Omni Tech Support Reviews

  • Apr 10, 2018

I had a contract with Omnitech to remotely service my computer when it was not working correctly. This went on for about 3 years. One day I just could not get an answer. I contacted the BBB in CA, they sent a letter and called the case resolved. Talk about a scam. I just want my money back. Total is about 150.00.

Omni tech has been under contact with me for serveral years to fix my computer not matter what trouble i encountered. my last contract for a period of 5 yrs

expires December 2019, therefore, I have one year of service paid for under this final contract. they with usually charge 200.00 per yr. and I feel they owe me 200.00 or make provisions for another company to take over my contract til termination date.

On Wed., Feb.15, 2012 I telephoned Microsoft support about system errors that occurred after a M/S update, including not being able to open WORD documents. They connected me to Omnitech Support. I spent two hours in a computer-sharing dialogue with rep."Barry", during which time he cleaned some polymorphs from my system, then stated that I could no longer use word. I told Barry that my contract with Omnitech stated "no resolution, no payment" and that I wanted a refund for my $79.99.

He argued with me for a long time and tried on three occasions to trick me into saying "okay" (authorizing payment-due procedure) THAT'S THE THIEVERY. I told him, resove issue first, payment after. He argued with me more. And more and more. Finally, he installed the most second-rate, unstable world processing program I've ever seen and told me that "It does everything WORD does" THAT'S THE LIE. After two minutes of testing the program, I told Barry that it was garbage, and I wasn't going to pay $79.

99 for it. He argued more. And more.

Two-hour story made short, I ended up paying him $35 for the cleaning, with a refund of $45 (that I will believe when I see it). For two hours this jerk did everything within his power to lie, cheat or coerce me into paying $79.99 for an unresolved issue that their contract says I owe nothing for. I have the entire dialogue on record, and am sending it to the BBB (with whom Omnitech is "accredited") and to their State Attorney General's office, as soon as I find out what state they are in.

Boy have i been scammed, royally. This company is a classic recipe for scam. If you have ever worked for a telemarketing company you would know what im talking about.

The first thing you get is the classic `how may i help`attitude. I had a small problem with microsoft publisher and they told me it was because i had a bunch of infections Bullshit).

They said if i paid 300 bucks that they could fix the problem, i said no. But, as the sales game works, they highball you. They then said that they could offer me their support for only 200 bucks. I unfortunately said yes to their service, horrible idea. Sadly, they send you the terms and agreement after you pay them!! i am so naive!

They then accessed my computer via remotely, and "optimized" my computer Bullshit).

They repeatedly told me that they were microsoft certified, and couldn't prove it. I asked them what qualification they had, and they wouldnt tell me, they said they aren't allowed to give that information...Retarded!

If you gave money to them you might as well say goodbye to it. They are what we call a "professional" scamming company.

All i had to do was change my default printer to fix the original problem.

I hope this will help anyone out there looking for computer repair service. Sad to say I am always checking here when I use a new service and did not this time. I used OmniTech Support service on 8/15/2012. The initial person did a check of the issue and told me there were major issues with my computer other than the problem I called with. Before I got to a technician I had to agree to the service bill and then listen to a promotion of their continuous coverage one click service which sounded like a good system. The initial steps took nearly an hour.

I became suspicious when the technician started with the Outlook issue and not the registry issues, BIOS issues, and other "major" problems. The repair of a corrupt Microsoft Outlook took 6.5 hours. Yes I was on the Net 6.5 hours watching two different technicians do the same thing over and over expecting a different result. My husband was in the room and told the technician he was putting in the wrong type of server and trying to make it work on another program. He was very concerned about the knowledge base and proficiency of the technicians. My husband's information worked the first time. The other "major problems" were never addressed and my registry was not wiped as I was lead to believe. My Nortons protection was disconnected during the service and could not be used until it was uninstalled and reinstalled by my husband. I know I was foolish to watch this go on and on but I had at that point agreed to pay for the service and it seemed a lost cause as time went on.

