It has been many years since we sent a letter to Opex Communications stopping our 800 number service after our business closed. The monthly amount was only approx. $ 3.50 a month and I paid it via autopay receiving a mailed bill every month. Things were fine as we stopped receiving bills years ago and hadn't heard from Opex for years until in April 2017 we received an email stating that there was a problem and we needed to contact them to pay our bill. I called and told them that our service was stopped years ago and we hadn't received a bill since our letter. The rep told us that they were recently taken over and there possibly was a mistake. She checked and said that our service was stopped years ago but there was a balance due?????? I said how can that be as we stopped the service when our business was closed and never received another bill after that. She said that was not the case and we owed over $ 100 for past bills????? I asked why we never received our regular monthly bill and she didn't have an answer. I also said we were on autopay and she said that our service was discontinued when our CC used for autopay was outdated?????? I said if that is the case you owe me money which I missed on our statements.

I then demanded a total recap of all the charges and dates to which they never responded. I sent them numerous follow up emails but never heard a thing. I actually filed a complaint with the FCC to which was never resolved. The FCC has not responded to my emails concerning the complaint and/or updates via their website on the still opened case.

Next, I started receiving monthly bills by mail again. They have been charging me $ 5.35 a month and the bill is now over $ 200.00. I don't know what to do. I contacted my Congressman who has done nothing. I have been sending emails to the FCC to no avail and am still sending emails to Opex without them responding.

These bills could go on forever as I cannot stop them and if I hire an attorney it will cost me a great deal of time and money. I am a senior who just doesn't know what to do.

I have read complaints all over the internet and don't know who to contact. Any suggestions or help will be appreciated. I guess a middle income retiree who has a small bill but is being harrassed by a big California company who I am sure donates to politicians is just a lost sheep in the world of government against the people aka The Swamp.
