wasn't due a refund. I said how so? You said I could cancel at any time. She said I had to give 30 days notice and that I would not have to make any further payments!! I asked her if she was out of her mind! They only had the contract for 10 minutes and they hadn't signed it! I reported them to the better business bureau and had my attorney write a demand for payment letter. They refused to refund my money! They are a scam!! DO NOT TRUST THEM! A few weeks ago I received an email from an attorney in Maryland and she said thaere were 21 incidents against this company and to report them to my state Attorney Generals' Office.
