Nonpareil Institute Reviews

Faux company/tech program that leads to nothing. Came here in hopes of getting a fair chance of gainful employment that was out of reach for me due to trouble with job interviews due to social awkwardness (on the autism spectrum and ADHD).

Once they finished training me on the skill gaps I had for a job in the art and tech field, they started pushing me to work on video game projects with them that didn't match my skills or my career goals. Speaking of training, they have no set curriculum or goals set to when training is finished, they just shuffle you on whenever they feel like it.

This place is NOT an acredited School or Tech Program so it will turn-off prospective employers if it even appears on a resume. This forced me to switch career plans and nearly destroyed me dreams as graphic design and art jobs for major companies fell through.

They have complete disregard for your talent and career goals. You see, those on the spectrum who are hired on are considered Crew Members. Jobs limited to crew members only include jobs working on video game projects and as instructors to newbies who come in.

For those that have had carreer goals in game development, it didn't pay off. They were hardly ever paid for their work on the project if ever. The executives said that it's all based on product sales. Even if they work on a project that sells, your unlikely to get any royalties.

So what happens is that all royalties go back into the company rather than the crew who worked on it. Instructors on the spectrum are treated even worse as they are paid signifficantly less than a working not on the spectrum for the same work teaching new crew members.

This is plain disability discrimination and is illegal. Keepin mind that they DO NOT have a minimum wage exemption for disabled workers. It's starting to become less of a company/tech school and more of a sheltered workshop on steroids.

The worst part is that clients are charged anywhere from $800-$1500 per month for their training and supsequent employment. The amount they're paid is usually far less than what they are charged making it impossible to provide for themselves and are forced to live with family members.

So if you do the math, this makes people bleed money before you know it. This has put me and other friends I've met in serious debt as they are unable to make money to pay for everyday expenses without borrowing money! (money that they are unable to pay off) Because of this me and several of my friends that have left the place are between $10k-$75k in debt!

This hurts us financially and now many former crew members are unable to start an independant life even by rooming together for housing. Many of us have struggled to find work as everthing they teach us is very rudimentary.

This is meerly exploiting Autistic adults by leeching off of the high unemployment statistics and poor transition planing after high school. They don't bother to fix the problem because they are now a part of the problem, not the solution.
