Northwest Pharmacy Reviews

  • Oct 4, 2017

I was able to fill prescriptions very easy in the past. But they have been barred from accepting credit cards due to a VISA/Mastercard rule which seems to be designed to stop rogue online pharmacies. So in order to fill a prescription, you have to write a check. Since I didn't have checks since I haven't used a check in more than 20 years, I had to get my bank to provide a check to use. Northwest Pharmacy rejected my check because I had to write in my information on the check (since the bank gave me a starter check). Keep in mind, that I have been ordering prescriptions for years from Northwest Pharmacy. Northwest Pharmacy then demanded that I provide them with a bank statement to verify that this is truly my bank account. But I didn't want to provide this. So I then had to contact my bank to get a verification letter. I then provided that to Northwest Pharmacy and they seemed satisfied. But then the repeatedly rejected my prescriptions for illogical reasons.

First, they rejected my prescription because it had a brand name written on it that they don't offer. This prescription clearly allowed for dispensing a generic of this drug and the prescription clearly listed the drug in its formal nomenclature. There was merely a reference to a brand name of this drug; and Northwest Pharmacy rejected the prescription for this reason which made no sense to my doctor. My doctor wrote a second prescription as Northwest Pharmacy instructed: the doctor must remove the brand name and insert a brand name of a drug that Northwest Pharmacy offers (even though the prescription and my order were clearly written with the drug nomenclature and indicated that generic was permitted and Northwest Pharmacy offers the generic). My doctor followed these instructions. Then Northwest Pharmacy rejected the prescription since it erroneously believed that the 2nd prescription did not allow for the dispensation of the generic even though the prescription clearly stated that generic is required unless "no substitution" is written by the doctor. The doctor did not write "no substitution". But because Northwest Pharmacy seems so incredibly paranoid, it ignored this fact and refused to fill the prescription.

In addition, Northwest Pharmacy has people who call you repeatedly while it waits to receive your check and prescription and these people are clearly from a country such as India who have accents I have a hard time understanding. And every single Northwest Pharmacy person I spoke with talked AT me: didn't listen to my question, didn't answer my question....just talked and talked their illogical, paranoid garbage.

So your phone rings excessively while Northwest Pharmacy calls you to tell you that your check was rejected, your prescription was rejected, and to ask when you will send the bank statement and when your doctor will send the new prescription.

I was told by a supervisor that Northwest Pharmacy doesn't have to comply with US laws even though the prescription was written in a state that requires the dispensation of generic drugs unless the doctor writes "no substitution" and this fact was written on the prescription.

I don't know what happened to this company. Maybe the fact that they can't accept credit cards has forced them to be paranoid and that they must impose multiple precautions that make it impossible to get a prescription filled.

This is at least the second time that I unsucessfully tried to order a prescription since they have been blocked from accepting credit cards.