I notified the technician at the end of the call that we would not be taking the 20 month service agreement but he said we would have to be called by someone else. I received a call and returned it. After the tetephone was on hold so long that it went dead twice, I got through, needed to be transferred and again got a dead telephone. I then looked on this site and found the other reports on this company. I then contacted my credit card service and we went through together the same connection to a dead end twice. I was told only a manager, not the billing department, nor anyone else can cancel a service.

I will continue to dispute the charge for a service since I would be fearful service would not even be there based on what I am seeing here.

I was pressured to purchase Sony support. Spent $200 to buy Omni Tech. Actually not Sony. They are a sub-contractor. Their service was terrible. Conned me into allowing them remote access.

Altho they advertise money back they resised refunding $200. Finally ageed.

They disabled my Sony Vaio computer. Blue screens warn of crashes. Cannot turn off. Very slow.

They demanded $200 to fix what they broke. Isn't that extortion?

Plan to pursue with Sony. If they are doing this to me they have done it to other Sony customers. Do not use Omni Tech.

I got a phone call this afternoon from 212 512 2524 telling me they were from Microsoft and that over 87 computers in my area had been hacked. I knew that Microsoft is not equipped to call us all so I hung up and called my isp. Century link took the report and told me to call Microsoft which I did and Microsoft then referred me to these knuckleheads. They told me I had been hacked and needed to clean my computer. Then tried to sell me the $300 package, I said no, then the 169 dollar package I said no, Then came up with a $79.99 finally I just said yes. Well then after a few more minutes a supervisor came up with another $40.00 and I could have a six month. Ok. anything to get out the hacker out of my computer. I watched as they d/l 2 programs off of cnet and then ran those programs. One was ccin and the other was malaware. I could have used the program I already have for that! Watched them run and delete the program. I had a funweb that was from a birthday card I received via the email and he deleted it too soon for me to see the rest. Then they inform me that I needed to stay away from those sites but couldnt tell me what sites to stay away from! I want my money back! They way they talked my whole computer was in danger and it wasn't!! I am so angry! Your going to another website d/l free programs so that you can check my computer?? I THINK NOT.

  • Jan 15, 2016

I contacted Omni Tech Support with a question about Windows Live Movie Maker. They refused to allow me to talk with them in person (first red flag) and then proceeded to go into my registry for a mere question on the above program(second and last red f*g!) I immediatley disconnected!!

I got suckered in by the continuous offers from SONY, was outside of my warranty, and figured it was worth the cost, since, after all SONY was offering the service. Dont be suckered in! This is a subcontractor, of whom must have a kick-back scam with SONY, and they have done nothing but wasted my time, money, and placed malware on my computer! They have been monitoring where and what I do online!

They also disabled my ability to file complaints against them, until I had them wiped clean from my hard drive! This company is dangerous and I am going to do all I can to make SONY drop them! They play hot potato with complaints, and play games, wanting you to explain reasoning for refund, after multiple times on hold, and in multiple ways. I am not playing games, and will get my money back, plus a pound of flesh, and hopefully have them dropped from SONY. At this point, I will never buy another SONY product, due to this situation!

I have never been treated so rudely in my life. This company responded to all my request like I was an idiot and couldn't see through their smoke screen. First of all I was searching for the customer service phone numbers for Microsoft to help me install a brand new computer program I brought on this day- Microsoft Word. This company's number popped up on google with a tool free number and adverisement that said they were specialist in this area , specifically Microsoft. The first conversation I had was with the receptionist , who immediately turned me over to the tech specialist once I explained my problem.

After allowing the first tech, tech 11 to remotely control my computer, take the key code for my new disk; he drops the bomb that it will cost a mere $199.99. to fix this problem because there were several virius found. He assured me that it could be fixed and he was working on it as we speak. I asked several times, how long it would be, he said he would get it done as soon as possible. I agreed to this but unbenowned to me, he then proceeds to tell me that in order to prevent this problem from happening again I need to buy an security program for 299.99.

I said no way. Just fix the initial problem. With that, I get disconnected and transferred to another tech when I called back, tech 84. She asked for the same information and it takes about another two hours for her not figure things out . She did the same things the other tech did. She did not admit that she did not know what to do, but as I anxiously awaited for my computer program to become operable until I noticed the screen said this will take 11 hours. I was furious. First of all, I had already spent 5 -6 hours with the two technicians. It gets better, tech 84 transfers me to the head of the tech specialists and he says, oh it will take 10 more hours.

