NewWave Communications Reviews

  • Oct 27, 2015

I have had Newwave here in Jasper for YEARS on and off, back when they were simply known as CMA Communications (they got bought out, and are now the same company but owned by Newwave Communications) and as such, I have MUCH experience with their service. It is abysmal to say the least.

I pay for service I simply don't get. Every month I would always spend more time on the phone with their customer service people than I ever did online. It's gotten to the point where I feel like a terrible person every time I get off the phone, because I always end up screaming and cussing at them- after years of hearing the company lines and having nothing done, you would too.

Everytime I pick up the phone, like filling out paperwork, I know exactly what will be asked and what will be said. They ask for the name on the account, the address, the phone number, etc. and then they ask me to reset the router, unplug it for 15-20 seconds, plug it back in and try again. When that doesn't solve the problem they ask me whether I want them to send down a technician. I say yes. The technician is ALWAYS late. He comes, he tinkers, he leaves, and the next day (if not the same day) I have the same problems again. I call customer service, and the cycle starts anew.

Now, I pay for 50 mbps speed, and since I connect via wifi, that's cut down to 10-15 mbps (they don't tell you that) and that's enough, I suppose- except I usually find myself with 0-5 mbps instead. That's hardly enough to use FB with.

Even worse, is the contact fluctations between speeds and the signal strength and stability. The connecting and disconnecting has remained an unchangeable constant throughout my time with Newwave/CMA. I'll often find myself "connected with no internet access" which is indictated by a yellow exclamtion mark- again, has been going on for years.

Look, I don't know how else to say this, but they got us locked into a contract for a year. No matter how CRAPPY their service is, they've basically got a monopoly running in my area, so even if I wasn't locked in I'd have no other choice. Nobody else will provide, because I need to have good credit (I don't even have a credit history) so I'm basically s**t out of luck here.

If you consider getting Newwave- don't.