I explained I didn't have 10 more hours and I wanted a refund. He said he'd have the supervisor get back to be in about 2-3 hours- mind you it's 10:00 p.m. I said no and asked can I speak to the supervisor now, he says no because he is on "break" OMG, that was the icing on the cake. At 11:30 p.m. the Supervisor calls back, by that time I am beside myself. After listening to my story, he agrees to refund my money and send me a confirming email. I got the email around 12:00 mid-night; however, I won't be convinced until I see my bank statement. What a nightmare!

I called for help on my computer and the so called "Microsoft customer service Omnitech" lady said that they were goin to transfer me to a tech and that they were goin to charge me a fee of 159.99 if they needed to do extra work on my computer. But all i wanted was to fix my Email address. THATS ALL.

They wanted to get my email address and my password. I asked if they could call me because i have "trust issues" but they said it be better for me to chat with them...for what my personal information??? you got me F---ed up!!!! So i asked "how do i know you're not a fake person"

He just said that if he could access my computer for further work. I told him no. For what??? He didnt respond. So i told him if i give it to him will he call me. He said he would so I sent it and then i asked him if he can call me on my number. I sent him my number and he replied that he can not make customer calls to fix this problem. He kept bugging me about accessing my computer. I told him if he doesnt call me or tells me whats goin on or why he needed my information and why he needed to access my computer, then i was goin to call my lawyer and tell them about this so they can deal with it. He got offline.

So what does that tell ya, Scamartists!!! Fraud and FELONY!!! A HOLES!!! I better not get any dumb mail to my house or any prank calls!!!!

Oh that techs name is Carl and the ladies name on the phone sounds like people from india or somthin...i just called again and they said that they technician was disconnected, But how the hell they disconnect if they were typing me so fast??? They love to lie hu...Thanks for the fraud!!! Jerks!!!

I contacted fixnow.com because they advertised "Microsoft certified employees". This company is a front to screen calls and divert them to Omni Tech Support so they can make changes on your computer.

After connecting with a "Tech"(#59 named Falcon) i specifically asked if they were going to make any changes or remove any info from my computer. They assured me that everything is monitered any no changes would be made without my approval.

Being a business owner myself, i went ahead and let them scan my computer. They came back with 6 different items and over 4,000 issues that needed "Prompt Attention". They wanted to charge me $249.99 to fix the issues. My computer only cost me 300.00 brand new! Something is Wrong!

Contacted a friend who suggested other protection, and low and behold there is a simple issue with a windows 7 program that is under warranty and microsoft will fix for free... Need i say anymore?

This is a copy of the email that went to Omni Support as well as to my bank after the fraud took place.

You have a scam going and this is fraud. This began at 5pm on March 5, 2013 when I telephoned Microsoft support who transferred me to your office which was unknown to me as I was under the impression that they were transferring me to MS support not Marc Habermans scam game.

I copied the entire chat session with your alleged tech and the game was on when it came to pricing the repair which began as a simple question.can I uninstall MS 2010 and not affect MS 2003 as I did not want to lose all the emails in my Outlook. The amount of the charge started at $250 and negotiating down ended at $99.99. Obvious the game your company plays. (I have a copy of that negotiation)

At that time with a request from the first tech, I permitted him and the following tech that requested access to my computer and since I did not look away from the computer for one moment, I actually caught your second tech opening my private files (which are clearly titled and it was obvious what he was doing). I immediately took control of the desktop and opened a word doc and wrote to him to STAY OUT OF MY PRIVATE FILES. He said he was searching for a particular file, but why in my documents? And when I told him to go to the start button and type in whatever he was searching for he said ok. What is going on with Marc Habermans company? Is he aware of what his employees are doing? It was also obvious that this tech had absolutely no clue as to what to do to repair the issue. He spent almost 4 hours doing nothing and then he accidently shut off my computer and everything was lost and my 2003 Outlook did not open again. I had to employ a local IT person who heads up a major communications companys IT Dept and when I explained what your two techs did he was appalled and agreed with me on everything I wrote above.

A few minutes after your tech shut off my computer and disconnected I received a telephone call from your company with a man apologizing profusely and promising me that a high tech person would call me the next morning at 10am EST and resolve the issue in no time. I never received a call which is the second reason for the charge back. That was at 11am on March 6, 2013, and you did not respond until 6:24PM that evening as shown below.

I wrote an email and told your company that I was done and that it cost me more money to actually have a real professional repair the issue which took minutes not hours. The bank where my card is held has been informed to charge back the rip off you charged me for making my computer worse and using 4 hours of my time and I should charge your company for my hourly rate for sitting for 4 hours watching your techs do nothing and make the issue worse.

I am done with your company, this is my last email to you. You can however relate to Marc Haberman that his company will now be coming under investigation for fraud and theft. If you continue to harass me and this fraudulent amount of money you charged me is not credited back NOW, I will seek legal counsel.

I am also reporting this to their local District Attorney's office as this falls under internet theft. I would suggest anyone else who has fallen under their illegal guise does the same.

I googled Microsoft to repair viruses in computer because programs were shutting down & would not let me in. Omni Tech was under this so I contacted them. They used remote after telling me my registry was severely corrupted as were other programs. They said they would not bill me until 4th week in May since I had no money in acct. I discovered that they have billed acct and have caused overdraft. I am now concerned about their use of remote and what they may have or have not done to my computer.

In February 2011 I was having computer problems. When my local server could not help me I googled up Omnitech Support. When I declined their high pressure offer of a 6 month maintenance agreement for $99.99, I was informed that I had just incurred a charge of $60. for the service they had just performed. In spite of being on Social INSecurity, I finally agreed to go for the 6 mo. service.

Omnitech has performed a "monthly routine maintenance", and they have inserted their ICON as "administrator" for a user of my computer. I notified them twice to remove it, and they said they would, but did not. When I went to log in this evening it said there was another user on.

These people rarely answer their phone, which is supposed to give service "24/7"!! I do not want them using my computer, and am very frustrated that they have made themselves inaccessable.

I will say that the ones I have connected with are very polite and agreeable sounding. That does not help their non-compliance!!

  • Dec 24, 2015

They are known as one....Omnitechsupport.com, outlooksetting.com and techsupportserve.com

Something tells me that they have a slew of other sites that connects with one as they are all the same people...the three that I am aware of is Julian, Jo and Danny. STAY AWAY

These folks are not here to fix your problem. After reading other posts, I am shocked that there were those with very similar problem if not the exact same. My problem was simply trying to access or upload my emails in outlook. You connect with a tech, they make it look like they are working on the issue, then they say they need to do a health scan check when they download "their" health program to show you a bunch of bogus errors that is supposedly on your computer. How do I know its bogus? Simple, I opened up scan program that I purchased and there was not ONE SINGLE error or red flags on my computer and all the updates were up to date. Go Figure.

Then after they show you all the bogus errors, they ask if you want them to proceed with fixing the errors and then slap you with a price you have to pay for their service. After I told them that I can have the errors taken care of locally and that I just simply want to resolve my outlook mail issue. The response was, if you take it somewhere, they will mess up your computer, yada yada yada. At that point, I still insisted to skip this step and just focus on the outlook issue. Surely this was not a necessary step.

Guess what happens next, he disconnect the chat becuase he simply did not want to talk anymore if I was not going to pay for the service. Unbelievable. They take you through all those changes. I then contacted the chat support again and talked to the same person who connected me to this sorry of an excuse technician to complain that there was nothing mentioned of health scan and paying for errors to be fix when that was never an issue. Only thing she could say was she apologize for the inconvience and asked was i ready to pay now.

Now, I managed to go back to see if I was to connect with someone else and see how it went based on a different "made up" issue. To my disbelief, this person did not say anything about a cost until I ask. The first thing they wanted to do was connect to your computer. When I ask about cost, they could not give me a price and said that it would depend on the complixity of the issue. See for yourself....

I typed in "Microsoft Vista Support" in google and clicked on microsoft support. I got this company and regret it. They passed themselves off as microsoft. I just purchased microsoft vista and microsoft flight simulator x gold and installed it on the computer using three monitors. I added a four as to get the best results, you can stretch the two center monitors to 900 x 3200 resolution insted of 900 x 1600 for each and it would count as one monitor. I explained this to the tech support person and he said he would have to access my computer and said to type logmein123 in the box. Once he got in my computer, he started to tell me he could make my computer run faster and make the games operate with better resolution.

All this would cost $359 for two years, i said no thanks, then he gave a sales pitch on one for $199, after i said no thanks, he tried for the $99 special for 6 months. I informed him that i purchased vista and have the receipt and serial number and all i needed was how to combine the two monitors. He stated that all you get when you purchase a windows product is the disk and if you want any more information about installation and operating proceedures, you would have to purchase a package from him. I questioned him about working for microsoft or him saying that he was a certified microsoft technician means he actually works for microsoft. I said anyone can say that they are a certified mirosoft technicial, but do you work for "Microsoft"???? He got upset, arrogant, and would not answer the question.

I asked if he knew how to combine the two monitors in vista and he said yes, but it would cost me. I figured right then that he probably did not work for microsoft. It was too late. He ended the session. I went back into microsoft flight simulator and after only minutes, it froze. He did something to get back at me.

I called omni support again later and the next technician said he would fix the problem, accessed my computer and started the same pitch again. After i figured out that he was after money again and confronted him, he did the same thing. This time it was even worse.

I tried to call back and they must have my telephone number, after it answers and goes through the sequence, it just hangs up on me. I tried a different number and they answer until you mention your name and then, bang, they hang up on you. They got into the registry because i watched them with the mouse pointer and damaged it so if you say no to the sales pitch, you get screwed and have to deal with them. I was lucky not to get any of their scam warranty plans, but the blasted my computer.

It was brand new and ran perfect before i called them and they got access to it. I ran flight simulator x for two to three hours at a time. Now after 2 or 3 minutes, it slows down and freezes.I called microsoft and they informed me that there is nothing they can do as omintech is not microsoft, it is it's own company and i would have to deal with them to get my computer back the way it was. I would like to warn anyone within shouting distance to stay clear of omnitech and don't ever let them take over your computer.

I just had an online session and this company remote accessed my laptop to resolve a MS Office product key installation issue. The link to their company was located on the microsoft page http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/default.aspx. I purchased MS Office online and received an email with the product key but it was not working. i slicked this online help thinking that they were a sub company of microsoft. Upon request I gave access to them to remote control my laptop. The helpdesk person, Victor/Tech 6, told me that my issue was a MS Office configuration issue and they would resolve. They started to download and configure things on my laptop then immediately tried to sale me on a $299/year windows 'optimization plan'. I said no because I have 3 year plan thru Best Buy Geek Squad. He persisted and persisted I buy their plan, said he would get a supervisor to lower cost, said I should at very least pay $34 to fix this problem he was supposedly solving in the background. I asked why do I have to pay for fixing a MS product key issue and that is when he told me that Omni Tech is not a subsidiary of Microsoft at all, completely independent company. I said that I was not aware and thought they were part of MS. Before I could even get a screen shot of our chat session that included the multiple pressure attempts to give them hundreds of dollars he closed the chat! He then started to quickly click and close all other windows, still in control of my laptop. I had to do a forced reboot to knock him off. This was scary experience because as a customer with their link on MS official site I trusted that they were part of MS, otherwise I would have never given them remote access. They were pushy to sell me on some crazy service for $300, did things that were unrelated to my issue, and hastily deleted/closed my session to remove details of our chat session. This company should not be allowed to have an official looking help link on MS site. Avoid this company at all cost because they are very shady. MS needs to know about these issues with them.

Omni Tech Support ripped my 83 year old mother off for $179.00, and they did not fix her computer even after 5 hours of remote access. They put her through hell, making her sit at her computer, asking her absurd questions that indicate to me that they have no idea what they are doing, and then after exhausting her, they just dropped the remote connection on her computer. The problem was not fixed. They left her hanging.

My mother has been trying to call and or email them to get her money back, and all they do is tell her she should refer to the contract --the latter communication being through a chat box. I believe this is just a scam to get people's money with no good faith effort to fix anyone's computer.
